SOTT Focus: The Health & Wellness Show: The Highs and Lows of Cannabis as Medicine

cannabis
Marijuana used to be a popular herbal medicine in the 19th and 20th centuries and was common in U.S. pharmacies of the time. Yet, during the Nixon administration it was declared a Schedule 1 controlled substance and labeled as a drug with "no accepted medical use." Despite it being the most reviled plant on Earth, marijuana -- or cannabis -- has many medical uses that have long been known by science. There are over 100 active cannabinoids in cannabis with the non-psychoactive cannabidiol (CBD) accounting for 40% of the plant's extract.

CBD in the form of oils, tinctures, creams and sprays, ingested or applied topically, has been proven very efficacious in treating a wide range of disorders and maladies. Seizures, chronic pain, cancers of all types, Alzheimer's, schizophrenia, GI disturbances and psoriasis are just a few of the illnesses that this weed is known to treat and it's high time cannabis medicine regained its rightful place in pharmacology.

Join us for this episode of The Health and Wellness Show where we explore the abundant medical applications and actions of CBD.

SOTT Focus: The Truth Perspective: Bill Browder, the Magnitsky Act, and anti-Russia Sanctions: Interview with Alex Krainer

Browder book Amazon suppressed
© Alex Krainer
This Sunday, we're interviewing Alex Krainer, hedge fund manager and author of The Killing of William Browder: Deconstructing Bill Browder's Dangerous Deception. Bill Browder is the man responsible for much of the anti-Russian sentiment in the West in recent years through his lobbying for the Magnitsky Act, which sanctions individuals believed to have been involved in the death of Russian "lawyer" Sergei Magnitsky in 2009. Browder told his story in a book called Red Notice, in which he paints himself as a totally innocent victim of a Russian campaign to destroy him. But Krainer dissects Browder's account piece by piece, showing that he was anything but an innocent businessman.

In addition to deconstructing Browder's self-serving lies and rampant Russophobia, Krainer gives a concise history of the crisis Russia went through in the 90s, how a handful of Russian oligarchs and Westerners like Browder siphoned the country's wealth, and how Putin turned all that around in the years after he came to power in 1999.

Due to pressure from Browder's legal team, Amazon censored the book by delisting it. Krainer has made it available for free here and here. Krainer maintains a blog at thenakedhedgie.com

SOTT Focus: The Health & Wellness Show: Evil Brainz: Biology and Crime

MRI head scan
© APSTOCK
Murderers, fiends, offenders, crooks, abusers -- criminals and criminal behavior have always been a part of the human landscape. The reasons for their behavior have stumped the best minds on the planet and there is no surefire way to identify who will become a scourge of humanity and who will become an upright citizen. Nature vs nurture has been an ongoing debate in the social sciences with nurture -- as it does offer some glimmer of hope -- often winning out. However, new research points out that we are relying too much on a sociological viewpoint to explain crime and violence. Biology plays in important role too, and in some cases genetic inheritance is the only explanation that makes sense.

Join us on this episode of The Health and Wellness Show where we discuss the genetic and evolutionary aspects of antisocial behavior and attempt to answer the question: Are some people born to be bad? And stay tuned for Zoya's Pet Health Segment, where she discusses how to pet your cat without suddenly getting scratched or bitten!

SOTT Focus: The Health & Wellness Show: Nanny State, Paranoid Parents and the Fragile Generation

child bubble wrap

When the federal government passes a law stating that it's okay for children to walk to school alone, there's a problem with society. All over America, parents have been cited for allowing their children to do what previous generations viewed as normal and even a necessary part of development. Children roaming and playing freely without adult supervision was once the common and expected but it has been replaced with structured activities, endless lessons, play dates and rigorous school testing. Over-involved helicopter parents and nanny state schooling has resulted in a generation of children that are never free from the watchful eye of an authority figure.

How does this effect the individual and what will be the fate of society overrun with a bunch of fragile youngsters who can't make a move on their own or handle the harsh realities of adult life? Join us on this episode of The Health and Wellness Show for a lively discussion of this topic.

And stay tuned for Zoya's Pet Health Segment where we listen to George Carlin talking about the differences between cats and dogs.

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: MBS Saudi Takeover Heralds End of the Petrodollar? Trump Does Asia, Asia Likes It

Saudijski krunski princ proširio crnu listu i blokirao 1200 bankovnih računa i 800 milijardi dolara
‌MBS used to refer to mortgage-backed securities. But that's so-last-decade. Henceforth, it stands for Mohammed bin Salman, the 31-year-old upstart crown prince of Saudi Arabia who last week fired the prime minster of another (ostensibly sovereign) country - Lebanon - while purging some 200 Saudi royal VIPs from their posts, their pocketbooks, and - in at least a couple of cases - their lives. The official Saudi position is that everything is "Iran's fault". The official US position is that everything is going to plan. And the unofficial internet position is that the Saudi regime is imploding, which would likely take the petrodollar and US hegemony down with it.

Meanwhile, Trump has been storming around Asia making deals and doing his best to make the 'Russian collusion' allegations, that have dogged him since before he was even inaugurated, a thing of the past. But he has his work cut out for him, because powerful people in Washington are determined to ensure that the Trump-Russia axle of evil remains front and center in the minds of the 'freedom-loving peoples of the world'. Why?

Tune in to Behind the Headlines at 6-8pm CET (4-6pm UTC / 12-2pm EST), as we discuss the latest Middle East mayhem, among other breaking news over the last week.

SOTT Focus: The Health & Wellness Show: Syphilitic Superpower: The rise of STDs

Gonorrhoea
Sexually transmitted diseases are skyrocketing all over the globe. Public health departments report staggering increases in cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis with more than 2 million cases recorded in 2016. Gonorrhea is reaching antibiotic-resistant superbug status, chlamydia is evolving into new strains and oral HPV cases among men have surpassed cases of HPV caused cervical cancer.

On this episode of The Health and Wellness Show we'll take a look at the precipitous rise in STDs and its correlation to pornography, dating apps, the hookup culture and the general moral degradation of society. Is the spread of STDs just a symptom of the collapse of civilization?

And stay tuned at the end of the show where Zoya's Pet Health Segment will lighten the mood with interesting facts about octopuses.

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: U.S. Republic Goes Bananas: Rats Fleeing the Sinking Ship as U.S. Democracy Unravels

USA banana republic
Hillary Clinton has been officially outed as having rigged the Democratic primary so that she would win. She was therefore ineligible as a presidential candidate, yet the deep state media continues to cover this up and insists on focusing on the "Russia collusion" non-story. The situation is so farcical that it's fair to say that today American politics bears more similarity to that of a banana republic than the 'world's greatest democracy'.

Their attacks on RT and Sputnik are absurd; the accusations pale in comparison to what U.S. propaganda networks like RFE/RL are on record as doing. Their witch-hunt on social media ads from "Russia-connected accounts" is utterly paranoid. Day after day, the emptiness continues to be poured into the void while the Russiagate narrative tears itself apart at the seams.

The US political system looks like THE most corrupt and undemocratic political systems in the world. It's worse even than dictatorships. At least with a dictator no one is being fooled. In the USA, the totalitarian 'elite' have been fooling Americans for decades.

Tune in to Behind the Headlines at 6-8pm CET (4-6pm UTC / 12-2pm EST), as we discuss the latest in the Russiagate/Clintongate tragicomic farce, among other breaking news from this last week.

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: Spain Split in Catalonia Referendum Aftermath, JFK File Release Flops

Russian revolution 1917 graffiti

This month marks the 100th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution. Russia may be a vastly different place today, but there's no shortage of chaos in the world. The aftermath of the Catalan Independence Referendum is still reverberating. After Catalonian leaders refused to nullify the region's vote, Madrid took the nuclear option and activated Article 155 of the Spanish Constitution, dissolving the Catalonian parliament and assuming direct control in a move of questionable legality. For their part, Catalan leaders declared independence, calling for peaceful resistance to Madrid's attempts to deny the region's independence.

Over in the U.S., it has been 25 years since the U.S. government promised to release all their relevant JFK assassination files. The deadline came, and went. Trump could have simply allowed for what was promised; instead, he caved in to CIA and FBI pressure to delay the release for "national security reasons". While some documents were released, thousands were withheld pending redactions. Whether existing redactions in the publicly available files will ever be removed or previously withheld documents will ever see the light of day is up in the air. In six months, Trump has the power to delay them again, and so on, ad infinitum. The question is: what value are the documents, anyway?

For these topics and more, tune in to Behind the Headlines at 6-8pm CET (4-6pm UTC / 12-2pm EST), only on the SOTT Radio Network.

It's flu season folks, and the yearly hype and scare-mongering are upon us. How such a relatively benign and short-lived cluster of symptoms that nearly everyone on Earth experiences from time to time can generate such maniacal focus boggles the mind. It seems that every year there are warnings that this flu season will be the worst and we must prepare for a possible pandemic. The CDC's guesstimated statistic that 36 thousand people a year die from the flu is trotted out with almost clock-like regularity and quoted by esteemed health 'experts' nationwide in order to pressure people into obtaining their flu shot.

On this episode of The Health and Wellness Show we'll examine the flu, flu propaganda, flu shots, flu prevention, flu treatment and all other things flu-y. Join us!
