Greenland just set a new all-time record low temperature

Summit camp, Greenland

Summit Camp, also known as Summit Station, is a year-round research station on the apex of the Greenland Ice Sheet. It is located some 10,500 ft (3,200 m) above sea level, and it's data is often cited by climate alarmists claiming "Greenland Is Melting Away Before Our Very Eyes" and other such nonsense...

Adding to the list of temperature measurements those alarmists will likely ignore -or won't even get to hear about given the mainstream media's warm-bias- is Summit Camp's preliminary low of -86.8F (-66C) set at 11:13 PM on January 02, 2020.

The reading, once confirmed by the DMI, will enter the books as Greenland's coldest-ever recorded temperature-not only at Summit Camp, and not only in January, but of anywhere across the island, and of any month of the year.

Somehow, in what we're to believe is a linearly warming world, Greenland -the poster boy for global warming- is currently the coldest we've ever known it to be.

Norway records warmest ever January day at 19C

Sunndalsora, Norway

Western Norway is experiencing a rare heatwave for early January, at a time when temperatures should normally be below freezing.

The highest temperature of 19C (66F) - more than 25C above the monthly average - was measured in the village of Sunndalsora.

This makes it Norway's warmest January day since records began.

While many were enjoying the warm weather, there are concerns that it is another example of climate change.

"It's a new record for warm weather here... People [have been] out in the streets in their T-shirts today," Yvonne Wold, mayor of the municipality of Rauma, who had taken a dip in the sea earlier in the day, told the BBC.

"A lot of people are usually skiing at this time. Not exactly much of that today," she added.

Comment: The Foehn Effect may have also contributed to Northern Scotland registering a "remarkable" overnight temperature of 16.8C (62.2F) in the early hours last Sunday - a record high for this time of year.

However, the record-breaking temperatures, lows and highs, being recorded around the globe these days are likely influenced by a rapidly changing jet stream. See also:

Parts of Nagaland saw snow for the first time in decades—and more may be on the way

It may have taken a while—four decades as some reports claim—but it finally snowed in parts of Nagaland last week and it's turned the region into a winter wonderland. The rolling green mountains and meadows in the districts of Zunheboto, Kiphire, Phek and Tuensang were blanketed in fresh powder due to a biting cold wave in northeast India.

Nagaland weather in January 2020

Snow is an uncommon phenomenon in Nagaland. At this time of the year, the temperature usually drops to 10-11°C, but last week, the temperatures dropped to 2-3°C. Several other parts of the northeast are also experiencing extreme cold conditions. Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday was the most frigid city in the northeast on Monday at a temperature of 2.9°C. The conditions were similar in Imphal in Manipur, while Shillong reported a low of 5°C.

Overnight storm dumps 14 inches of snow on Brundage Mountain, Idaho

A New Year's storm dropped over a foot of snow Wednesday on Brundage Mountain.

A winter snowstorm delivered a skiers dream to Brundage Mountain after dropping 12-14 inches of fresh snow on the mountain Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning.

Temperatures stayed in the mid to low 20's during this storm surge, so the quality of the snow is on par with the quantity.

"Powderhounds were up early to enjoy the fresh snow and an unexpected sun break before snow showers moved back in," the mountain said.

Snowstorm knocks out power to more than 30,000 in B.C.'s southern Interior

B.C. Hydro says a snowstorm cut power to tens of thousands of customers in the province's southern Interior Tuesday.

The hardest hit areas included Clearwater, Quesnel and rural areas just outside of Kamloops, Vernon and Salmon Arm where heavy snow caused branches and trees to crash into power lines.

On Saturday morning, B.C. Hydro said it had restored power to about 60 per cent of affected customers, but there were still around 34,000 customers without power in the region.

Anchorage rang in the new year with record-breaking snowfall and warmth, as temperatures tumbled on Tuesday evening and precipitation ticked up throughout the night.

It was the snowiest New Year's Eve and New Year's Day combined on record for Anchorage, with 9.5 inches of snow by Wednesday afternoon, according to meteorologist Michael Vuotto at the National Weather Service in Anchorage. The snow totals broke the previous record set during the 1963-64 New Year's, which measured 7.2 inches of snow.

The snowfall came after Anchorage broke the daily record for warmest Dec. 31, with temperatures at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport measuring 46 degrees. That broke a previous record that was set in 2018, at 44 degrees for the final day of the year.

Comment: See also: A recent study predicts the next solar cycle phase will bring on a 'Mini Ice Age' as early as 2020, as according to the models, there will be a "huge reduction" in solar activity for 33 years between 2020 and 2053. This will cause global temperatures to decrease drastically. Meanwhile NASA predicts the weakest solar activity in 200 years.

Jet Stream meanderings, and much more, are explained by Pierre Lescaudron in his book Earth Changes and the Human Cosmic Connection:
So since about 1998, when the solar activity started to drop, the Arctic jet stream has shown signs of weakness (lower speed and more southerly location). Jet stream latitudinal oscillations have been acknowledged by mainstream science for years. They are allegedly due to changes in the Arctic oscillation. [561] So far, no convincing explanation has been provided for the causes of this 'oscillation'. However, if the electric nature of our solar system is taken into account, shifts in the jet stream begin to make sense...

Therefore, if solar activity is weak, the jet stream should be observed at abnormally low latitudes. This is what has happened in recent years, particularly over Europe, with the jet stream as low as 15° north in winter (above North Africa) when it should be around 60° north (above Scotland)...

In this way, a lasting decrease in solar activity would induce an overall cooling of the 'temperate' latitudes that would be increasingly less separated from Arctic air by a more frequently and abnormally south-shifting polar jet stream. This could be an aggravating factor in the quick onset of an ice age.

At least 50 people have died in Bangladesh as cold weather continues to sweep across the country, officials have said.

The country's lowest temperature this year was recorded at 4.5 degrees Celsius (40.1 degrees Fahrenheit) early on Sunday in Tetulia, a border town in Bangladesh's north, the weather office said.

At least 17 people died of acute respiratory infection and 33 from diarrhoea caused by rotavirus and other diseases across Bangladesh from November 1 to December 28, said Ayesha Akhter, a senior official of the government's health directorate.

Hospitals have been crowded with people suffering from cold-related illnesses, such as influenza, dehydration and pneumonia, she said.

Those on low incomes, particularly labourers, are the worst affected by the cold weather because they lack clothes, while many others, especially children and the elderly people, are prone to diseases such as pneumonia, Akhter said.

Comment: Meanwhile in neighbouring India, Delhi faced its second-coldest December in 100 years. In Skardu, the city's recent low of -21C (-5.8F) broke Pakistan's all-time December low temperature, which was set back in 1994.

Two people were killed after getting swept up by a massive avalanche in a mountain pass in British Columbia, Canadian authorities said.

The two skiers were climbing by foot on a slope near the Alaskan border when they were buried by the avalanche, which barreled into a terrain trap, Avalanche Canada said. A third skier who was with the victims was partially buried but managed to get free and used a satellite messaging system to get help, the organization said.

The skiers were friends from Haines, Alaska, the Haines Volunteer Fire Department said in a news release. Their names will not be released until family members are notified, the department said.
