The New World Order. Is it here? Is it on the way? What does the New World Order really mean? Leaving aside the conspiracy theory definition where a secret elite has been planning to replace nations states and install a 'one world government', a few notable 20th century politicians used the term (most of them from Western nations) to describe a new period of history characterized by a dramatic change in world political thought and the balance of power after the 20th century's 2 world wars.

That 'new balance of power' when referred to by Woodrow Wilson, Churchill and George HW Bush, was decidedly weighted towards the USA and its allies. Bush used the term along with Gorbachev to describe a post Cold War era and a spirit of co-operation between the 'Great Powers'. But in 1990, when Bush and Gorbachev made their speech, Russia was no longer a 'great power', and Bush felt comfortable qualifying the idea of 'co-operation' by saying "there is no substitute for American leadership". The post WW2 and post Cold War New World Order was in reality a euphemism for the 'New American Century' where America would reign supreme and unchallenged.

As we sit here in the year 2017 and look at the world around us, we see that America's vision for a NWO and New American Century is in shambles, with the architects of the American Empire reduced to setting fire (literally and figuratively) to countries in a futile attempt to stave off the moment of its complete collapse.

This week on BTH we'll be taking a look at the real new world order that is taking shape and how it radically diverges from the supposedly well laid plans of the Western political elite. We'll also be gazing into our crystal balls to predict what moves on the grand chessboard can be expected as the anglo-American empire builders grow increasingly desperate.

It's all too easy for Western governments, their media and 'NGOs' to jerk the emotional chains of Western populations. A humanitarian crisis can be ongoing for years, but if Western governments have nothing to gain from it (or are partly responsible for it), the Western media says little about it and the populations of Western nations remain oblivious. If, on the other hand, Western governments decide that some beleaguered group of people should become the next humanitarian cause célèbre in service to some geopolitical intrigue, the Western press is activated and suddenly everyone is 'up in arms' with calls to 'do something' to help the poor [insert name of ethnic or religious group in specific geopolitical hotspot]. You could call it 'humanitarian imperialism'.

The whole world has had several masterclasses in this kind of manipulation, from babies in incubators in Kuwait in 1991 to helping the poor Bosnian and Kosovar Muslims in Yugoslavia in 1999 to '45 minutes to Iraqi WMD destruction' in 2003, to the more recent and unsophisticated ploy of claiming that a given leader of a given nation is a 'dictator killing his own people'. Despite these opportunities to inform themselves about how the world really works, like Pavlov's dogs, the global population can still be relied on to react in the wrong way at the sounding of the 'humanitarian' bell.

In 2006, the movie Idiocracy was released. It depicted a dystopian society where advertising, commercialism, and cultural anti-intellectualism run rampant. Humans are devoid of intellectual curiosity, social responsibility, and coherent notions of justice and human rights. Humans are so dumbed down they communicate in slang, grunts and icons. Corporations control every aspect of life, the earth is covered in trash, the crops are dead and entertainment is juvenile and absurd.

Over the years the movie has been called a 'documentary' because it essentially depicts, in a humorous manner, the sign of the times. Join us as we discuss the similarities between this cult film and our world today. Are we living in an era of rampant stupidity? Is there any hope? Is there a field guide when it comes to dealing with stupid people? How do we identify and avoid - as much as possible - the often irreparable harm such people can inflict?

The disease we now call AIDS burst onto the scene in 1981 after a group of gay males in New York City and Orange County were stricken with a rare type of pneumonia and sarcoma. A year later GRID (gay related immune deficiency) morphed into AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) and in 1984 the 'probable' cause of AIDS was named. It was called HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) and the entire world recoiled in fear whilst subjected to a publicity campaign the likes of which had never been seen. According to HIV/AIDS researchers, everyone -- not just gay men and IV drug users -- is susceptible. The science was clear and to be diagnosed was a death sentence.

But is it? From the beginning there were disturbing questions raised regarding the shoddy scientific methods involved in identifying HIV and the unreliable testing parameters required for a definitive diagnosis. These questions were never fully answered by mainstream science and what we're left with is a morass of confusion, contradiction and of course, suffering and death. On this episode we dip our toes into heresy and denialism and ask the question: What if the HIV/AIDS hypothesis is just that -- a hypothesis?

North Korea's supreme leader Kim Jong-un is not looking for a war. If we want to understand the motives behind his shocking threats - surpassed only by his US counterparts - we have to look past the Western media pundits and political figures dismissing him as "a crazy fat kid".

Many statements in the Western press against the North Korean regime are exaggerations or fabrications with a kernel of truth, as part of the usual propaganda treatment that the Western establishment reserves for the 'objectionables'. As far as we know, Kim Jong-un is a dictator who, following in the steps of his father and grandfather, holds tight control of his country, and who executed his uncle Jang Song-thaek (and possibly his uncle's family) back in 2013 after accusing him of treason and attempting a military coup.

But as ruthless as he may be, there is no reason to think Kim Jong-un would be willing to engage in nuclear war with the United States. Kim Jong-un and his father cannot have missed the way in which the US and their allies destroyed Iraq and Libya, despite Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi's attempts to appease the West, and have surely learned from those lessons.

With much of the Western world and media focusing on hurricanes Harvey and Irma in the last week or two, you could be forgiven for thinking that the rest of the world was relatively peaceful, from a climate point of view. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, hurricane Harvey came at the end of yet another month of seriously destructive and 'anomalous' weather around the world, some of which made Harvey look relatively benign.

On Tuesday July 25th, Nigeria's northeastern province of Borno was attacked by Boko Haram terrorists. The ambush attack against a convoy of specialists from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) left more than 50 people dead and 83 others injured.

Interestingly, this attack occurred shortly after Nigeria announced it is reviving its search for oil - aided by China - in the northeast. Two days after the attack, the Nigerian Federal Government said it would halt oil exploration in the lake Chad basin.

This area, and other northern parts, have been a target of terrorists since 2009. The country has however dealt with attacks on oil (pipelines and exploration teams) before Boko Haram 'officially' started carrying out attacks in 2009 after its founding in 2002.

Nigeria has been an important source of oil and petroleum for China for decades, and both countries have cooperated on oil exploration since at least 2006. Oil exploration has however been difficult with the presence of Boko Haram, and militant groups in the oil-rich region in the south.

When 'Giant of Africa' Nigeria handed licenses to China's National Petroleum Corporation in 2006 to explore four blocks - two areas in Niger Delta (southern Nigeria) and two in the Borno Lake Chad basin - attacks by militant groups increased. Six years later, in 2012, oil reserves in the Lake Chad Basin were discovered, but was followed by a strong resurgence of attacks by Boko Haram making it difficult for geologists and others to access the area.

Cloudcroft chief stops Israelis with suspicious cargo

Cloudcroft, New Mexico -- That they were speeding through the school zone first got his attention.

That they had Israeli driver's licenses and expired passports made him suspicious.

Cloudcroft Police Chief Gene Green stopped the 2-ton van on Thursday, for speeding. Initially, Green thought the truck was commercial because of exterior markings. But when he found it was out of Chicago, he asked for documentation such as logs books and manifests.

"They said this is a U-Haul truck and handed me a rental agreement (for) in-town delivery only in Illinois, (which) had expired two days before," Green said. He called for backup, and Otero County Sheriff's Deputy Billy Anders, who patrols the Sacramento Mountains, arrived, along with Capt. Norbert Sanchez and Det. Eddie Medrano.

"We got them out and started digging a little deeper," Green said, "got permission to search the truck. They claimed they were hauling furniture from Austin to Chicago." When officers advised the men they were not exactly en route from one town to another, Green said the two men claimed they were Deming bound. "But they couldn't give us an address in Deming they were going to," he said. "Once we got into the truck, they had some junk furniture I wouldn't have given to Goodwill."

Also inside the vehicle were, Green said, "50 boxes" they claimed was a "private" delivery, but the men insisted they had no "idea what was in them."

At that point, the officers called for drug-sniffing and bomb-sniffing dogs. The men were turned over to the Immigration and Naturalization Service, and U- Haul recovered the truck.

Contents of the boxes remain unknown, pending investigation.
