The truth is out there - on page 1,520 of the Argos catalogue to be exact.

The mystery of the cylindrical UFO spotted hovering in the skies above the Black Country was today solved, revealed as a £6.49 children's balloon.

The picture in Monday's Express & Star created a huge amount of debate among UFO watchers and the story on our website attracted more than 10,000 hits worldwide. The suspected UFO, spotted in Walsall by reader Mike Tunnicliffe, looked like a giant sausage and had people looking skywards.

But the answer to the mystery is close to home - any Argos store in fact, where the National Geographic solar balloon is currently being offered.

US: Another Large Gray Triangular Object Spotted in Night Sky

Posted: June 30, 2009

Date of Sighting: June 23, 2009
Time of Sighting: 11 PM CDT
Location of Sighting: Dallas, Texas

Description: Listen to Interview With Witness's Sister (MP3)
The witness's sister called and reported the sighting after having an extensive discussion with the witness after the event. The witness's sister has a responsible position as a magazine writer and is too preoccupied with "deadlines" to file a formal report. Also the witness has been ridiculed by associates which makes her more reluctant to file a report for fear of additional criticism. The witness apparently was driving on the night of the sighting with two other passengers in her car. She noticed a hovering dark gray triangular object with red, white, and blue lights that would blink on and off. No sound was heard. She saw the object for about 12 minutes. The other passengers were not convinced that the object was unusual.

Date of Sighting: 23rd May 2009

It was hovering silently to begin with, then it started to move slowly. After a while it got a bit faster and disappeared into thin air. I tried to film it on my phone but didn't have much luck. There was no noise or anything. what is this strange light that so many of us have seen?

England: Rushton Spencer , Macclesfield - Flashes in the Sky

Posted: June 30, 2009

Date of Sighting: 23rd June 2009
Time: 11:30pm

Witness Statement: Traveling back from a 'Saturdays' gig at the Apollo in Manchester, myself and my daughter were heading back and as we were near home, we were coming up the rise towards the Rushton Inn. I saw 3, what appeared to be at first, camera flashes. There is a police speed camera, but this is a further 100yds on, and these were way up in the sky and they were circular in shape. They flashed in succession from right to left, high in the sky about (from the car it is difficult to judge) 50yds apart. My daughter didn't see them, but as yet, I can't explain what I saw.

England: Pair spot UFO lights in sky over Cannington

Two women in Cannington are backing claims that the Bridgwater area is a hotspot for UFOs.

After reading last week's report in the Bridgwater Times about unidentified flying objects floating above North Petherton, Doreen Bunch and Alison Howard contacted the newsroom to tell their tale.

Doreen, aged 65, said: "My friend and I were so glad to read the article in the Bridgwater Times about UFOs because the same thing happened to us in April."

Driving along lanes to Cannington from a friend's house in Spaxton on Saturday, April 18, at around 11pm, the pair saw bright lights in formation in the sky.

US: Michigan 'cluster of lights' may be another sphere-triangle UFO

Several recent UFO reports from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database have described what appears to be the same object - a cluster of three spheres that seem to be attached. Reports were filed on these objects near Dallas, TX, April 22, Crockett, TX, April 23, Kansas City, KS, June 16, and from Illinois on June 20.

Comment: These sightings can be read in these two articles.

A Michigan report for June 28 may be related as the witness, driving along the Southfield freeway, states that "I looked up and saw that it was a cluster of lights." The object was described as silent and hovering.

I am also including a California report below from June 26, where the witness describes the object as "orange, glowing appearance, moving in straight line, not too fast but elegantly, made up of circular round looking light sources."

Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If Michigan MUFON reports back on this case, I will update this page.
