MindMatters: Gurdjieff, Death, and Help for the Dead with Joseph Azize

azize
According to the vast "afterlife" literature, those who have passed on sometimes send signs, or even communicate through dreams or visions. But what if the support that many living claim to experience from their loved ones isn't unidirectional? Can one, in fact, help those who have passed to come to greater peace and understanding at their soul's new station in 'life'? For those of us familiar with the ideas, exercises and philosophy of G.I. Gurdjieff, it may come as some surprise, and perhaps delight, to learn that Gurdjieff sought to address such a question - how to give "help for the deceased" - particularly for those who were once close to us.

This week on MindMatters we are once again joined by inimitable Gurdjieffian scholar and Maronite Priest Joseph Azize whose paper "Gurdjieff's Help for the Deceased" delves into this subject. Join us as Joseph shares his research, insights and personal experience with some very little known exercises of Gurdjieff's - and explains not only the means from which one could honor and assist our loved ones (should they require it), 'essence to essence' as it were - but also to help grow and develop one's own self and Being.

NewsReal: Trump, Musk and Free Speech: Who Decides?

trump musk twitter newsreal
© Sott.net
Elon Musk has reinstated Trump's Twitter account, and Trump has declared his candidacy for the 2024 US presidential election. With the US mid-term votes not yet fully 'counted', and the Brazilian government cracking down on mass demonstrations against their 'free and fair' presidential election, what way forward for 'free speech' and democrats (actual ones - not to be confused with Democrats)?

Elsewhere in this week's NewsReal run-down of events in Clown World, Joe and Niall take in more strange 'jungle' analogies from European leaders lecturing Asian and African audiences, violent riots in Iran where 'mystery snipers' are targeting both protesters and security forces, and the Turkish government blaming the US government for last week's terror attack in Istanbul. An outrageous claim, surely?...

MindMatters: Esoteric Christianity: A Glimpse into Theosophia

theosophia
One of western Christianity's best-kept secrets is its esoteric, mystical tradition. Starting with Jacob Boehme in the early 1600s, the theosophic branch is one of the most fascinating yet least well-known among the world's mystical traditions. Today on MindMatters we take inspiration from Arthur Versluis's two books, Theosophia and Wisdom's Children to make a first foray into the rich language and practice of the Christian theosophers.

SOTT Earth Changes Summary - October 2022: Extreme Weather, Planetary Upheaval, Meteor Fireballs

ecs102022
Record rains and devastating floods hit at least 19 countries across West and Central Africa killing thousands and displacing tens of thousands. Over one million acres of cropland have been destroyed worsening the burgeoning hunger crisis. This has been considered one of the deadliest disasters in the region.
"The rainfall this year is exceptional. There have been sustained rains since the beginning of the season, since August, September, and even until October now, it continues to rain," said Kousoumna Libaa, a climate specialist.
Nigeria experienced its worst floods in a decade, taking the lives of at least 600, while tens of thousands of livestock were lost to the waters and waterborne diseases. 18 of Nigeria's 36 states were affected.

In Cameroon, flood waters caused significant damage in the northern region, destroying crops and houses, and Chad's government declared a state of emergency after the floods affected more than 1 million people.

Some farmers have lost close to 75% of everything planted this year, a new factor that will worsen food prices as inflation rates are already at record highs.

NewsReal: What's the REAL Reason For West-Russia War Over Ukraine?

newsreal twitter musk
© Sott.net
They say it's for protecting Ukraine from Russian invasion, and that even if Putin 'gets what he wants' from there, 'standing up for Ukraine' is 'just the right thing to do'.

Obviously, this reason is not credible, coming as it does from people who destroyed Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria. There are always REAL reasons - usually Big Money ones - behind the propaganda narratives.

So, in Ukraine's case, what is it that impels NATO countries to send their entire military arsenals to Ukraine, plunge their economies into economic despair and energy blackouts, and risk permanently upending global stability? In the first hour of this NewsReal, Joe and Niall come up with a 'big picture answer'.

The second hour covers the upcoming US Mid-Term Elections (will Trump-backed candidates win 'bigly', or will the Democratic Party pull off another 'miraculous' victory?), and the bizarre incident involving the Speaker of the House's elderly husband, a hammer, and a strange friend - who the media suggests was a pro-Trump right-winger who entered the Pelosis' home with assassination on his mind.

Right...

Wot's in the Shots?

Graphene oxide? Nanobots?

What is in the Pfizer vaccines? Recently, Dr David Nixon, a Brisbane GP, decided to find out, putting droplets of vaccine and the blood of vaccinated patients under a dark-field microscope.

That's a more radical decision than it might sound. According to Sasha Latypova, a scientist with 25 years of experience in clinical trials for pharmaceutical companies, the contract between Pfizer and the US government prohibits independent researchers from studying the vaccines. They claim it would 'divert' these precious resources away from their intended use fulfilling an 'urgent' need.

Is that true in Australia? Who knows? All the Commonwealth Department of Health has said about its contract with Pfizer is that it is commercial-in-confidence.

MindMatters: Truth-Killing Cancel Culture Has Always Existed to Bolster the Status Quo

cancel culture
The cancel culture phenomenon has reared its rancorous and destructive head to such a degree that many holding non-mainstream points of view are made to think twice about sharing them in public. For cancel culture doesn't merely seek to respond to the differing perspectives with counterarguments in honest debate. It seeks to stifle the message completely and even, in the worst cases, annihilate the speaker himself.

While we're aware of how this pathological and ideological weaponization of rhetoric exists in contemporary times, the tools or modus operandi of cancel culture have actually been around for a good long time - especially when someone's particular message challenges conventional wisdom - or, in more meaningful cases, questions the higher truths of the reality in which we're immersed.

Join us this week on MindMatters as we discuss the drives some people have to become cancel culturists, what forces may be behind it, and the rhetorical patterns that always seem to be on the misguided side of an argument.

The Crusades: Germany's Obedience to America's 'Papal Primacy'

Germany has become an economic satellite of America's New Cold War with Russia, China and the rest of Eurasia. Germany and other NATO countries have been told to impose trade and investment sanctions upon themselves that will outlast today's proxy war in Ukraine. U.S. President Biden and his State Department spokesmen have explained that Ukraine is just the opening arena in a much broader dynamic that is splitting the world into two opposing sets of economic alliances. This global fracture promises to be a ten- or twenty-year struggle to determine whether the world economy will be a unipolar U.S.-centered dollarized economy, or a multipolar, multi-currency world centered on the Eurasian heartland with mixed public/private economies.

President Biden has characterized this split as being between democracies and autocracies. The terminology is typical Orwellian double-speak. By "democracies" he means the U.S. and allied Western financial oligarchies. Their aim is to shift economic planning out of the hands of elected governments to Wall Street and other financial centers under U.S. control. U.S. diplomats use the International Monetary Fund and World Bank to demand privatization of the world's infrastructure and dependency on U.S. technology, oil and food exports.

Truth Cops: Leaked Documents Outline US Govt Plans to 'Police Disinformation'

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security logo is seen displayed on a smartphone.
The Department of Homeland Security is quietly broadening its efforts to curb speech it considers dangerous, an investigation by The Intercept has found. Years of internal DHS memos, emails, and documents — obtained via leaks and an ongoing lawsuit, as well as public documents — illustrate an expansive effort by the agency to influence tech platforms.

The work, much of which remains unknown to the American public, came into clearer view earlier this year when DHS announced a new "Disinformation Governance Board": a panel designed to police misinformation (false information spread unintentionally), disinformation (false information spread intentionally), and malinformation (factual information shared, typically out of context, with harmful intent) that allegedly threatens U.S. interests. While the board was widely ridiculed, immediately scaled back, and then shut down within a few months, other initiatives are underway as DHS pivots to monitoring social media now that its original mandate — the war on terror — has been wound down.

Comment: From the Post Millennial:
After the release of a damning report from The Intercept on Monday that showed unequivocally that the Department of Homeland Security had been instructing big tech companies how to moderate content on their platform, #DHSLeaks began trending on Twitter, and quickly moved up the charts to be at number 5 on Twitter's trending charts in the US.

Prior to 2020, it was reported that DHS met with Twitter, Facebook, Wikipedia, and other platforms in order to coordinate "content moderation" operations. These meetings were part of an ongoing initiative that saw collusion and collaboration between DHS and big tech to determine how "misinformation" would be dealt with on those platforms.
One of the authors of the above piece appeared on Tucker Carlson recently:

War and Regrets in Ukraine

ukraine
© Carl Court/Getty Images
Of the Vietnam War, Henry Kissinger, former national security advisor and secretary of State under Presidents Nixon and Ford, said, "We should never have been there." Before long, Americans, even the politicians inside the Beltway, will reach the same conclusion about Washington's Ukrainian proxy war against Russia.

No one in the White House, the Senate, or the House consciously set out to turn the proxy Ukrainian war with Moscow into a contest of "competitive societal collapse" between Russia and NATO. But here we are. No one imagined that the Biden administration and the bipartisan war party would drive Americans and Europeans into a political, military, and economic valley of death, from which there is no easy escape. Yet that is precisely what is happening.

For the moment, Washington remains blind to these developments. Whether in print, radio, television, or online, the narrative is clear: despite horrific losses — at least 400,000 Ukrainian battlefield casualties including 100,000 soldiers killed in action — Ukrainian forces are winning. Moreover, the narrative says, America's financial and economic dominance will ultimately overwhelm the deceptively weak Russian economy.
