US: Fast, bright UFO overtakes International Space Station

A bright and fast object seemingly "overtook" the International Space Station May 29, according to several witnesses observing from two different states, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness database.

The first case was reported from Texas, where a man and two other witnesses were out watching the International Space Station fly over, and then observed this second object - moving at between two and-a-half and three times the speed of the space station.

A second group is reporting in from the RMCC Observatory, Mounds, Oklahoma, who say they saw the same event.

I include a third report from another Texas witness because the date is the same and it may be related.

The following reports and their headlines are unedited.

Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If Texas or Oklahoma MUFON investigates and reports back on this case, I will update this page.

US: Color-changing orb over Oregon ejects triangle UFO

A Oregon witness watched an unusual orb in the sky as it changed colors in a pulsing manner, and then observed a triangle-shaped UFO emerge from inside of it, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness database.

The May 29 event occurred near an airport, and the witness wants to point out that the shape and behavior of both objects is out of the ordinary. The triangle UFO had three amber-colored lights at each of its points. White lights seem to be the norm for this type of craft, but we have seen the amber lights reported in other cases.

The triangle craft eventually moved away at a high rate of speed, and the pulsing orb either moved away, or shrunk in size - the witness is not sure - as it just seemed to get smaller and smaller with each pulse of light.

A remarkable photographic image was snapped on the morning of June 13, 2006, in a backyard in the Midwestern state of Nebraska.

Omaha television station KETV-7 broadcast the picture on June 14, and it appeared to be an animal unlike any most people have seen locally.In the short dispatch, the Nebraska news staff reported that:
Mary Ann Carta lives near 138th and Hamilton streets, and she took some pictures of the animal that she saw. She said it could be a bobcat, but it has her scared about taking her morning walk or allowing her grandchildren to play outside.

"I was not afraid at the moment. I was in the house, but I was just thinking about yesterday with the grandkids it was like, what would I have done," Carta said.

An expert at the Henry Doorly Zoo is examining the pictures. He thinks it could be a feral cat.

US: Area has history of strange sightings

Living next to a super-secret federal facility involved in cutting-edge government research means one thing - aliens!

Well, UFOs at least.

Though the Savannah River Site has never been said to be a Southeastern, or more humid, version of Area 51, Aiken County, South Carolina and the CSRA has been a hotbed of UFO sightings for as long as the bomb plant has been around.

More than 50 years ago, The Aiken Standard and Review had reports of fighter jets being scrambled to investigate and see-off "flying saucers." But rumors of unidentified flying objects persist in the area, including a documented account earlier this year.

Air Force Intelligence reports from the same year, 1952, although at different times, show two more officially recorded sightings of flying objects that cannot be identified.

US: Avon Colorado - Two Girls See Flying Disk & Report Sighting to Air Force Veteran

Time of Sighting: 8 PM MDT

Description: On May 7 around 8 PM two boys in Avon saw a flying disk with a flashing strobe and told an Air Force veteran I know, and he passed it on to me. The disk moved horizontally, then up vertically and then horizontally as it shot off. I am going to try to meet with the boys at some later date.

Update - May 13, 2009: I called the Air Force veteran who talked with the kids who saw the disc in Avon. He said it was two girls, and not boys. He is going to try to set up a time I could meet with them and their parents so I can get more information.

US: Bradenton, Florida - Couple See Long Thin Object With Series of Lights in Sky

Time of Sighting: 11:25 PM (On May 21) and 11:45 AM on May 23
Location of Sighting: Bradenton, Florida (Along W. Coast of Southern Florida)

Description: Our home, in Manatee County, Florida, is about 1 mile north-northwest of the Sarasota-Bradenton Airport (SRQ). Six blocks to the west is the approach to runway 34 at SRQ. Six blocks south-southwest of our home is the 700 foot mark, according to a commercial pilot friend. In 16 years at this address, only recently had we noticed meteors low in the southern sky. It was due to our fascination with these meteors that we spotted something different on Thursday night, the 21th of May, 2009. The meteors seemed to fall very steeply from east to west, with a yellow-orange glow. This object had a very white series of lights, giving the appearance of a long thin object. This object dropped rapidly from very high altitude, at about a 70 degree angle, from our south-southwest and slowed to turn horizontally, moving southeast just above our horizon. Then it increased speed rapidly down range until out of sight below the horizon.

Mysterious lights over High Town

A couple of Luton stargazers were left mystified when they spotted a series of bizarre bright lights hovering over the town.

John Kane and his partner Dora were in the garden of their High Town home shortly before 1am on Sunday, May 24, when they saw six or seven bright objects hovering in a circular motion with each one looking "as if it was rotating around itself".

The couple say that they were relatively large, very bright, and an "orangey" colour, and that the space in between them was equally distanced.

US: UFO mystery centers around Iowa pond

Iowa is not the first state that comes to mind when thinking of UFO traffic. In fact, it's not even in the top 40 - but there's a UFO mystery in a small Iowa pond that locals are attempting to solve.

Pond owners Denny and Terry Straube, from Marion County, say something fell from the sky this past January - making a two-foot-wide hole in their pond and throwing water out into the surrounding area.

But looking back into the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database, I was amazed to see that there have been 41 cases from Iowa logged in between just January 1, 2008, and May 30, 2009. That's 41 cases in 17 months or 2.4 cases per month.

Compared to other states, the Iowa reports are low. Just this year, from January 1, 2009, to May 30, 2009, there have only been seven UFO reports coming out of Iowa - and one of those was a "joke" report where someone reported the Starship Enterprise hovering in the sky.

Belarus: UFO reported by villagers

At least two residents of the small town of Nevel in Belarus, near the state's border with the Ukraine have reported seeing a strange light move across the skies above their homes. The light was described as luminous blue in colour and appeared to be traveling at a height of about fifty to one hundred metres above the ground at a speed of around 70 kilometres an hour.

One couple reported seeing the light on their way home at night. The event occurred on Tuesday 26 May at around 10pm.

'I was walking through a small field and looked up and saw this odd blue light fly over me, I do not know what it could be but it definitely wasn't normal' commented Sergey, 29 one of the two witnesses.

Description: While enjoying a dip in my spa with my family we were observing the beauty of the night sky. My oldest daughter pointed out what she thought was a star. All 4 of us focused our attention on the object. We watched it as it traveled in a N. to NE. path, no noise or chem trail was noticed. It flew at a steady and consistent speed. The light coming from it was white and steady. From the rear of it the light seemed to be a very faint orange/red in color. It just seemed to disappear after approx. 2 minutes.
