The claim that human emissions are causing the climate to change dramatically and abruptly is used to instill fear among the population. Without human emissions, the climate would still change, but much more calmly and gradually, so they like to have us believe.

But anyone who has studied climate history knows that climate change tends happen abruptly, often over the course of just a few decades.

One example is the Sahara, which wasn't always a desert. Trees and grasslands dominated the landscape from roughly 10,000 years ago to 5,000 years ago, scientists reported in a paper published in 2013. "Then, abruptly, the climate changed, and north Africa began to dry out."

The study published in Science says it all took just a few hundred years.

Snow and frost threaten fruit crops in Korça, Albania

nnnnnnn
The recent snowfall in Korça, Albania, accompanied by a temperature drop, has impacted the agricultural sector, particularly affecting certain crops.

Arben Hysolli, a specialist at the Directorate of Agriculture in Korça, outlined the factors influencing the extent of damage. Notably, almonds, peaches, apricots, and cherries, especially early cherry cultivars, are at risk. The situation is under observation with an assessment expected within 72 hours.

Hysolli stated, "Yesterday's snowfall was also accompanied by a drop in temperatures, which reached -5.2/-6 degrees Celsius. The damage caused by the drop in temperatures depends on a number of factors, which are the duration of the minimum temperature, how far this minimum temperature has reached, the species or cultivar of the agricultural crop, as well as the phenological phase in which the agricultural crop is located."

First spring snowfall over Jordan's highlands in about 27 years

VVVV
Jordan was affected by a second-degree (winter) low-pressure system accompanied by an extremely cold air mass across all layers of the atmosphere. As a result of the extreme cold in the atmosphere, especially the low layers, the northern mountain peaks, especially the peaks of Jerash and Ajloun governorates, especially the Ras Munif area, witnessed snowfall. Snow accumulated during the hours of Thursday/Friday night and Friday morning and dawn.

As the extremely cold winds deepened, snow spread to some peaks of the central highlands, including the peaks of Balqa, and some high-altitude neighborhoods west of the capital, including Khalda and Tlaa Al-Ali. Accumulating for a short period, this snowfall is the first of its kind during Ramadan in about 27 years, and it coincides with the first day of the vernal equinox.

These are scenes of the first snowfall during the month of Ramadan in about 27 years.

This is spring? US Midwest digs out from blizzard; Northeast braces for snow

NNNNNN
A powerful storm toppled power lines and made roads impassable across parts of the Midwest while another system forming Thursday − the first day of spring − was forecast to dump snow on parts of the Northeast by week's end, forecasters said.

The storms rocking the nation come just days after a huge system slammed across the country, killing more than 40 people.

The Kansas Department of Transportation shut down almost 250 miles of I-70 from Salina to the Colorado border for several hours at the height of the storm that brought high winds and blizzard conditions Thursday. In Iowa, the Department of Transportation closed a 70-mile stretch of I-29 from Sergeant Bluff to Missouri Valley. In Nebraska, I-80 was closed from Omaha to the Wyoming State line.

As the snow eased and major highways reopened, strong winds and travel warnings remained.

The snowfall has passed its peak in flatlands of the southern part of the Kanto region. More is forecast, mainly along mountains in the Kanto-Koshin region until late Wednesday afternoon. Strong winds are also expected.

The Japan Meteorological Agency says a cold air mass is flowing into the country at high altitudes. Also, a developing low pressure system is moving in an easterly direction.

The agency says these conditions are causing snow and rain, mostly around mountains.

In the 12 hours ending at 11 a.m. Wednesday, 30 centimeters of snowfall was observed in Gunma Prefecture's Kusatsu Town, 27 centimeters in Nagano Prefecture's Sugadaira, 18 centimeters in Fukushima Prefecture's Hinoemata Village and 15 centimeters in Hyogo Prefecture's Uwano Highland in Kami Town.
