MPs suggested that proposed constitutional changes should include a resetting of presidential terms which would allow Putin to run again. Under the current law he will have to leave office in 4 years because he has been President for two consecutive terms. Speaking in the State Duma, Putin said he would consider the idea “only if citizens support such a proposal” in the upcoming national vote on the constitution on April 22.
