SOTT Focus: No 'Red Lines' After US-Backed Terrorists Massacre Idlib's Foua Civilians

Bus bombing Syria
© U-NewsPhoto of US-backed terrorist bus bombing against civilians in Syria
There are apparently no 'red lines' when it comes to the documented terrorism of death squads in Syria, be they the Free Syrian Army (FSA, who committed some of the most heinous massacres of Syrian civilians in 2011, in 2012, in 2013...), Nour al-Din al-Zenki child-beheaders, or Jaysh al-Islam (with their love of caging civilians to use as human shields and firing mortars on civilian areas of Damascus and outskirts).

On the afternoon of April 15, terrorist factions attacked buses carrying civilians from the long-besieged western Syria villages of Kafraya and Foua. Thus far, the death toll is reported to be at least 100, with some estimating a much higher number. Earlier Sputnik reported:
"The number of victims [in the explosion] is at least 70; over 130 are injured. It is difficult to say as there are many burnt bodies and body parts around the damaged buses," noting that "hit the Rashidin area on Aleppo's outskirts. The bus was waiting for entering the city of Aleppo."

"The blast supposedly was caused by a suicide attacker who detonated an explosive device. The car with the attacker approached the buses disguised as a vehicle transporting food."

SOTT Focus: Vladimir Putin Spells it Out: Syria Gas Attack Was a False Flag Attack

false flag attacks
Even before the victims of the alleged chemical weapons attack in Idlib could be laid to rest, cynical western politicians, primed to act on a pretext to escalate the war on Syria, scuttle coming peace talks and subvert a Syria conference in Brussels, reacted with premature accusations that the government of Bashar al-Assad was undoubtedly responsible. Ominously, the accusations were accompanied with threats to take further action, ranging from increasing sanctions on Syria to taking military action.

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: Trump's Hit and Run in Syria - Playing the Deep State Game

Trump dark side
"Assad can stay." "Syrians must determine their future." St. Petersburg bombed. Chemical attack in Syria. "Assad must go." "We must determine Syrians' future." Oh, what a difference a day makes. In a repeat of 2013, a trumped up jihadi production special of chemical weapons blamed on Assad has pushed Trump to respond in a way that even Obama didn't. According to CNN, he finally "became president" this week when he ordered the U.S. military to launch 29 Tomahawk missiles at a Syrian airbase. War hawks on the left and right rejoiced. America's allies rejoiced. Israel wept tears of joy. And yet...

Over half the missiles missed their targets (for reasons no one knows at this time). The base was practically empty. The damage was insignificant. Russia closed down the deconfliction phone lines and is now beefing up air defense in Syria. In other words, the event seems to have been more spectacle than substance. The Trump administration is reserving the right to do it again, but will they really risk putting Russia's missile defenses to the test? Or has Trump's attack had the paradoxical effect of making a future attack even less likely?

Today on Behind the Headlines we'll go behind the Trump-lines get to the bottom of the latest episode of Trump Being Trump. Prepare to laugh, cry, be horrified, and disturbingly entertained. It's never a dull day in Trumpland.

SOTT Focus: Fallout from U.S. attack on Syria: Trump loses popular support, congratulated on 'becoming president' by CNN

Shayrat air base
© Mikhail Voskresenskiy / SputnikThe wreckage of destroyed planes on Shayrat air base in Syria
Continuing our coverage of the yet-to-be-investigated chemical attack in Idlib, and the yet-to-be justified U.S. attack on a Syrian airbase by the U.S., here are the most important developments since our last update (available here).

First of all, confirming reports from on the ground at the airbase, and from the Russian Defense Ministry's press conference, that the damage caused by the U.S. Tomahawks (the 23 of 59 that actually hit their target, that is) was not very extensive - the Syrian air force has resumed use of the base. That's a good thing because, as Qusai Nasr, a relative of one of the 14 victims of the Tomahawk attack, told RT, it has been, and will continue to be, actively involved in the fight against ISIS in Syria. Now they can continue to fight the war on terror that the U.S. under Bush and Obama (and now, increasingly, under Trump) has only pretended to fight.

The Syrian Army confirmed their special forces fired at a US reconnaissance plane flying over northwestern Syria. Since the US is flying there illegally, who can blame them?

The U.S. claims the plane that allegedly launched the alleged chemical weapons attack in Idlib came from the targeted base. If so, there would be stores of chemical weapons at the base. And since the ammunition storehouses were targeted, you'd think some of those WMDs would've been hit. Nope. Journalists were at the scene in the immediate aftermath of the strikes - no hazmat suits required... because the Syrian military doesn't have any chemical weapons. It's really that simple.

SOTT Focus: SOTT Earth Changes Summary - March 2017: Extreme Weather, Planetary Upheaval, Meteor Fireballs

Wildfires USA March 2017
Planetary environmental chaos continued unabated this month. Several spectacular fireballs were seen from one end of the world to the other. Wildfires ravaged several mid-West states while unusually strong winds hit Illinois and New York. Madagascar got slammed by a ferocious storm as did Brazil, New Zealand and France.

Severe flooding hit several parts of the globe, but the worst affected was Peru where dozens of people died and hundreds of thousands have been left with no homes. With freak tidal waves from Iran to South Africa, strange 'gas' explosions in the UK and methane gas leaks in Russia, not to mention snow off the coast of Africa and lightning scoring direct strikes on cars, March was a pretty intense month for the planet and its inhabitants.

Trump

The wicked witch of the west made an appearance at the Women of the World Summit in New York, calling on the forces of darkness to descend upon Syria in a blood sacrifice that would tame the gods' thirst for blood. Well, not quite, but pretty much. It was Hillary Clinton, and she had this to say:
"That air force is the cause of most of the civilian deaths, as we have seen over the years and as we saw again in the last few days," Clinton said. "I really believe that we should have โ€” and still should โ€” take out his airfields and prevent him from being able to use them to bomb innocent people and drop sarin gas on them," she added, referring to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and aligning herself with the likes of Iraq War architect Bill Kristol and neoconservatives such as Republican Senator John McCain.

Well, it appears that Trump has obliged. The likes of Clinton, McCain, and every other bloodthirsty maniac in the Washington war lobby are no doubt pleased. First things first, what is being reported?

SOTT Focus: St. Petersburg Metro Bombing, Syria Chemical Attack - Trump Folds to the 'Deep State'?

trump petersburg attack flowers
It's been an interesting few days in the world of geopolitically-relevant terror attacks and 'Trump vs. the Deep State' (both of which are far from mutually exclusive).

First we had the St. Petersburg attack where some young guy from Kyrgyzstan with no history of violence decided to detonate an IED on a train, killing himself and 14 innocent civilians. Russian police apparently found the DNA of Akbarzhon Jalilov, who had lived in Russia for a number of years, in the metro carriage where the explosion happened, and on a second unexploded device at another metro station. Of course, this doesn't mean that Jalilov acted alone or was the 'mastermind' of the atrocity. As I have hypothesized on several occasions, anyone naive or manipulatable enough to carry a backpack, given to them by someone else, to a specific location, can become an instant unwitting 'suicide bomber'.

So who might have been Jalilov's accomplices? According to the Western media, somewhere near the top of the list is Putin himself. The BBC had no problem in theorizing that the bombing was "some kind of attempt to distract attention from calls for a corruption investigation and calls for President Putin himself to step down..."

SOTT Focus: SOTT MINUTE: 'New' US Policy On Syria Is Not What It Seems!

Sott Minute Syria policy

Transcript:

After six years of the United States setting up Assad as a brutal dictator, arming and funding terrorist 'moderate rebels', destroying Syrian infrastructure, laying waste to the Syrian nation, and initiating the refugee crisis, the US has decided maybe their genius plan to oust Assad wasn't the best idea after all. I'm Shane LaChance for Sott.net and this is The Sott Minute.

RT reports that US Ambassador Nikki Haley told reporters Thursday that the new administration has changed their priorities regarding 'Assad must go'.

Haley said,
"Our priority is no longer to sit there and focus on getting Assad out."

"Our priority is to really look at how do we get things done, who do we need to work with to really make a difference for the people in Syria."
