Flashback Former Governor Symington: I saw a UFO in the Arizona sky (video)

Former Arizona Governor Fife Symington will be moderating a November 12 event at the National Press Club where he will discuss the Phoenix Lights incident. He says he will be joined by 14 former high-ranking military and government officials from seven countries who will share evidence from what they call their own UFO experiences and investigations.

Fife Symington says he nearly had a close encounter while governor of Arizona.

Comment: CNN cover of the story.

It may seem encouraging that a public figure chooses to give his testimony and share his view with the public. But notice that at first Symington ridiculed the event, and even made a show in the city hall with his aid wearing an alien costume just to demonstrate his attitude toward the issue. A question arises how come he suddenly comes out and tells that he knew it was something otherworldly? We are given the usual and convenient excuse that Symington wanted to avoid public panic. But is it possible that he was given permission, or told to open the issue? And if it is so, for what purpose?

US: Air Force officials re-evaluate past UFO sightings

Pictures of frightened gasps and wide eyes as a giant gray disc hovers over the city usually make the front page of a grocery store tabloid.

With recent reports from Yahoo News and CNN, unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, once more have caught the attention of government officials. In November, the National Press Club had a news conference in Washington D.C., led by former Arizona Governor Fife Symington, members of the Air Force and government members from seven different countries.

According to a Nov. 1 news release, the leaders of the conference once more aimed to persuade the government to take an interest in the latest accounts from on-duty Air Force pilots and to reopen investigation, paying special attention to cases relating to national security. The outcome of the conference has not produced searchable results and ultimately might result in a continuation of ongoing curiosity and enthusiast debate.

Victoria, Texas, US: Friends swear they saw a UFO

A flashing light turned two Victoria teens' laid-back weekend upside-down.

As Christopher Valdez and Conrado Castillo sat in the bed of a red pick-up Saturday on Upper Mission Valley Road, near The Windmill convenience store, they saw a bright light that they think was a UFO.

It was midnight or 1 a.m., Castillo said, as the duo sat in the cool night air, gazing at the sky. They'd been there for about 45 minutes, he said, waiting for his mother to drop off money for a late-night fast-food run.

"We were just talking about life and stuff and we looked up into the sky," said Castillo, a 13-year-old Crain Middle School student. "(Christopher) goes, 'Look!' and there was a bluish-white light in the sky."

UK: UFO mystery deepens as sightings increase

Further reports of UFO activity in the skies above the region have been flooding in.

Harry Hughes' sighting of five orange orbs in the sky above his house in Mynydd Isa on Christmas Day has prompted numerous reports from other residents of similar sightings across Flintshire, Wrexham and Chester.

David Clark, of Elwy Close, Bryn y Baal, agreed with Mr Hughes' description of the strange objects.

He said: "It is absolutely true what he says. There were three very bright lights which suddenly separated and one looked like it shot straight up at high speed.

"At first we thought they were balloons or planes but they were going too fast and they didn't look like planes.

Flashback California, US: Strange lights seen in night sky

San Diego - Residents in Oceanside and Point Loma called to ask about mysterious lights that appeared in the sky at sunset Saturday. Both men reported two parallel orange lights that appeared for three or four minutes. One said the lights moved from north to west, then went straight up and disappeared.

San Diego police weren't aware of the incident. Neither were spokesmen for the Navy Region Southwest office, the Coast Guard or Harbor Police. The Federal Aviation Administration referred a call to the National UFO Reporting Center in Washington state.

San Diego - It was New Year's Eve, after all, and people may be in altered states where they see lots of strange things.

But three groups of San Diegans swear they were sober enough to report seeing strange orange-yellow lights in the sky about 30 minutes after midnight. And the National UFO Reporting Center said Tuesday it got enough "similar reports from across the country" to warrant a follow-up investigation.
