Three Things Most People Don't Know About Physician-assisted Death

The cadence is increasing of jurisdictions introducing, normalizing and expanding laws allowing doctors to help people commit suicide.

Is this purely in the service of relieving unbearable physical or mental suffering? Or do other factors predominate?

I used to believe the former, but my recent re-examination of the issue suggests the latter is more likely.

MindMatters: Do Not Watch, Comrade! 'The Lives of Others' Is Thought Crime

lives of others
Soon after World War II, Germany was cleaved in two by the allies who won the war. 'West Germany' came under the influence of Western Europe and the US, and East Germany under the Soviet Union. The eastern section of Germany, under the political and ideological influence of Communism, came to develop one of the most notoriously oppressive secret police organizations in modern history: the Stasi.

On this week's show, we discuss Florian Henckel Von Donnersmarck's moving and expertly directed 2006 German film 'The Lives of Others' (spoiler warning!). The movie's depiction of life under Stasi control, the power dynamics at play in the Communist nation, and the lives it destroyed, among other things, all contribute to make the 'The Lives of Others' an instructive work from which to understand the destructive power of totalitarianism on a very personal level. However, the film also offers a light of hope in the face of immense bleakness.

Join us as we discuss the film, its overall plot and themes, expert characterization, historical accuracy (or lack thereof), and why it deserves a watch - or two! Just make sure the Stasi don't find out. They don't arrest people on a whim, after all.

SOTT Earth Changes Summary - March 2021: Extreme Weather, Planetary Upheaval, Meteor Fireballs

secsmar21
Sudden drops in temperature, heavy Spring snow, and erratic weather continued to hit the northern hemisphere well into March, while the southern hemisphere suffered from heavy rain, floods, and landslides, disrupting the lives of millions and affecting crops on a massive scale.

As temperatures continue to drop and sea ice continues to grow exponentially at both poles, Antarctica set its coldest March temperature on record: -75.3°C (-103.5°F).

But things are also "heating up", a dramatic increase in both the number of active volcanoes and recorded eruptions has been reported during March, not very good news for an already super-cold upper atmosphere.

From historic bush fires to 'once-in-a-century floods, Australia suffered one of its worst downpours after weather systems converged over Queensland and New South Wales, dumping more than 20 inches of rain in one day north of Brisbane, and nearly 40 inches in a week in New South Wales. Tens of thousands were displaced.

And talking about extreme weather, Taiwan experienced the worst drought in half a century after being hit by record floods during the pasts months.

Sudden downpours also wreaked havoc in parts of Latin America affecting thousands of families. In western Colombia, 60% of normal March rain fell in just 90 minutes, while a month's worth of rain fell in 2 hours in Grande Do Sul, Brazil.

As another example of things charging up in the Earth's upper atmosphere, the first 'space hurricane' with a 1,000 km-wide swirling mass of plasma was revealed by a team led by Shandong University in China, after an analysis of satellite data from August 2014. Formed hundreds of kilometers above the North Pole, these 'hurricanes' in many ways resemble the hurricanes formed in the Earth's lower atmosphere, but in this case, it causes a rain of electrons instead of water. Scientists assume that it must be created by an unusually large and rapid transfer of solar wind energy and charged particles (from different sources out in space) into the Earth's upper atmosphere.

Keep your eyes on the sky folks, as meteor fireballs are delivering an increasingly stunning and alarming show in recent years.

State of Fear: How UK Govt. 'Used Covert Tactics' to Unnecessarily Terrify Public

Boris Johnson, along with scientific advisers Chris Whitty and Sir Patrick Vallance, have been accused of 'weaponising fear'

Boris Johnson, along with scientific advisers Chris Whitty and Sir Patrick Vallance, have been accused of 'weaponising fear'
Government's 'psychological strategies' to manipulate unwitting public's behaviour may backfire and lead to long-term damage, experts claim.
Failures in the UK's pandemic response are not hard to identify, but on one front the Government's success is undeniable: persuading a fearful nation to stay locked indoors for much of the past year.

The daily diet of statistics on deaths, hospitalisations and Covid cases has been so effective that compliance with lockdown has gone far beyond what ministers expected.

But the problem with fear, as one behavioural scientist said on Friday, is that "you can't turn it on and off like a tap".

As the country prepares for the complete end of lockdown in June, there are far-reaching questions about how many people will return to the workplace, or to normality, and the consequences of that for the economy and for physical and mental health.

Whether frightening the public was a deliberate - or honest - tactic has become the subject of intense debate, and dozens of psychologists have now accused ministers of using "covert psychological strategies" to manipulate the public's behaviour.

MindMatters: Campy Covers, Deep Psychology: Discover a Most Surprising Oasis of Virtue and Values

romance indiana jones
At this time of sweeping societal change, ideological propaganda is bombarding western culture everywhere one looks. No tradition or institution is spared, particularly when it comes to our value systems and the most basic ideas of what it means to be human: family, relationships, sex. The cult of wokeness must be adhered to, or else. Refuse to comply and you risk being labeled, demonized, cancelled. But the onslaught of pseudo-reality has one survivor, hidden in plain sight for all this time: the regency romance novel.

Rakes and hoydens, scandals and scoundrels. Sometimes virtue can be found in the most unlikely places. So this week on MindMatters, discover a genre that, to our delight and surprise, is a rich source of not only entertainment, insight and knowledge, but most importantly, also a wellspring of traditional values that has the power to counteract the mind-virus - and potentially help us to grow.

Objective:Health - Resistance Against Medical Tyranny

O:H header
In this episode of Objective:Health we highlight some of the resistance we've seen to the medical tyranny that has descended on us under the guise of a deadly pandemic. Whether in the form of lawsuits, class action suits, standing up to employers mandating vaccination for their employees, or just everyday citizens resisting mask mandates or quarantine measures, it's heartening to see individuals fighting back, standing their ground and generally resisting the infringement of their rights by an out-of-control authoritarian state.

While governments, corporations or employers in general may believe they have the right to dictate our right to free movement, forced medical procedures, right to employment or rights to free association, there are citizens who have had enough and are fighting back against the monolithic machine attempting to lock us in our homes to die a slow death.

As Benjamin Franklin said "Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." And while there are those attempting to force that choice on us, the ability to resist has yet to be completely extinguished. Join us on this episode as we look at some of the inspiring stories of ordinary people fighting back.

The Emerging Totalitarian Dystopia: Interview With Professor Mattias Desmet

Few phenomena have had a profound impact on a global level as quickly as the current corona outbreak. In no time, human life has been completely reorganised. I asked Mattias Desmet, Psychotherapist and Professor of Clinical Psychology at Ghent University, how this is possible, what the consequences are, and what we can expect in the future.
covid police lockdown

"A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power."― Philip K. Dick, The Man in the High Castle
Almost a year after the start of the corona crisis, how is the mental health of the population?

MD: For the time being, there are few figures that show the evolution of possible indicators such as the intake of antidepressants and anxiolytics or the number of suicides. But it is especially important to place mental well-being in the corona crisis in its historical continuity. Mental health had been declining for decades. There has long been a steady increase in the number of depression and anxiety problems and the number of suicides. And in recent years there has been an enormous growth in absenteeism due to psychological suffering and burnouts. The year before the corona outbreak, you could feel this malaise growing exponentially. This gave the impression that society was heading for a tipping point where a psychological 'reorganization' of the social system was imperative. This is happening with corona. Initially, we noticed people with little knowledge of the virus conjure up terrible fears, and a real social panic reaction became manifested. This happens especially if there is already a strong latent fear in a person or population.

Objective:Health: ‌Ivermectin: The Suppressed Miracle Drug for Covid-19

O:H header
As if it were a replay of the fiasco that went on with hydroxychloroquine, the establishment media, social media and governments have been collectively censoring information about a drug shown to be highly effective against Covid-19: Ivermectin.

The studies on the drug are nothing short of astounding - more effective than any drug or intervention previously studied. Yet YouTube felt justified in banning videos of congress testimony about the drug, Twitter has blocked links to a peer-reviewed medical journal that had the audacity to publish a study on the drug and the corporate media have been full of articles about the 'dangers' of this drug - despite the fact that it's been approved by the FDA (unlike Covid vaccines) and has been used safely for the last 5 decades.

Join us on this episode of Objective:Health where we give you the low-down on a truly amazing drug that 'THEY' don't want you to know about: Ivermectin.

MindMatters: Stalking the Night Stalker: Richard Ramirez, Intraspecies Predator

richard ramirez
In 1985, greater Los Angeles and San Francisco were struck with an ever-growing list of brutal murders, rapes and robberies of dozens of individuals, including children. The crimes shocked and terrified not only the families of the victims and the communities where the crimes took place - but also captured national attention - as the viciousness and malevolence involved in these acts were made public. The range of victims, and multiple MOs, stumped investigators and suggested that the serial killer involved was capable of almost anything.

This week on MindMatters we discuss the chilling story of Richard Ramirez AKA 'The Night Stalker,' as told in a new documentary on Netflix titled Night Stalker: The Hunt For a Serial Killer. Was Ramirez 'born' or 'made' into the the monster he became, what influenced him psychologically, and what about his very biology may have helped shape him into the serial killer he became? We also look at the effects Ramirez's acts had on the families of the victims, the investigators involved in tracking him down, and the 'larger than life' strangeness that permeates the entire story. Though stories like the Ramirez's are rare, this tale is an awful reminder that individuals like him do exist, and we'd do well to remember that many of them, unlike Ramirez, appear to be quite normal on the surface. (Also discussed: What The Night Stalker Documentary Leaves Out About Richard Ramirez)
