The Health & Wellness Show: The Miraculous Carnivore Diet: Interview with Phil Escott

phil escott carnivore
So what's the deal with the carnivore diet? Many high-profile individuals have been talking about dropping everything but meat and fat from their diets and report miraculous healing benefits. Autoimmune conditions, diabetes, depression, arthritis, skin problems, weight loss - the benefits of going zero carb seem to be limitless.

Today we're joined by Phil Escott, health writer, blogger, personal trainer, novelist, drummer from the UK and author of the book 'ARTHRITIS - The Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me: Healing the pain of psoriatic and rheumatoid arthritis and how autoimmunity can heal your body and soul'. Due to a crippling bout of inflammatory arthritis in 2010, which he reversed by natural means including an ancestral/seasonal low carb diet, addressing EMFs and circadian mismatches and emotional balancing, further intense study revealed many secrets of healing normally hidden behind the misleading conventional medical and health dogma. Phil's healing journey eventually lead him to the carnivore diet and he hasn't looked back since!

Join us on this episode of the Health and Wellness Show, as Phil tells us about his own path back to health, with the many steps along the way, and the benefits of a carnivore diet for health and well-being.

The Truth Perspective: The Strange Contagion: How Viral Thoughts and Emotions Secretly Control Us

Lee Kravetz Strange Contagion
Today on the Truth Perspective we discuss Lee Daniel Kravetz's latest book Strange Contagion: Inside the Surprising Science of Infectious Behaviors and Viral Emotions and What They Tell Us About Ourselves.

When Lee and his wife moved to Palo Alto, California in 2009 they hoped for a bright future for their baby boy. Unbeknownst to them a tragic string of suicides was threatening to rock the entire county. What began with one tragic event in 2008 morphed into entire suicide clusters that claimed the lives of several hundred children. Shocked, Kravitz and others set out to investigate why so many of the youth - strangers to one another - would take their lives in affluent Silicon Valley.

What Lee discovered was a veritable contagion of ideas, emotions and behaviors that, like others in history, swept across their society. This social contagion, when at its most malevolent, threatens the vulnerable and shakes communities to their core. But at its most positive it can inspire courage, bravery, and point our way to a brighter future.

Are our goals, emotions and ideas really ours, or are we each at the mercy of this strange contagion'? And, if we are at the mercy of these forces, is it possible to turn their tide to our benefit? We'll be discussing these questions and more today, on the Truth Perspective.

The Health & Wellness Show: Exercise Schmexercise: What the hell are we running from?

weight lifting
Approximately 10% of Americans claim to be regular runners. Almost 60 million Americans belong to a gym and about $19 billion dollars a year are spent on gym membership fees. The plethora of fitness centers along with their yoga, aerobics, spinning and CrossFit classes, hiking clubs and sports leagues would suggest that in this country, at least, we're quite fit. Wrong. As a nation, we're fatter and sicker than ever. Why? What happened to all the bikini bods, six pack abs and boundless energy that exercise proponents and personal trainers promised? Why has "eating less and exercising more" proven to be little more than a weight loss pipe dream for most people?

Sure there are multiple proven benefits to regular exercise but it seems that the practice has been vastly oversold, over-emphasized and over-hyped. Is it time we stopped getting all hot and bothered over working up a sweat? Join us for this episode of The Health and Wellness show as we take a closer look at the workout fad, what it's good for and what aspects need to be disregarded.

And stay tuned for Zoya's Pet Health Segment, where she tells us about the shrinking brains of domesticated animals.

NewsReal: Israeli-French Deception Downs Russian Spy Plane Off Syria, US Escalates 'Regime Change' Against Iran

NewsReal Russian plane Syria
Israel has finally been called to the carpet by Russia over its deceitful actions last week that led to the accidental downing of a Russian IL-20 reconnaissance plane off the coast of Latakia in western Syria that killed 14 of its servicemen. This week on NewsReal with Joe & Niall, they discuss the incident in the context of last week's surprise announcement of a Turkish-Russian plan to deal with 'the Idlib cauldron' jointly.

Also, a bloody terror attack in Ahvaz, southwestern Iran on Saturday underscored the urgency that renewed sanctions bring to that country's predicament: is 'regime change' imminent? And will the US/Israel 'go for the jugular' in the course of generating socio-economic upheaval in yet another country, they believe, is 'ripe for democracy'?

Live audio broadcast this Sunday 23rd September from 16:00 UTC / 12:00 EST / 18:00 CET. Video podcast available here later.

The Truth Perspective: How Postmodernism Usurped the Western Mind

Intersectionality postmodern liberal leftist
Today on the Truth Perspective we tackle the Gordian Knot that is Postmodernism. From degrading art to bizarre philosophy, Postmodernism has relied primarily on confusion and a mask of 'mystique' to secure its rise to prominence. Today we dispel much of that confusion by discussing it historically and philosophically while putting it back into the context of that thing called "reality" which its adherents have so vehemently denied.

Charting its course from the Enlightenment through the conflict between Capitalism and Communism and on to the rise of the SJW, we examine how, where, and why it came to such prominence in Western thought and society. In the process we find that Postmodernism, far from being the confusing mess it portends to be, is indeed a rational movement, yet one that has at its core an old and malevolent spirit.

The Health & Wellness Show: Where is Your Awareness?

Awareness is the ability to directly know and perceive, to feel, or to be cognizant of events. More broadly, it is the state of being conscious of something. It's ephemeral, however; something that we seem to take for granted. Only rarely are we actually aware of our awareness.

Awareness seems to be a spectrum, rather than an on-off switch. Situational awareness is important for knowing what's going on in your immediate environment, where lapses in awareness can be extremely dangerous in some situations. But then there are higher forms of awareness, like self awareness, being aware of oneself, including one's traits, character, feelings, and behaviors. It's the distinction between having an experience (experiential consciousness) and knowing that you are having an experience (meta-awareness). Theoretically, awareness can expand even higher than this.

How much of our time is spent lost in thought, daydreaming or projecting? How aware are we of how we actually come across to others? Is there anything we can do to make ourselves more aware? Join us for this episode of the Health and Wellness Show, where we talk about the many facets of awareness.

NewsReal: The Skripal Saga: Why Context is Everything

newsreal skripal novichok russian agents
Two Russian 'GRU' agents have been exposed as the perpetrators in the attempted murder-by-chemical-weapon of Sergei and Yulia Skripal. Their own story doesn't add up, but their movements are also inconsistent with the claims against them, and they appeared on TV (like no real active intelligence agent ever does).

Missing, as always, from the mainstream narrative of the 'Skripal Saga' is all-important context: Why Russia, why chemical weapons, why now, and why, in a world of 'full-spectrum' surveillance possibilities - not least complete retrospective psychographic profiles of anyone even remotely connected with civilization - can they not give us a straight story about what happened?

If you're happy to 'pick a side' and root for it in this debate, then don't watch this show. If, however, unlike most people on the planet - and virtually all Western politicians (elected and unelected) - you're interested in getting as close to the truth of this matter as possible, then, by all means, have a listen as Joe & Niall do their best cutting through the lies and innuendo to reveal what this game is all about.

The Truth Perspective: Morality in Politics: Why We All Don't Just Get Along

The righteous mind book
© Jonathan Haidt
History is filled with moral doctrines; doctrines that tell us where we are, what to do, and the kind of future we're striving for. These moral systems differ significantly around the world, and oftentimes in spectacular ways. In the 20th century many Western intellectuals took these differences as proof that morality was always a social construct used to maintain power and authority by an oppressive elite. After all, if what is considered 'moral' in one culture is absolutely 'immoral' in another, what hope was there for an objective morality?

Thankfully the story didn't stop there. In his book The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt set out to answer this question by assembling decades of his and others' pain-staking research. By grounding our knowledge of morality in the evolutionary history of mankind, he ultimately sets out a new theory of morality, one that is intuitively, intellectually, and empirically robust. Today on the Truth Perspective we'll discuss his arguments and the evidence he presents while placing them in their historical context.

I know, dude. We're all freakin' out.
On this episode of The Health and Wellness Show we touch on some of the latest news in the health-o-sphere. Despite the ongoing hate campaign against low carb diets there are quiet whispers that red meat, fat and cheese aren't the devils they're made out to be. Are magic mushrooms more than just for trippin'? And finally, we'll try to answer that not-so-age-old question of whether or not coconut oil is poison. Join us!

NewsReal: 9/11: Kill The Internet

newsreal 9/11 kill internet
It's time to shut down the Internet.

It's been fun, at times, but the technological behemoth it gave rise to is killing us. Sometimes literally, but for the most part culturally. As an experiment in social networking that would 'progress humanity', the core belief that fueled its most ardent proponents and techie innovators, it has failed. In aggregate, its net result has been the generation of a new set of oligarchs and a general population that is increasingly bombarded with lies and half-truths about reality, downloading instructions through corrupt intermediaries about how they should think, feel and act.

Certainly, the Internet is integrated with everything in our lives now, but it has to go. Or rather, it ought to go. This week on NewsReal, Joe and Niall explore this idea as a philosophical exercise. They are not seriously proposing that people go out and 'burn it all down' - rather, that people maintain as much intellectual and emotional distance from it as possible. In any event, the Internet age will likely naturally come to an end soon enough.
