Damage Control? Secrets behind 'alien craft' revealed

Astronauts offer explanation for videos, obtained during NASA's 1996 missions in low Earth orbit, which show zooming beams of light and metamorphosing objects in the space -- what some deem to be moving alien craft.

The pictures have conjured up the accusations by the UFO fans that the agency has been hiding encounters with alien life for decades.

The allegations raised in pitch as the recently-posted footages showed, what appeared to be, an 'alien craft' shifting its shape while on the move and lights that apparently changed direction.

Astronauts, however, have dismissed the claims as interpretations by people who had seen 'unexplained things', FOXNews reported on Wednesday.

British Navy comes close to fire at UFO's

A British Navy warship may have come within seconds of opening fire on Unidentified Flying Objects above Merseyside, possibly narrowly avoiding the precipitation of an interstellar war and the extirpation of humanity by testy aliens.

Reports have it that the UFOs - speculated to have been visiting spacecraft from beyond the solar system - were tracked on naval weapons radars.

The revelation comes from the Telegraph, reporting on last week's sightings of "orange, ball-shaped" UFOs cruising above scouse beauty-spots between South Liverpool and Southport. The orange, blob-like flying balls - said by some witnesses to have "dropped fire" at times - were assessed by some to be floating Chinese lanterns, but this theory was widely disparaged among headline-writers in favour of the more crowd-pleasing interstellar visitors hypothesis. Also, Chinese lanterns don't move 3,000 miles/hr.

Did they come from outer space, or Bognor Regis?

Mystery still surrounds the appearance of bright lights over Hinckley in March - and a member of Leicestershire's UFO Society says they still have no idea what caused the unusual phenomenon.

The Hinckley Times was deluged with calls after car alarms started going off when the orbs appeared above Morrisons supermarket, on Normandy Way.

Since then researchers have done their best to explain what spooked shoppers - but they've drawn a blank.

Now Graham Hall, from Hinckley, and the Leicestershire society, wants anyone who witnessed any unusual occurrence to tell him about it.

Asked if he thought little green men were stalking the town, he said: "No, not at all.

US: Port Angeles, Washington - Family Sees 5 Silver Orbs in Early Evening Sky

Time of Sighting: 6 PM PDT

Description: My family saw five silver orbs. We were at a family birthday party and everyone had left except my niece, great niece, her husband, their two toddlers and myself. So four adults witnessed this. My niece's husband saw it first. He and my great-niece were staring up at the sky and we saw them and jokingly asked if they were watching a UFO. They said they didn't know, but that it wasn't normal. He said they came in a straight line, fast from the west. My niece and I went over to where they were standing in the yard and saw 4 silver orbs not very high in the sky. The fifth one hadn't shown up yet. They moved into different positions and were too small to be any type of aircraft. We debated on if they might be weather balloons, but the movements didn't make sense compared to what a balloon type object would do. Two went further east less than a half mile away and stayed about equal distance from each other. The other two went straight up, much higher. (My nephew said he felt they were at least 10 miles up.) However, they were still visible and stayed approximately equal distance from each other too. Sometimes they would get closer together or one would drop lower or move farther away and then come back.

Description: I saw this UFO on the California-Arizona border near a town called Felicity, California. I was taking photos of the mountains and got a UFO in the Sky. This is REAL not fake. It's in my camera on the Sandisk. Thanks. When you blow it up you can clearly see its REAL. I thought folks were crazy, but here is a REAL UFO.

Witness Statement: For the past year I have been witnessing these strange orange lights in the sky and when talking about them to people they get all ignorant and try to blame alcohol or say you're on drugs. I know what I've seen and it is no chinese lantern. I've seen them a lot recently in Nottingham and the closest I have seen one is at a low altitude as an helicopter would be and what I seen was a bright orange glowing light and like a force field.

Witness Statement: We sleep with our bed under the window, which is great for someone like me with insomnia!

The first night I saw what I though was a satellite whiz really quickly across the sky, but I didn't really pay attention as it was around 3am in the morning.

A few nights later I remembered and told my partner, so we sat at the window in complete darkness and watched and saw 2 bright orange shooting stars and and a lot of what we presumed were satellites whizzing through the sky, approximately 5 of them, but going way to fast to be planes, and with no sound.

The next night my partner was asleep and I was suffering from insomnia again, so I lay on my back staring at the stars, then it dawned on me that some of what I thought were stars were 'moving' they would be doing circles, then dart in one direction and stop dead, then dart in another direction!

Witness Statement: Husband and I were sitting on the patio, too hot indoors, watching planes' lights jetting off in various directions, when an orange glow/arc appeared coming from East to West direction towards us. Watched it pass over our roof not high, maybe a couple of thousand feet, no noise, constant speed, followed by a second on identical route, then a third and fourth, all equal distance apart, all in a line. Considered chinese lanterns but dismissed idea as these were obviously powered.

In my farm in Tambaú city (rural zone of São Paulo - Brazil) I took a pic of the beautiful landscape. One week later I noticed a UFO when I was showing the pictures to my friend. I will send 2 pictures, one of the UFO and another one that I took 1 minute before.

(Editor's Note: The first photograph, alluded to above, does not show any anomalies.)

Pay attention to the color of the ground, the UFO picture has a purple light, stronger in the ground under the UFO, fading as it spreads.

Last night I saw a UFO! Thursday, May 28, 2009, around 2 AM. I'm a highway worker on the 11-7 shift and our crew was working on the north side of Pittsburgh, PA, on Highway 65, when I saw an object in the sky with lights, white, red, and blue.

The front white lights were bright as if they were headlights, the other white lights flashed as did the color lights. I would have passed this off to be an ordinary object in the sky, like a plane or helicopter, but as it got closer it was quite large and weird shaped.

Too big to be a helicopter I thought, plus I would have heard the propellers and there were lights flashing on the one side of the UFO that was facing me and helicopters don't have lights on the side I thought.

It was going too slow to be a plane, and the shape was not like a plane. Plus at times it had lights in the rear which made it look like it was flying backwards, not like a plane.
