When I wrote the article about the "Most Dangerous Decade" two weeks ago, I didn't realize that my time frame was too optimistic. What's happening now in Syria has the potential to start WW III - numerous American, British and French aircraft carriers, submarines and fighter jets have converged just off the Syrian coast, while Russian warships and planes are scrambling to defend and retaliate.

An apparent false flag chemical attack in the Syrian town of Douma on April 7 has served as a pretext for the United States to threaten the Middle Eastern country with a missile strike; Russia has been calling for a transparent investigation while local doctors have said no one has requested any medical treatments for poisoning.

The Russian Defense Ministry held a press briefing on what the Western narrative describes as an alleged chemical attack in Syria's Eastern Ghouta. No evidence has been presented to support the claim. A Russian chemical corps commission that has been sent to Douma reported that no traces of chemical poisoning were found. On April 12, the US defense secretary acknowledged that the Pentagon had no evidence of chlorine or sarin use in Douma.

Speaking at the briefing, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said that the ministry has enough evidence that the planned provocation with chemical weapons was carried out in Syria's Douma on April 7.

Vil Mirzayanov is a former Russian chemist who allegedly worked on the development of 'Novichok'. He fled to the USA in the 1990s after blowing the whistle on Russian chemical weapons. Commenting on the report that Yulia Skripal has been released from hospital, Mirzayanov explained that Novichok is "very unstable and vulnerable to water".

Since the weather in England on March 4, the day Skripals were allegedly poisoned, was humid and foggy, the chemical's potency was greatly reduced. "Only an idiot would've used this substance in humid conditions," he declared.

British Minister of State for Transport Jo Johnson (brother of Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson) appears to have been caught wearing a 'wire' during a recent BBC Question Time interview that discussed the planned attack on Syria.

The voice that 'interrupts' Johnson from a device in his pocket mentions "finding something on Syria" and "it's also been decided that we must tell the media..."

How many other British politicians use a similar device, and does this mean that politicians are merely mouth-pieces and spokespeople for those who really determine government policy?

Reports on unproven allegations of a chemical attack in Douma, the Syria city formerly occupied by the Army of Islam insurgent group, invariably rely on a key source: The Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS). Together with the White Helmets, SAMS has been cited by the Washington Post, New York Times, CNN and virtually every Western media organization reporting on the incident. In Douma, SAMS staff have claimed that they treated more than 500 people for symptoms "indicative of exposure to a chemical agent."

The group also played a central role in shaping the narrative of a sarin attack in Al Qaeda-controlled Khan Sheikhoun in April, 2017, providing biomedical samples to the Organization for the Prevention of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), which violated its stated protocol by accepting evidence without a verifiable chain of custody. That incident prompted the launching of 57 cruise missiles at a Syrian air base by the American military. Almost exactly a year later, a strikingly similar event is said to have tripped the "red line" again, and is likely to trigger a more robust assault by the US and its allies.

SAMS claims to be a "non-political, non-profit medical organization," and is cited as a credible authority by media reporting on the incident in Douma. Scant published material is available on the organization's origins as an exile arm of the Islamist-oriented Syrian opposition, its involvement in sophisticated influence operations from the Turkish-Syrian border, or its close relationship to neoconservative elements in Washington and Al Qaeda's affiliate in Syria.

SAMS is not merely a group of Syrian doctors tending to the wounded in war torn areas, nor can it be considered a objective source on chemical attacks and other atrocities. The organization is a USAID-funded lobbying powerhouse that functions with a single-minded determination to stimulate a US-led war of regime change that will place Syrian Islamists in power in Damascus.

Justice is supposed to be blind, or at least that's the way it used to be. However, if it were up to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, he'd rip off that sacred blindfold faster than his own T-shirt at a gay pride parade.

New Legislation

At the end of March, the Liberal government tabled Bill C-75 in the house of Commons outlining major criminal justice reforms. While some aspects of the bill seemed positive, like the promises to speed up the trial process, other measures introduced were taken straight from the identity politics playbook, and threaten to undermine the objectivity and impartiality of the Canadian judicial system itself.

The most questionable item in the legislation was the complete removal of peremptory challenges in the juror selection process from the Criminal Code. This provision used to allow lawyers to remove a potential juror without giving reasons. The government's justification for this move was likely in response to the Colten Boushie trial, where many left-leaning activists felt the predominantly white jury were overtly racist in their decision to acquit Gerald Stanley.

Four Nor'easters hit the East coast of the US and Canada this March, bringing arctic conditions and meters of snow, leaving millions without power, disrupting traffic and destroying crops. Interestingly enough, the fourth Nor'easter arrived just hours after the Spring equinox. Storms in Texas and Alabama dumped enormous hailstones that caused widespread destruction over many counties. Meanwhile, California suffered one of its worst floods in decades, and record snowfall hit elsewhere in the US West.

On the other side of the Atlantic, the UK continued to suffer the ravages of the 'Beast from the East' that joined forces with Storm Emma, plummeting temperatures and breaking March snowfall records. The rest of Europe also had its share of unseasonable extreme cold, with rare snowfalls in Italy, Spain, Portugal and Romania. Meanwhile, frozen canals in Amsterdam stunned locals.

Saudi Arabia was battered once and again in March by (formerly rare) snowfall, hail, and flooding. Kenya suffered one of their its heaviest rainy seasons, with record flooding, landslides and a 3 km crack in the earth that disrupted traffic and baffled locals. Meanwhile Algeria was blanketed with a rare snowfall that damaged crops and disrupted transport.

Australia continued to suffer from heavy rains, hail and flooding during March, not least from tropical cyclone Marcus, which smashed into Darwin and left widespread destruction.

The animal kingdom is apparently also telling us that something is not quite right with the environment: March also saw another series of enraged animals, stranded whales and dolphins, and mass animal deaths. Recent news that our planet's ocean currents are undergoing dramatic change just adds to the rather frigid global outlook.

Russian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov has warned that Russia would respond to any US military strike flowing from a false flag chemical weapons attack blamed on the Syrian government and Russia. So what's the big deal? The general made the warning nearly a month ago...

Speaking at a press briefing on March 13, Gerasimov warned that the Russian defense ministry had obtained "reliable information" about plans by terrorists in Eastern Ghouta to launch a false chemical attack on civilians in the region and blame it on the Syrian government. According to the officer, 'White Helmets' activists and the accompanying film crews had already arrived at the scene with the necessary satellite equipment to spread the news of this 'attack' to the world media.

Given that we're on the precipice of World War III, I figured it was important to address a topic that gets little attention in the mainstream media (certainly not an accident). Deadly smoothies.

A couple of paleo peeps around the interwebs have been drawing attention to a study about the case of 65-year-old woman who managed to achieve full kidney failure doing a 10-day "green smoothie cleanse". From the study, "She had normal kidney function before using the cleanse and developed acute kidney injury that progressed to end-stage renal disease."

Wow. I bet the hippies have their yoga pants in a twist over this one!

The whole thing does seem a bit counter-intuitive, though. Green smoothies are supposed to be healthy, after all.
