This week on MindMatters, we discuss Radford's insightful re-telling of the book and what makes it utterly worth the time and effort to watch. We delve into what makes 1984 even better than we remember it and required viewing for those seeking to understand the societal and political developments unfolding before our eyes. Exceptionally quotable, we also review the many gems of the script and book that distill and deconstruct the thinking and intentions of what a full-blown and truly psychopathic political system looks and sounds like. Few books and films get so close to describing reality as well as 1984 does.

In this week's MindMatters show, we delve into the surrounding context and facts about Holodomor - and how despite his own shady background, Mr. Jones got the story right, unlike his shameless colleague at the New York Times, Walter Duranty. But like much of how history is presented in art, and elsewhere, the omission of crucial information also threatens to turn a story on its head and make it perfect fodder for contemporary propaganda - even decades after the fact. With that in mind we also discuss the implications of mass collectivization, the realities of a Communist political system, and how the film speaks, perhaps unwittingly, to many detrimental developments that we are now witnessing on the world stage. Historical events are often quite complicated, but with a nuanced examination of how history is told, and the real lessons that may be derived from it, we may better see where we are, and where we're going.

After my review of the Pfizer/BioNTech SARS-CoV-2 virus vaccine, I was regularly asked if I would do the same for the Moderna vaccine. I will do that in this blog.
Regarding a discussion of the study into the efficacy and safety of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, I refer you to one of my previous blogs:
https://www.janbhommel.com/post/het-pfizer-biontech-vaccin-tegen-het-sars-cov-2-virus
Comment: See here for the English translation of his blog on the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine: What Pfizer/BioNTech isn't telling us about the new mRNA COVID-19 vaccine
The study into efficacy and safety of the Moderna vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 virus was published on December 30 in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) (1). This study shows great similarities to the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine efficacy and safety study, however there are some differences. Overall, the Moderna study makes a better impression than the Pfizer/BioNTech study, as I will discuss below.

He's one of the modelling-paper mafiosi.
The London, U.K., professor is a key government advisor via his membership in powerful committees and organizations. Edmunds also was a co-author of one of the primary modelling papers that have been used to convince the masses that vigilance against Variant of Concern (VOC) B.1.1.7 should be their top priority.
Edmunds co-wrote an influential January 21, 2021 report that concluded, "There is a realistic possibility that VOC B.1.1.7 is associated with an increased risk of death compared to non-VOC viruses."
In addition, Edmunds speaks often to reporters about the deadliness of the new variant. He tells them a "disaster" would happen if lockdowns are eased soon, because what first must be done is to "vaccinate much, much, much more widely than the elderly."
Follow the Funds
Edmunds also happens to be the spouse of someone who, at least until April 2020, was an employee of GlaxoSmithKline and held shares in the company. (Although Edmunds doesn't disclose this in any of his media interviews that I've read and watched.)
To be clear, I'm no Covid denier. I understand that I can catch this nasty disease and that it might do me in. But the same is true for the ordinary flu. And so too might I be done in by riding in an automobile. So too might I meet an early death as a result of my habit of drinking each evening a few glasses of wine (and sometimes one too many glasses).
Given my age (although 62, I'm young compared to Covid's chief victims), my relatively good health (I daily go to the gym), and my slimness (I'm six feet tall and weigh 150lbs), I see no reason for me to worry about me catching Covid. I simply, truly have no special fear of this disease. I shake hands with people willing to shake. I hug friends and family members willing to hug. I dine indoors at restaurants without a second thought and remove my mask the moment I'm seated. And I would go about my business without a mask altogether were I not required to wear one in order to enter stores and restaurants.
My incessant wondering about Covid is instead about what other people think, or refuse to think, about Covid - the other people being those who, after reading the previous paragraph, will accuse me of being either appallingly selfish or inexcusably unaware that the coronavirus spreads through humans coming into close physical proximity to each other.
But the thing is, having a less than stellar psychological framework has a direct effect on our physical health. The central nervous system is directly connected to the immune system, providing a suspected pathway to exist between thoughts and emotions directly affecting the robusticity of our immune response. In other words, negative thoughts and feelings can actually make us sick.
There's also the concept of the "nocebo effect," sometimes referred to as the evil twin of the placebo effect, which has been talked about in the literature since the 1960s'. It's the well documented phenomenon where someone's negative expectations can lead them to manifest negative symptoms, even if they're not exposed to the treatment (or the virus). You might be sick if you feel sick, but then again, it might be your head playing games with your body.
Join us on this episode of Objective:Health as we look into the psychological consequences of the covid "pandemic" - how the constant fear and disconnection is affecting our collective mental (and therefore physical) health.
Comment: YouTube has been cracking down on any Covid dissent, although they seem to be selective in what they censor as previous shows have had what could be termed as 'more critical' content. As it is our 2nd strike on the channel, our days on YouTube are likely to be numbered so please be sure to follow us on lbry.tv or Brighteon!

Comment: The following article was published two months ago in response to claims circulating on alternative and independent media sites that 'SARS-CoV-2 does not exist because it has never been isolated'. This claim is false, and as Jeremy Hammond explains in this article, it is harming, not helping, valid criticism of governments' authoritarian responses to the Covid-19 pandemic...
False claims fueling the widespread delusion that SARS-CoV-2 doesn't exist are harming efforts to combat the authoritarian responses to COVID-19.
For months, I have been continually confronted with the belief held by many within my own community of readers that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, has not even been proven to exist.
I would much prefer to spend my time fact-checking the self-proclaimed "fact checkers" that are censoring factual information while hypocritically misinforming the public. But there's one claim in particular that I've been faced with repeatedly that really needs to be put to rest because it is serving only to legitimize the "fact checker" narrative that opponents of authoritarian "lockdown" measures are spreading misinformation.
The specific claim is that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has admitted that SARS-CoV-2 has not been isolated — in other words, that it has not been proven to exist.
The "smoking gun" document in which the CDC ostensibly admitted that the virus hasn't been isolated is titled "CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel". It is published on the website of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Comment: For more details (and images) of the large array of 'isolation' methods that show - clearly - that SARS-CoV-2 is indeed an actual virus (along with all its mutated variants), see here:
Sigh, yes, the 'COVID virus' is real
The most impactful winter snowstorm in the US so far caused a rapid decrease in temperature and dumped snow from the Midwest to the Northeast, affecting hundreds of millions. More than half the US was covered in snow and some cities received up to 19 inches. The US is seeing winter storm after winter storm with no relief.
Iowa got hit by a new record snowfall this month with 19 inches dumped in Des Moines, the snowiest January for the last 130 years. Extreme snowfall also buried Texas and the Mississippi Valley, leaving 150,000 people in the dark.
15 inches of rain, floods, up to 100 inches of snow, mudslides, a massive landslide, and wildfires hit California. Again, extreme weather is disrupting the lives of millions of Californians contributing to a 'mass exodus' from the state.
Europe and Asia also experienced one of their most intense winters in recent years, with temperatures in some areas dropping as low as -46.2 degrees Celsius.
Storm Filomena hit Spain this month, producing the coldest night for at least 20 years when the temperature plunged to -25C in Molina de Aragón, and Teruel, and a record snowfall since 1971 killed half a million trees in Madrid. All this was accompanied by a supercell storm with winds of 150 km/h in Lleida, flash floods in the south, and a M4.4 earthquake in Granada. Two meteor fireballs were also recorded over Galicia and Granada.
Siberia again broke the global cold temperature record this month, with -58°C at one locality, meanwhile, Mongolia faced one of the most extreme winters on record with temperatures as low as -50 C.
South Korea got hit by the season's harshest weather as a cold wave with heavy snow and strong winds brought traffic to a stop and grounded planes. The temperature in Seoul dropped to -16.1 C, with a wind chill of -25.3 C.
Many meteor fireballs were witnessed or recorded during the day this month, while a small meteorite fell on a house in Indonesia. A sign of increased cometary activity?
Heavy rains and floods continued to hit east and southeast Asia, with millions affected. The worst flood in half a century hit Malaysia prompting the evacuation of 50,000 people, while Chennai, India recorded the highest rainfall for a January day since 1915.
