SOTT Focus: NewsReal: Russia is LOSING the war in Ukraine! Or is it?

putin shoigu newsreal
© Sott.net
Tens of thousands of Russian soldiers killed, half a dozen generals dead, Russian troops demoralized and deserting... To listen to Western media, it's just a matter of time before the Russians accept defeat in Ukraine and the Russian government collapses. If not that, then Putin has been forced to 're-think' his designs on Ukraine, cut his losses and salvage what he can from an otherwise disastrous military campaign.

On this NewsReal, Joe and Niall assess the Western consensus about the war in Ukraine, the 'strategic error' Putin is supposed to have made, and the prospects for Russia's survival as a nation-state at this historic juncture.

SOTT Focus: The Science of Evil: A Personal Review of Political Ponerology

new edition political ponerology
A new edition of Political Ponerology, by Andrew M. Łobaczewski, edited by Harrison Koehli, is now available on Amazon.1 This strange and provocative book argues that totalitarianism is the result of the extension of psychopathology from a group of psychopaths to the entire body politic, including its political and economic systems. Political Ponerology is essential reading for concerned thinkers and all sufferers of past and present totalitarianism. It is especially crucial today, when totalitarianism has once again emerged, this time in the West, where it is affecting nearly every aspect of life, including especially the life of the mind.

When I first encountered Political Ponerology, I had been struggling to understand just how totalitarian leftism had effectively taken over the United States of America. Ever since my encounters with the rabid social justice warriors as a professor at New York University — recounted in my book Springtime for Snowflakes — I began to note, with no little alarm, the totalitarian character of the contemporary Left. Then the emergence of "woke" ideology and its metastasis from academia into the entire social body set me on a mission to understand the rise of totalitarianism — because I believed, and still do, that "wokism" is totalitarian. Far from being "liberal" in the classical sense, woke ideology is akin to the Jacobinism that fueled the communist revolutions in Russia, China, and elsewhere. It aims to tear down the established order in its entirety, and to remake the world in its image of utopia.

I began with the study of the Bolshevik revolution in Russia and continued by examining the exportation of Bolshevik variants to Eastern Europe and Asia. Communism was more interesting to me than Nazism and a much more neglected terrain in the US academy. Further, it was more relevant in the current context. In attempting to research leftist political criminality, I was both amazed and enraged at how the academy had buried much of the history. For example, searches for the practices of "struggle sessions" and "autocritique," which were so prevalent during the Cultural Revolution in China, yielded next to nothing. These and related topics were either not treated or else simply disappeared. I suspected that a vast coverup had been undertaken.

Comment: In these times, where most of the world's leaders are openly displaying their pathology, this book could now be considered essential reading. See also:

SOTT Focus: First Fact-Based MSM Report About War in Ukraine! Newsweek: 'Putin Minimizing Civilian Casualties'

Comment: Newsweek didn't get it quite right. But they're closer to the mark than any analysis published in anglophone media thus far...

truck Z ukraine
As destructive as the Ukraine war is, Russia is causing less damage and killing fewer civilians than it could, U.S. intelligence experts say.

Russia's conduct in the brutal war tells a different story than the widely accepted view that Vladimir Putin is intent on demolishing Ukraine and inflicting maximum civilian damage — and it reveals the Russian leader's strategic balancing act. If Russia were more intentionally destructive, the clamoring for U.S. and NATO intervention would be louder. And if Russia were all-in, Putin might find himself with no way out. Instead, his goal is to take enough territory on the ground to have something to negotiate with, while putting the government of Ukraine in a position where they have to negotiate.

Comment: That's a more reality-based guess at Russia's strategy, but it's still wrong. No matter how shrill the 'clamoring', there isn't any intervention NATO could make beyond what it's doing: attempting to smuggle weapons and mercenaries, and lying to the world about what is taking place in Ukraine, and why it is taking place.

Russia is 'all-in', but not in the way we're used to seeing NATO forces go 'all-in'. They want to preserve as much of Ukraine as possible because it will be less expensive to rebuild it afterwards, and because the last thing they want is to generate multi-generational russophobic hatred in Ukraine. But they have no moral qualms about using hypersonic missiles to smack the supply chains of Western weapons at Ukraine's borders with 'NATO-stan'.

Comment: Along with retired US Army Colonel Douglas MacGregor, it's nice to know that common sense still exists in Western military institutions.

There's no chance of that affecting US government policy for the better, however. 'Russia must die' will be the last words of the Ukrainian regime and the Western regime not long after it.

SOTT Focus: Objective:Health - The Trans Takeover of Women's Sports

O:H header
This past weekend, transgender Lia Thomas won the NCAA title in the women's 500-yard freestyle swim, the first transgender athlete to do so. It marks a turning point when a number of people "realised politically correct monsters who don't give a damn about anything other than advancing a hard left ideology are perilously close to wiping out women's sport for good," to quote Dan Wootton.

Seeing Lia on the first place platform, towering over the second and third place competitors, one is struck by a very simple truth - this isn't fair. Biological men, with their myriad physical advantages, should not be able to compete against women for women's athletic titles. Women are losing championships, scholarships and in some cases, getting injured, as they're forced to compete against men.

If this continues, many are saying this will be the end of women's sports. Why would any athletic team not replace all biological female athletes with biological men if it meant securing a win? And with more and more trans-women being allowed to enter women's sports, how is a biological woman supposed to compete?

Join us on this episode of Objective:Health as we talk about the controversial topic of trans-women in women's sports.

SOTT Focus: NewsReal: Russia, China and the New World Order

newsreal new world order putin ukraine china
© Sott.net
For many years, the term 'New World Order' was used by US and some other Western officials to refer to the post-USSR world of unbridled Western dominance, in which the 'End of History' would see the whole Earth subsumed within Western civilization. In the meantime, an overlapping conception of the 'NWO' saw Western dissidents warn of a coming 'New World Order' in which globalist technocrats would control all governments and turn the entire global population into slaves. Both of these conceptions of our shared future were 'true', depending on the point of view of the person using them.

But now a different, non-Western conception of the 'new world order' is emerging, one that Western leaders are loathe to publicly recognize, but which they tacitly acknowledge because they are doing all they can to prevent its occurrence by setting off fires of war and want in a giant 'arc of instability' from the Middle East and Eastern Europe to Central Asia and the Far East.

This week on NewsReal, Joe and Niall look at the rise of the 'multi-polar world' headed by the strategic alliance of Russia and China, and the desperate - indeed, reckless to the point of suicidal - attempts of the Western powers to 'contain' it.

SOTT Focus: MindMatters: Beyond the Schizo-Autistic Worldview: Introducing the Matter with Things

brain matter things
Our understanding of each other, ourselves, the world, science and philosophy is in a sorry state. Ratiocentric, transactional, materialistic, and narcissistic assumptions dominate over a more coherent and understanding. We're living in the left hemisphere. But what is the alternative? And if the left-hemisphere view of the world is so often destructive, what place does it hold in the broader, right-hemisphere picture? And what does this imply about the nature of man, and of reality? Iain McGilchrist has written a remarkable book in which he answers these questions: The Matter with Things: Our Brains, Our Delusions and the Unmaking of the World. Today on MindMatters we are again joined by Lucien to introduce the book's many important insights.

SOTT Focus: Objective:Health - Preparing Ourselves for "Food 2.0"

O:H header
As we've seen circulating in the corporate press as of late, the idea that there won't be food shortages in the near future seems highly unlikely. Whether they blame it on Russia, truckers, the Coronavirus or any other bad guy de rigueur, (but never squarely on the shoulders of the governments, where it most seems to fit), it seems highly likely that the #bareshelvesbiden trend is only going to get more widespread, and more intense.

On this episode of Objective:Health, we talk about how food shortages are being used to usher in the new Great Reset paradigm of ultra-processed plant-based foods, insect-based, lab-grown protein food substitutes. You'll eat the bugs, because that's all that's offered.

But is there a defense against this? We also talk about necessary measures for preparedness on this show. If we're prepared for the worst, we won't be subject to the whims of the "you'll own nothing and be happy" crowd.

Join us for our scintillating discussion of what's coming down the pipe and the best way to prepare for it on this edition of Objective:Health.

Flashback SOTT Focus: 'Ukraine on Fire': How US, Not Russia, Destroyed Ukraine - Oliver Stone Documentary

Ukraine on Fire
Oliver Stone's seminal documentary Ukraine on Fire has finally been made available to watch in the West.

Ukraine, the 'borderlands' between Russia and 'civilized' Europe is on fire. For centuries, it has been at the center of a tug-of-war between powers seeking to control its rich lands and Russia's access to the Mediterranean.

The Maidan Massacre in early 2014 triggered a bloody uprising that ousted president Viktor Yanukovych, spurred Crimeans to secede and join Russia, and sparked a civil war in Eastern Ukraine.

Russia was portrayed by Western media as the perpetrator, and has been sanctioned and widely condemned as such. But was Russia responsible for what happened?

SOTT Focus: NewsReal: Russian Operations in Ukraine Proceeding as Planned, But Risk of War Contagion Grows

By effectively instituting a black-out in the West on information coming from Russia, the Anglo-American party to this recently expanded 'civil war' in Ukraine is dominating all communications about what is taking place there.

'Free' from the burden of having to research and provide actual documentation and evidence from or about Ukraine, Western media has resorted to outright fiction in order to 'shape the perception' that the Russian military is failing to achieve what it set out to do - and worse, is 'wantonly slaughtering civilians'.

This week on NewsReal, Joe and Niall expose the latest war lies to assess the actual situation, discuss the 'war psychosis' that has gripped the West, and point to the real risk of this war spreading in Europe and further afield.

SOTT Focus: MindMatters: Princely Politics: Why Machiavelli Still Matters Today

machiavelli
Was Machiavelli an evil mastermind? A Svengali manipulator and corrupter of princes, worthy of the contemporary descriptor "Machiavellian"? Was he, rather, the first political scientist - an empiricist and pragmatist simply describing what he saw as the way things were? Or was he, simply, a politician? Today on MindMatters we discuss Machiavelli's short classic, The Prince. So join us as we try to make sense of the world of princely politics and the relevance of Machiavelli's work today. The times may have changed, but politics not so much - which suggests that perhaps Machiavelli was on to something.
