I've just watched an excellent 1943 documentary by Oscar Award-winning director Frank Capra, and produced by the US government. It's a rare thing to behold: an accurate - in fact, a rather glowing - portrayal of Russia and its historical role as shock absorber to invading hordes. The film was recently uploaded to the YouTube channel of the US National Archives but, as far as I can make out, has been publicly available since 2011.

While the bulk of the film uses contemporary footage collected by US Army Intelligence during the war to capture the horror, scale and intensity of the Nazi invasion of Russia, and how the Russians ultimately defeated the Nazis through brilliant strategy and sheer force of will, the first part also goes into some historical context about previous invasions of Russia, as well as important geographical detail about the nature of 'Russia'.

Planetary upheaval continued apace in March 2015, with intense flash-flooding occurring all across Latin America, and washing away entire towns. Overnight, the Atacama Desert in Chile, the 'driest place on Earth', became one of the wettest. Melting snow combined with unseasonal rains to flood parts of Northern India, the U.S. Midwest and Western Europe, while flooding also hit Eastern Africa and Australia. One of the strongest ever cyclones in the South Pacific devastated Vanuatu, while Super-Typhoon Maysak bore down on the Philippines at the end of the month. Just as Americans living in Tornado Alley were wondering where 'tornado season' had gone, a powerful multi-vortex twister scourged Moore, Oklahoma (again).

With snow on the ground in 49 out of 50 U.S. states on March 1st, all month long heavy snowfall continued across the eastern half of North America. Boston broke its winter snowfall record - 9 feet of snow... and the same amount fell in ONE DAY in Central Italy last month! The extreme cold in the U.S. Northeast continued to set record-breaking temperatures, and brought sea ice up to previously unseen levels. No matter the season or location, tropics or desert, hail fell everywhere: several inches in Southern California and Saudi Arabia, TWO FEET in Bogota, Colombia, and softball-sized hail in Eastern Australia. From space, large meteor fireballs were seen from across the U.S. Mountain West, Central Europe, and Western Australia, while the planet was bathed in green and pink as the strongest auroras during this solar cycle reached extreme latitudes in both hemispheres.

Wildfires in the Southern Hemisphere hit Valparaiso, Chile (again), and 'fire-nadoes' several stories tall formed outside Cape Town, South Africa. Spectacular volcanic eruptions last month included Villarica volcano in Chile spewing lava 1km into the night sky, Turrialba volcano in Costa Rica having its most powerful eruption in 20 years, and Colima volcano in Mexico sending ash 3km high. The combined effects of these climate extremes are giving rise to ever more mass animal deaths, with notable fish and bird kills along the Western Americas last month. Meanwhile in Holland, a wolf was spotted for the first time in 150 years as the species continues its westwards spread across Europe.

This week, The Truth Perspective spoke to Brandon Martinez, co-founder of Non-Aligned Media and author of a new book, The ISIS Conspiracy: How Israel and the West Manipulate Our Minds Through Fear. Brandon is a Canadian independent writer and journalist, who focuses on 20th and 21st century history, international affairs, Zionism, Israel-Palestine, media, and American and Canadian foreign policy. He is the author of two other books: Hidden History and Grand Deceptions.

We discussed Brandon's new book, the rise of ISIS, the nature of false-flag terrorism and what's really going on with the so-called war on terror, as well as some current events and developments in Canada under the Harper regime.

During the final segment of the show, we discussed more of the events surrounding the bombings in Yemen, the Ukrainian governments' collusion with neo-Nazi battalions, and the culture of psychopathy which has created a murderous police force in the U.S. We also discussed the banking system and its recent moves to take control of the private funds of individuals and small businesses by denying them access and in some cases seizing their funds using insubstantial excuses.

The Germanwings crash "trial by media" continues unabated. The most recent evidence produced to back up the official story is the alleged discovery of a cell phone video of the last moments of the plane and its passengers. Reporters from both French magazine Paris Match and German daily Bild claim to have viewed the video that portrayed a scene "so chaotic that it was hard to identify people" where "the sounds of the screaming passengers made it perfectly clear that they were aware of what was about to happen to them."

"It is a video that several of us saw together", said Frédéric Helbert of Paris Match, "that we watched dozens of times. You must understand that this video does not allow us to identify any people, it is not a sensationalist video. It is from a passenger who filmed from the back of the plane. The sound is atrocious. It shows the human dimension of panic, distress, screaming people on board. That is what is terrible. It is a very powerful human element, but it doesn't provide any information that might be useful for the investigation."

Indeed, such a video doesn't provide any information useful to the investigation, unless the investigation is being carried on by the mainstream media, with 'evidence', such as this video, being provided by persons unknown.

According to Helbert the video was obtained from "a source close to the investigation" that "required several levels of intermediaries connected to people working on the terrain." Whoever provided the alleged video to Paris Match and Bild did not, however, give them a copy. It seems the reporters were only shown the video, presumably on some media device like a laptop which was then taken away. Helbert said: "I don't have the video. We had the opportunity to see the video."

When I heard about the crash of Germanwings Flight GWI9525 in the French Alps on the morning of March 24th, I was shocked, but to be honest, not that shocked. It's not that I expected it to happen, but this was the fifth such incident in the last year. If that frequency is maintained, the statistically-very-low chances of meeting an untimely end on a commercial flight will have to be recalculated.

In the immediate aftermath of the crash I, like many others around the world, waited patiently for the details. What could possibly cause a modern, albeit a little aged, first-generation Airbus A320 to suddenly drop out of the sky and slam into a mountain side? I had a few theories, among them the incapacitating effects of an 'EMP' from an exploding overhead space rock. The shocking rise in fireball/meteorite sightings over the past 10 years makes this plausible, and might well have been the cause of the crash of AF447 into the South Atlantic ocean in 2009. But I waited, and I expected to wait because investigations of this sort can, and should, take quite a while to complete.

When dealing with airplane crashes, the most important information, even more important than the cockpit voice recordings, is the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) or ADR (Accident Data Recorder). The FDR records instructions sent to all electronic systems on an aircraft, including the auto-pilot and the security system for the entry to the cockpit.

This week on Behind the Headlines we spoke once again with Jon Ryman. Jon has published two video documentaries on the so-called terror masterminds Samantha Lewthwaite (aka White Widow) and Abdel Bary (aka at one point 'Jihadi John'). Egyptian born British rapper Bary was initially identified as 'Jihadi John', the black-clad figure in last year's spate of ISIS 'beheading' videos. One month ago however, the Washington Post claimed that Jihadi John was in fact Mohammed Emwazi, a Kuwait-born British man in his mid 20s from who grew up in West London.

Most interesting in these cases is the fact that all three of these alleged 'high profile' terrorists were well-known to British and US intelligence services with their families also having extensive links to the British and US establishments. In the case of the 'official' (for now) Jihadi John - Mohammed Emwazi - this "kind and gentle" computer programmer from London was harrassed for several years by British security Services. Emwazi is the subject of Jon's latest video documentary.

So what's really going on here? Are we witnessing a bizzare theatre constructed by Western governments, intelligence services with the mainstream media serving as stage hands?
