Winter appears to have arrived early in Northern Europe.

In the most northern parts of Värmland, it has been snowing all day, according to Dan Norström at Långberget's sports hotel in Sysslebäck.

"I've been here for almost 20 years," said Norström. "This is probably the earliest snow."

"When I came [to work] this morning at a quarter past eight, the first flakes came." "Now it is white everywhere and has come five to six centimeters."

We're still a few days from the start of fall, but already some parts of the province have seen a dose of winter weather.

A time-lapse video posted to Instagram showed clouds encroaching on a peak at Whistler Blackcomb Tuesday.

"This is not a drill," the ski resort posted, saying it was the first snowfall of the season on its 7th Heaven summit.

Summer snow comes to Lapland in Finland

Reindeer herder Per-Antti Labba captured the first snowfall on Wednesday.

The first snow of the season fell in Finland's northwestern arm on Wednesday morning, from the village of Karesuvanto in Enontekiö to the nearby fells, where reindeer herder Per-Antti Labba was looking after his livestock.

"It's snowed a few centimetres. It's foggy, cloudy and cold," he told Yle after sending in the above photo.

For local herders, the date of the first snowfall came as no surprise.

"It often snows for the first time exactly during this week of September in the northwestern fells. The snow will still melt many times before the real winter arrives, though," says Labba.

"No land or ocean areas had record-cold temperatures in July [2019]," NOAA - Brilliant obfuscations or downright dirty lies?

US cold records July 2019

The claims are STILL being bandied about the internet: "July 2019 was the planet's warmest month in 140 years of record keeping," and "no land or ocean areas had record-cold temperatures in July."

From weather.com to time.com, from usatoday.com to the independent.co.uk — every corner of the mainstream press willingly lapped-up the NOAA article and repackaged it as unequivocal fact.

I still haven't quite worked out if NOAA's assertions are brilliant obfuscations or downright dirty lies.

But either way, according to data from their own website, the number of U.S. weather stations busting all-time daily record low-minimum temperatures in July, 2019 totaled 938.

"No land or ocean areas had record-cold temperatures in July"?

And it gets better still:

Again according to NOAA's own official data, the all-time daily record high-maximum temperatures for July, 2019 totaled just 522 — meaning the cold records bested the hots by almost 2-1.

And turning to the monthly records, no less than 32 U.S. weather stations either tied or busted their coldest ever recorded temperatures for the month of July this year.

And again: "No land or ocean areas had record-cold temperatures in July"?

Early snow comes early to northern city in Heilongjiang, China

China's northernmost city Mohe in Heilongjiang province welcomed the first snow of the coming winter on Sunday, about 25 days earlier than last year, said the local observatory.

"Affected by cold air, a strong northwesterly wind hit the city on Sunday and the temperature dropped by 8 C," said Yu Jiayi, a forecaster at the observatory. "The lowest temperature over the following two days will be around-3 C and it is expected to increase slightly on Thursday."

The region, regarded as the coldest in China, usually sees winters lasting eight months. Its record low is-52.3 C.

While mountains around the city are enjoying colorful autumn leaves, the falling snow has turned the whole city into a white fairyland.

Early winter weather stuns western Norway

SNOW
Winter came early over the weekend, with stormy weather dumping up to 20 centimeters of snow in some areas of the mountains while also wreaking havoc over wide areas of Vestlandet (Western Norway).

Strong winds knocked down trees and power lines, leaving thousands without power, while others were evacuated after heavy rain led to more flooding and landslides.

It was another wild weekend, and many roads remained closed Monday morning. Among them were RV52 over Hemsedalsfjellet and 10 county roads from Lærdal and Geiranger to Stryn. The popular FV63 better known as Trollstigen was also abruptly closed because of the weather, disappointing autumn tourists.

The biggest problem were the powerful wind gusts that also swept over many areas where skies were blue and the sun was shining, including the Oslo area. The southern cities of Kristiansand and Arendal were hit hard, with local utility companies scrambling to restore electricity after countless trees fell over power lines

Australia becomes a wheat importer looking to Canada for supply but Canadian wheat output slashed this year as well. Now other countries that used to rely on Australian exports need to find supply elsewhere. Australian government warning people to brace for huge food price rises, which we see unfold as an example of what the planet will experience in a massive economic contraction as food becomes super expensive and buying habits shift.
