Eruptions with continuous pyroclastic flow may continue to occur.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) recorded two eruptions at the Minamidake summit crater and few volcanic earthquakes.

JMA in cooperation with the JMSDF Air Group confirmed a slight increase of white fumarole from the Showa crater.

Sakurajima has a large amount of volcanic gas (sulfur dioxide) released per day.

Etna volcano erupts again, magnitude 3.3 earthquake also reported

A new eruption of the Etna volcano, accompanied by increased seismic activity, has been detected by specialists of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology of Italy.

According to scientists, there was a magnitude 3.3 earthquake in the province of Catania on the east coast of Sicily on Friday night.

The epicentre was 9 km deep. Felt in Milo, Zafferana Etnea and Sant'Alfio.

There are no reports of casualties and destruction.

White smoke plumes above Metis Shoal observed this week.

Massive plumes of white smoke are rising kilometres over a remote spot in the Pacific after an underwater volcano erupted earlier this week, and it could potentially mean the arrival of a brand new island.

The eruption at Matis Shoal, a submarine volcano around halfway between the islands of Kao and Late in Tonga, was first noticed on Tuesday when a pilot with the Real Tonga airline flew over the area and alerted ground control to white columns of steam rising to about 5000 metres elevation.

GeoNet and the Wellington Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre, a department of Metservice, have been monitoring the situation, but say there is currently no risk to flights in the area.

Merapi erupted for 270 seconds on Monday

Many parts of the slopes of Mount Merapi have been covered by volcanic ash after eruptions on Monday afternoon.

Ash fell on Ngargosoko, Mranggen, Srumbung villages in Srumbung district; Sumber, Talun, Ngargomulyo, Kalibening, Ngadipuro, Mangunsoko and Dukun villages in Dukun district; and Sucen and Jumoyo villages in Salam district.

Thin layers of ash also covered Sawangan village in Sawangan district; Tamanagung and Muntilan villages in Muntilan district; and Bojong and Pabelan villages in Mungkid district.

Italy's Mount Etna bursts into volcanic activity

Mount Etna's volcanic activity has increased, sending plumes of ash and smoke into the sky, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology said on Friday.

An eruption was registered at some 04:30 GMT by special cameras. The eruption included small eruptions and releases of ash. The grey smoke is currently visible over the mountain.

Experts from the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology assess the situation as stable. However, the incident resulted in a partial closure of airspace over the city of Catania.

Through the monitoring systems of the Popocatepetl volcano, 177 exhalations were identified, accompanied by gases and light amounts of ash.

In addition two explosions were recorded today at 04:46 h and 06:27 h.

The first explosion generated a column of approximately 2 km and the second explosion a column of 1 km, both explosions threw incandescent fragments on the slopes of the volcano.

Eruption column and pyroclastic flow at Shiveluch volcano on Oct 2nd

A moderately large explosive eruption occurred on Shiveluch volcano earlier this morning, producing an ash plume that rose to 30,000 ft (10 km) altitude and a pyroclastic flow that traveled several km to the west from the active dome.

The eruption was likely a combination of explosion at the lava dome and a partial collapse of fresh material from the active part of the dome in its upper NE sector:

The eruption Monday of Poás Volcano in Costa Rica has prompted officials to temporarily close the popular tourist attraction because of a "high probability" of more eruptions.

The dawn eruption, captured on video by the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI), sent a column of ash more than a mile above the 8,885-foot volcano.

Poás Volcano National Park, located 29 miles northwest of the Costa Rican capital of San Jose, remained closed Tuesday and a reopening date had not been announced at the time of this post.
