A foot of fresh April snow on Belleayre Mountain, New York

nnnnnnnn
"We made last call, and suddenly Old Man Winter decided to stop sipping pina coladas on the beach and get to the mountain!," read Saturday morning's giddy snow report from Belleayre Mountain at Ulster County's elevated northwest corner. "It wouldn't be a Belleayre Closing Weekend without some fresh snow, and a twelve-inch dumping of fresh 'Catskill Concrete' is already sitting at the top of the mountain with flakes still floating down.

It got packed down at various times through the night by our gang o' groomers on 27 trails, with two lifts getting prepared to get you on top of it!"

Season passes at the state-owned facility for the 2025-2026 ski season are now available. They increase in cost at the end of April.

Spring took a strange turn in Seoul on Saturday when the first mid-April snow since 1907 fell on the city, turning a day of cherry blossoms into one of icy roads.

The weather turned sharply, as daytime temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit) turned to cold, strong winds, hail and icy roads within hours starting Saturday night.

Songwol-dong of Jongno District, central Seoul, saw accumulated snow of up to 0.6 centimeters (0.24 inches) between Saturday night and Sunday morning, marking the second-largest snowfall recorded in April after the 2.3 centimeters logged on April 6, 1931.

Suwon, Gyeonggi, also saw its first mid-April snow on Saturday since the city's weather observations began there in 1964.

Sunday's lowest temperatures ranged from 0.1 to 6.7 degrees Celsius nationwide in stark contrast to the 14.3 to 24.7 degrees Celsius logged the day before.

April snow in Mykolaiv region, Ukraine

mmmm
Friday 11 April in Mykolaiv began with snow, traffic jams formed on the roads, and tree branches were broken in some yards. In some settlements of the region, there were problems with power supply, and some roads were blocked.

This weather looks unusual for April — a week ago, Mykolaiv residents were taking pictures of apricot blossoms, and now they are putting on their winter jackets again. See what Mykolaiv looked like in the morning after the spring snow in this photo report NikVesti.

Utilities started cleaning up in the morning. The city council reported that the main focus is now on eliminating the consequences of the shelling, but the roads are also being treated with anti-icing agents.

12 inches of April snow dumped on New England Ski Resorts

mmmmmmmm
The New England ski season may be winding down, but that doesn't mean spring showers—and spring powder turns—are out of the question. Several ski areas in the region have seen a significant refresh this week.

"If you took your snow tires off, audibly wished for 75 degrees and sunny, put away your snow blower for the year, or went looking for bathing suits at TJ Maxx—to that, Ullr calmly said 'hold my beer,'" Jay Peak Resort, Vermont, wrote in its morning snow report.

For Jay, it's been a memorable season. With 457 inches of snowfall this winter, totals at the resort have reached more than 100 inches above average. For a time, the Vermont mountain was outpacing Western destinations like Alta Ski Area, Utah, and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Wyoming, in total season snowfall.

Yesterday, Jay shared footage of new snow piling onto a truck on its Instagram page, documenting the effects of what it called "winter sprinter." The resort's 48 hour total is 12 inches. A similar story is unfolding at Sugarloaf Mountain, Maine, which, according to its snow report, picked up an extra two inches for a total of 14 inches in 48 hours.

This almost certainly goes without saying, but it looked all-time.

Storm Olivier coats Mount Teide in April snow creating a winter wonderland on the island of Tenerife, Spain

nnnnnn
Storm Olivier has swept across the Canary Islands, leaving behind an unexpected yet breathtaking scene on Mount Teide. While much of the island experienced rain and strong winds, the storm brought snow to the summit of Teide, transforming the usually sun-drenched landscape into a rare alpine spectacle.

At over 3,700 meters above sea level, Mount Teide is no stranger to the occasional dusting of snow during the colder months. But this spring snowfall, driven by the cold front associated with Storm Olivier, surprised locals and tourists alike.

The peak, often bathed in sunlight even in winter, is now glistening under a pristine white blanket, a stark contrast to the palm tree-lined beaches below.

Meteorologists from the Spanish State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) confirmed that temperatures dropped significantly at higher altitudes during the storm, allowing snow to accumulate on Teide's upper slopes. Gusts of wind exceeding 90 km/h were also recorded in the Teide National Park area.

For many residents, the snowfall offers a welcome sight, as it's like seeing two seasons in one day. You can go from sunbathing at the beach to seeing snow in the mountains, it's what makes Tenerife so magical!
