Roswell incident recalled by local vet who was there 60 years ago

Something happened in Roswell, New Mexico, 60 years ago this summer.

In June or early July 1947, a farmer found strange debris while working on a ranch about 70 miles north of Roswell. He put some of it in a box and drove to the local sheriff. Neither man knew what to make of it, so the sheriff called Roswell Army Air Field, which sent two men to investigate.

UK: Orange, red and green 'UFO' light show riddle

South Devon, UK - Ufo fever has again gripped the Bay with a string of witnesses recounting seeing a display of mystery lights over Paignton last weekend. But the source of the last puzzling night-time show witnessed earlier this month has insisted: "It wasn't us this time."

Ian Davies, manager of the Osborne Hotel in Torquay, revealed wish lanterns released by a wedding party at the hotel's Brasserie were probably responsible for the great illusion.

But the '100 or so' orange/red/green lights floating over parts of Paignton from the Dartmouth direction over the weekend were nothing to do with him or his staff.

"I've checked - and it wasn't us," said Ian, who said the wedding guests who launched about a dozen wish lanterns at the beginning of the month had not obtained permission from staff to do so.

My partner and I were driving from plymouth back to paignton early hours sunday morning (1am) as we approached paignton on the totnes road we witnessed these lights as described in your article at least 100 tried to film on mobile have a little bit but not clear and like your other readers we also felt it was an invasion of some kind - but we did not find them frightning, they were so silent in a convoy form - mysitical went upwards into space and dissapeared in the same area following each other my partner then called the local radio (gemini fm) to report and ask if anyone else had seen them but he was laughed off as a crack pot so it has been a relief to us to read your article on these lights - on further investigation on the internet we have found a site UFO balloons which look very simular but are not totally convinced that this is what we saw until we have seen one of these balloons in action we are interested to hear what others feel about this.

On Saturday night (September 15), the lights returned.

Search for wild man becomes wild goose chase

An expedition to find evidence of the mysterious wild man, Yeren, who some believe lives in the Shennongjia forests of Central China has ended in disappointment.

But a leading researcher said yesterday he is not downhearted and welcomes people and institutions from around the world to join in the search for the elusive creature.

"I cannot tell you where it is. But we are getting to the truth step by step," Wang Fangcheng, who is in charge of research into the Bigfoot-like creature at the Beijing Ecological Engineering Institution, said.

Last week, the institution organized an expedition to Shennongjia, a virgin forest in Hubei Province, to look for the mysterious wild man.

A team of scientists spent two days exploring the western part of the forest and spoke to local people who claim to have seen a large, hairy upright creature in the area.

UFO seen over British Columbia Town

Are we alone in the universe?

One Sidney resident always thought he'd wait until the aliens landed before he'd believe in little green men. The man, who routinely pops out to his suburban back yard for an evening cigarette and studies the night sky, was surprised when he saw an unidentified flying object recently. The UFO was a bright orange orb, which he later described as a jellyfish shape. He briefly wrote the unusual sight off as lights on a plane.

He quickly changed his mind.

It was too bright, too orange, and it cruised silently southward over the Sidney sky.

"I would expect a lot of people would have seen it if they looked skyward. It was very conspicuous," he told the Peninsula News Review. "If it was a prank, it was a really good prank."

Burst pipes, dead trees, power cuts and headaches: a mystery malaise in Cyprus suburbia

Pipes bursting, toilets collapsing, random power cuts and headaches: paranormal phenomena, or is there a perfectly plausible scientific explanation?

For five years, the tenants of a semi-detached house in Strovolos, Nicosia, were experiencing all the above weird happenings.

The family living there must have changed their toilet seat and plumbing 40 times. The pipes would crack open, flooding the floor. Even a 100-year-old olive tree outside the house wilted and died.

Then one day, out of the blue, the episodes stopped.
