Buildings were left damaged and widespread power outages reported in the Solomons Island capital, Honiara, after two earthquakes struck just off the south-west coast on Tuesday.
The first magnitude 7.0 earthquake briefly triggered a tsunami warning from the United States Geological Survey, but this warning was withdrawn soon after.
A second quake, with a magnitude of 6.0, struck nearby 30 minutes later.
Power was out in some areas of Honiara and Solomon Islands Broadcasting said in a statement that all radio services were off air.
The Australian prime minister, Anthony Albanese, said the roof of the Australian high commission annexe in Honiara had collapsed, "which points to likely damage throughout the city".
A 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck off western Indonesia Friday, the United States Geological Survey said, with no immediate reports of damage.
The quake hit just after 8:30 pm (1330 GMT) at a shallow depth, with an epicentre near Enggano, a small outlying island about 155 kilometres (95 miles) southwest of Sumatra's Bengkulu, the USGS said.
A magnitude 5.4 aftershock struck the same area at 9:07 pm (1407 GMT), USGS said.
"We have checked with authorities on Enggano island, the closest to epicentre and they reported the earthquake was felt weakly there, so far there has been no reports on damages or casualties, but we are still doing more assessment," spokesman of the national disaster mitigation agency Abdul Muhari told AFP.
A rare magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck west Texas near Mentone on Wednesday around 3:30 pm central. This is the third strongest quake to ever strike Texas.
According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the Texas quake was about 30 miles west of Toyah. Shaking was felt as far as Alpine, NewsWest9 reported.
The quake was followed by a few aftershocks. No reports of damage or injuries so far.
A 6.1-magnitude earthquake was detected off central Japan on Monday, shaking Tokyo and other cities, officials said, but no tsunami warning was issued.
The quake struck at 5:09 pm (0809 GMT) off central Mie prefecture with a depth of about 350 kilometres (217 miles), the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
There were no reports of damage or injuries and no abnormalities were detected at the Fukushima nuclear plants, according to public broadcaster NHK.
The US Geological Survey also measured the quake at a magnitude of 6.1.
The Fukushima and Ibaraki prefectures, north of Tokyo, experienced stronger shaking on Japan's seismic scale, despite the regions being hundreds of kilometres from the epicentre.
Very strong magnitude 6.2 earthquake at 18 km depth
A shallow magnitude 6.2 earthquake was reported late at night near Curanilahue, Arauco, Region del Biobio, Chile.
According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the quake hit on Saturday, November 12th, 2022, at 11:24 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
