Kilauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes, began erupting again in Hawaii on Thursday, nearly a month after federal officials said activity there had ceased.

The U.S. Geological Survey said webcam images showed lava flow within the Halemaʻumaʻu crater in the volcano's summit caldera.

The agency upgraded the volcano's alert level from watch to warning and said it was evaluating possible hazards. So far the eruption has been contained to the crater, it said.

Impressive explosion of Popocatépetl volcano in Mexico

mmmmmm
This Monday, December 19, activity was recorded at the Popocatépetl volcano after an explosion with smoke and volcanic lava around 6:39 this morning, the National Civil Protection Coordination announced.

Through the San Nicolás de los Ranchos monitoring station, in Puebla, images were captured of the exact moment in which Popocatépetl erupted with lava bombs that rolled to the middle of the volcanic cone.

As reported by the National Civil Protection Coordination, the column of ash that caused the explosion reached a height of 2.4 kilometers moving to the Northeast.

A volcano in the Andes in Chile's north rumbled to life on Saturday, triggering minor earth tremors and sending a plume of smoke and ash thousands of metres into the sky.

Chile's National Geology and Mining Service reported that the Lascar volcano stirred at 12.36pm.

The volcano sent "an eruptive column" of volcanic ash and hot gases 6,000 metres above its crater, the service said.

Fuego volcano erupts in Guatemala

NNNNNNNNN
The Fuego volcano, one of the three active volcanoes in Guatemala, has erupted again after an increase in its activity during the last few days, as confirmed by the National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology of Guatemala (INSIVUMEH).

"The Fuego volcano presented an increase in its activity and in recent minutes has entered an eruption phase," it has said through its account on the social network Twitter, before detailing that "in the crater constant weak, moderate and strong explosions are observed."

Thus, it has pointed to the existence of "an incandescent source of 400 meters high" and added that "the ash column reaches 5,000 meters above sea level, dispersing 30 kilometers to the west and northwest".

Stromboli volcano eruption triggers 1.5m tsunami

The Italian authorities have reported 4.6-magnitude earthquakes near the Aeolian Islands

Earthquakes and tsunami waves have been registered in the Tyrrhenian Sea off the coast of Sicily after a volcano violently erupted on the Italian island of Stromboli on Sunday.

According to Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), the tsunami was caused by the detachment of a large piece of the Sciara del Fuoco section of the Stromboli volcano, which slammed into the sea, creating tsunami waves one and a half meters high.

Sirens were triggered on the island to alert the population, but the civil protection department has said that no people were injured in the incident and reported that the property damage was "insignificant," as the waves barely managed to reach the coast.

Hundreds evacuated after Indonesia's Semeru volcano erupts

Indonesia's highest volcano on its most densely populated island erupted early on Sunday, spewing a column of ash 1.5km into the air and prompting evacuations of residents from the eruption area.

Lava flowed down Semeru's slopes, traveling toward a nearby river, while several villages were blanketed with falling ash, blocking out the sun, but no casualties have been reported.

Several hundred people were moved to temporary shelters or other safe areas, according to Joko Sambang who heads the disaster management agency in Lumajang, East Java province.

People were advised to stay 5km from the crater's mouth, and avoid the southeastern sector area along the Besuk Kobokan river located about 13km (8 miles) from the crater.

Volcano eruptions on the rise with Solar Minimum

Solar Cycle 24
© Armstrong Economics
We are now in Solar Cycle 25 with peak sunspot activity expected in 2025. Solar Cycle 24 which ended in December 2019, was of average in length, at 11 years. However, it was the 4th-smallest intensity since regular record keeping began with Solar Cycle 1 in 1755. We're now in Solar Cycle 25 and we are still in Solar Minimum conditions at this time. Solar Maximum is predicted to occur midway through this cycle which may come as soon as November 2024 but no later than March 2026, with this ideal peak reaching most likely by July 2025.

Right now, the solar wave is conforming more to our model than that of NASA. The Sun has become far more active than NASA has forecast or expected. NASA is beginning to worry that this Solar Cycle 25 could become the Strongest Cycle Since Records Began. Effectively, in terms of our model terminology, Solar Cycle 25 may be a Panic Cycle. In other words, we appear to be headed into the strongest cycle on record following the weakest cycle. That is high volatility in cycle terminology.

So what does this mean for Markets?

Since this Solar Minimum may continue into 2024, that appears to be a very major turning point on our global food index. Most of our models on markets are showing Panic Cycles in the 2027-2028 time period. That appears to be more war than nature.

Mauna Loa eruption: Hawaii residents told to prepare for evacuation amid gas and ash warnings

mmmmmmmmm
People living on the slopes of the Mauna Loa volcano on Hawaii's Big Island have been told to prepare for a worst-case scenario as it continues to erupt and belch volcanic ash into the air.

Waves of orange, glowing lava are flowing from the world's largest active volcano in its first eruption in 38 years and officials told residents to be ready to evacuate if lava flows start heading toward populated areas.

While the eruption of Mauna Loa isn't immediately endangering towns, the US Geological Survey has warned the roughly 200,000 people on the Big Island that an eruption "can be very dynamic, and the location and advance of lava flows can change rapidly".

Governor David Ige said: "Lava flows are not threatening any downslope communities at this time and all indications are that the eruption will remain in the northeast rift zone.

Towering clouds of ash and glowing lava are spewing from two volcanoes on Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula and scientists say major eruptions could be on the way.

The peninsula, which extends into the Pacific Ocean about 4,000 miles east of Moscow, is one of the world's most concentrated areas of geothermal activity, with about 30 active volcanoes.

The sudden new activity followed a strong earthquake on Saturday, news reports said.

Ahyi undersea volcano likely erupting beneath Pacific Ocean

There are strong indications that an undersea volcano in the Northern Marianas could be in eruption.

For several weeks, scientists of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) have been detecting acoustic underwater signals that bear signatures of underwater explosions and were now able to pinpoint their source to the Ahyi seamount, located in the Pacific about 6,100 km (3,800 miles) west of Honolulu.

If the suspicion is true, the volcano's eruption likely started in mid October when the signals appeared. Ships in the area are advised to avoid the area and be cautions in case the eruption or its products including steam, floating pumice rocks, gasses etc reach the surface.
