MindMatters: Follow the Leader - Étienne de La Boétie's Politics of Obedience

de la boetie
If tyrannical leaders are so few, and the people over which they rule so many - then why do the masses so often take it on the proverbial chin? What prevents the vast numbers of the oppressed from refusing to submit to the relatively small numbers of individuals who are doing all the oppressing? It's a good question that many are asking today - and that French political essayist Étienne de La Boétie asked more than 450 years ago in his now classic treatise The Politics of Obedience: The Discourse of Voluntary Servitude. Seeing injustice all around him, and while still an idealistic student of law, La Boétie's questions provided the groundwork for political thought and action for centuries to come - influencing thinkers of the calibre of Tolstoy and Gandhi - and form a point of departure from which many sought to reasonably act without calling hell upon their heads.

This week on MindMatters we examine The Politics Of Obedience and what it seems to be saying about power structures, the nature of servitude and the conditioning that citizens are largely subject to - and need to be rid of. Analyzing its virtues and flaws, we ask how we can apply the writer's answers to today (short of taking out the pitchforks), and what it means to be truly free in a world of nameless technocrats and their rules and agendas.

Facemasks, Lies, Damn Lies, And Public Health Officials: "A Growing Body of Evidence"

face mask litter streets

Facemask discarded on a street in Quebec
A vile new mantra is on the lips of every public health official and politician in the global campaign to force universal masking on the general public: "there is a growing body of evidence". This propagandistic phrase is a vector designed to achieve five main goals:
  • Give the false impression that a balance of evidence now proves that masks reduce the transmission of COVID-19
  • Falsely assimilate commentary made in scientific venues with "evidence"
  • Hide the fact that a decade's worth of policy-grade evidence proves the opposite: that masks are ineffective with viral respiratory diseases
  • Hide the fact that there is now direct observational proof that cloth masks do not prevent exhalation of clouds of suspended aerosol particles; above, below and through the masks
  • Deter attention away from the considerable known harms and risks due to face masks, applied to entire populations
The said harms and risks include that a cloth mask becomes a culture medium for a large variety of bacterial pathogens, and a collector of viral pathogens; given the hot and humid environment and the constant source, where home fabrics are hydrophilic whereas medical masks are hydrophobic.

In short, I argue: op-eds are not "evidence", irrelevance does not help, and more bias does not remove bias. Their mantra of "a growing body of evidence" is a self-serving contrivance that impedes good science and threatens public safety.

I prove that there is no policy-grade evidence to support forced masking on the general population, and that all the latest-decade's policy-grade evidence points to the opposite: NOT recommending forced masking of the general population. Therefore, the politicians and health authorities are acting without legitimacy and recklessly.

The article is organized into the following sections:
  • Introduction
  • Competence to talk about face masks and COVID-19
  • Government responses have been a public-health and safety catastrophe
  • The "growing body of evidence" mantra needs to stop
  • So, what actually is the "growing body of evidence"?

Objective:Health: Germ Theory vs. Terrain Theory - Why Not Both?

O:H header
Thanks to Louis Pasteur, a cornerstone of our modern medicine has been based on the notion of 'killing germs'. But current science is telling us that struggling against germs is not an accurate portrayal of what it means to be healthy.

Rather than thinking of our bodies as a battlefield, humans and microbes must now be seen as a co-evolved system for the mutual benefit of both the host and resident microbes. Health is the result of balanced harmony between resident microbes and human cells.

But alas, the germ theory is holding strong, with every new disease, no matter how benign (*cough* covid...), setting the medical establishment into full military mode, trying to come up with vaccines and medications to eradicate 'the enemy'. This paradigm has been with us for well over a century and yet we seem to have come to a dead end. Perhaps the mainstream medical establishment needs to incorporate some of Terrain theory into its tool kit to truly get to the bottom of human disease and how to deal with it.

Join us on this episode of Objective:Health as we look into where both germ theory and terrain theory get it right (and wrong).

The Cambridge Four: Spies Who Hijacked America

As a doctoral candidate at Cambridge working under "FBI Informant" Stefan Halper, I had a front-row seat for Russiagate

Global scandals now labeled Russiagate, Spygate, and what President Trump calls "Obamagate" shook the political world, but hit me closer to home. I'm the reason the so-called FBI "spy" at the center of Spygate, Stefan Halper, met Carter Page, the alleged "Russian Asset" in Russiagate's Crossfire Hurricane investigation.

On May 19, 2018, this realization blindsided me in London as I was about to fly out for my wedding. The New York Times, NBC News and other sources had outed my PhD supervisor, Stefan Halper, as a spy known to the UK's MI6 intelligence service as "The Walrus."

It didn't seem real. Could a former professor I once trusted as a mentor have betrayed his word, profession, and country to start these disasters? I had moved to England to pursue an academic career and leave DC's politics behind, only to have my PhD supervisor throw me back into the most outrageous political firestorms I could imagine. Just my luck. Then an even worse question began nagging at me. Did I unintentionally light the match that started it all?

Invasion of the New Normals

Invasion of the Body Snatchers
They're here! No, not the pod people from Invasion of the Body Snatchers. We're not being colonized by giant alien fruit. I'm afraid it is a little more serious than that. People's minds are being taken over by a much more destructive and less otherworldly force ... a force that transforms them overnight into aggressively paranoid, order-following, propaganda-parroting totalitarians.

You know the people I'm talking about. Some of them are probably your friends and family, people you have known for years, and who had always seemed completely rational, but who are now convinced that we need to radically alter the fabric of human society to protect ourselves from a virus that causes mild to moderate flu-like symptoms (or absolutely no symptoms at all) in over 95% of those infected, and that over 99.6% survive, which, it goes without saying, is totally insane.

I've been calling them "corona-totalitarians," but I'm going to call them the "New Normals" from now on, as that more accurately evokes the pathologized-totalitarian ideology they are systematically spreading. At this point, I think it is important to do that, because, clearly, their ideological program has nothing to do with any actual virus, or any other actual public health threat. As is glaringly obvious to anyone whose mind has not been taken over yet, the "apocalyptic coronavirus pandemic" was always just a Trojan horse, a means of introducing the "New Normal," which they've been doing since the very beginning.

SOTT Earth Changes Summary - July 2020: Extreme Weather, Planetary Upheaval, Meteor Fireballs

secs720
July 2020 saw record volumes of rainfall, killing hundreds of people, leaving millions displaced or homeless, and destroying crops around the world.

Asia seemed to get the worst of it, with extreme monsoon rain and consequential flooding killing hundreds of people in China, Japan, South Korea, Nepal, Bangladesh and India. China in particular continues to battle its worst flooding in decades as the water level of 433 rivers remains above the flood-control line, with 33 of them reaching record highs.

Heavy rain and floods have ravaged Assam, India, since May, affecting 2 to 3 million people across 27 districts, and claiming the lives of more than 100 people and destroying crops.

The Future is 'Clear', And It's Dystopian: Virus Hype Ushers in a Covid-1984 Nightmare of Restricted Access

Clear's new Health Pass and other 'Covid hi-tech innovations' are a stark warning of how the globalist 'New Normal' being mapped out will operate. Access to travel, sport & restaurants may be barred for all who refuse to comply.

"Originally launched in May, Health Pass is an extension of Clear's mobile app. The service links COVID-19 related data like a health questionnaire and temperature check to assess whether someone is healthy enough to enter a certain venue. Additionally, the app has the capability to link COVID-19 test results through partnerships with labs, and eventually vaccination status."

That's how Condé Nast Traveller described the latest piece of technology by the biometric ID company Clear, which will help the authorities determine who will, and who will not, be allowed to go to the ball.

Fact-Checking a 'Fact-Checker' on Covid-19: A Response to HealthFeedback.org

Fact Checking Covid-19
© Unknown
On July 12 an organization called Health Feedback posted a review of my and Patrick Corbett's July 2 OffGuardian article on the bombshell revelations of Bulgarian Pathology Association President Dr. Stoian Alexov. They stamped it "inaccurate."

This article is a refutation of Health Feedback's so-called fact-checking. I show why Dr. Alexov's statements, in fact, fit the evidence, and punch plenty of other holes in Health Feedback's claim that our article is "clearly wrong" and has "very little credibility."

Health Feedback's review is fatally faulty right off the top, when the review's unnamed author mistakes my co-author Patrick Corbett for James Corbett of The Corbett Report: the screencap at the top of the review is from James Corbett's June 16 interview with me.

The review also takes a swipe at outlets that reposted our article: it notes Media Bias/Fact Check dubs GlobalResearch.ca and Australian National Review "conspiracy websites."

MindMatters: First Sight, Polyvagal Theory, and Contemplative Practices

vagus nerve
What does meditation or contemplation have to do with our physiology? And what is the possible connection between our autonomic nervous system and a coherent theory of psi? Today on MindMatters we bring together three topics: contemplative practice (see our interviews with Fr. Joseph Azize), first sight theory (see our interview with Dr. Jim Carpenter), and Stephen Porges's polyvagal theory, as discussed in a recent book by Stanley Rosenberg, Accessing the Healing Power of the Vagus Nerve.

Porges's work on the two branches of the vagus nerve, and the states of consciousness they are involved in, has important implications for physical and mental health. But the connections may go even further than that, into areas considered spiritual or even paranormal. The states facilitated by ventral vagus nerve activation have a lot in common with the conditions most conducive to eliciting psi, both in the lab and in everyday life. And together they may explain certain features of contemplative states and practices.

5 Ways 'The New Normal' is Getting Worse and Worse

mask wearing people
It's been a big few days for the New Normal narrative and, through the deliberately cultivated haze of confusion, it's not hard to see the world they want to build is taking shape.

1. Australia's Curfew

The state of Victoria, and the city of Melbourne, have declared a "state of disaster" and instituted a lockdown and curfew. The state's 6.3 million inhabitants, nearly 5 million in the city, have to follow these restrictions:
  • Workplaces and shops that are not deemed essential will close or reduce their hours from Wednesday midnight but services such as supermarkets, petrol stations and doctors will remain open.
  • "Permitted" or essential workers will have to carry a special permit to work outside the home.
  • There is a nightly curfew in force: between the hours of 8pm and 5am you cannot leave home except for work or to get or provide urgent care.
  • You must stay within five kilometres of your home to shop or exercise.
  • If you leave the house to exercise, it should be for only one hour each day.
  • While up to two people can still exercise together, people should shop on their own - groups in public, even from the same household, are no longer allowed.
  • Schools will shift to remote learning except for vulnerable students and children of permitted workers.
  • Childcare centres will close to all but vulnerable children and those of essential workers.
  • Funerals can continue with a maximum of 10 people but weddings are off except for rare, compassionate reasons.
Since March, Australia has had 247 Covid19 deaths, across the entire country. The median age of these deaths is over 80.
