Sylvanic Bigfoot: One researcher's efforts to bring Bigfoot in from the cold

For the past 2-3 years I've been hearing about this "Sylvanic Bigfoot" project which is spearheaded by Todd Standing.

Todd Standing is a columnist for Unexplained-Mysteries.com and a Bigfoot researcher. He's made quite a lot of headlines in the Bigfoot community by coming forward with video "proof" of these bipedal, ape-like creatures that he has filmed in recent expeditions. It doesn't just end there, he also claims to know a secret location called "Sylvanic" (According to Todd, this is the name given by the "native" people) said to be a hidden valley nestled deep into the American Rockies.

Todd and his team have released several teaser videos as proof and claim that they are keeping the location secret in order to protect the newly found creatures. Their website sylvanic.com has very limited information as to who the team is and what it is they actually found. Here is a preview of a documentary that they have been working on.

A Radnorshire man has spoken of his shock at seeing a series of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) in the night sky.

Ken Saunders, 75, from St Harmon, described three pairs of large orange orbs travelling at high speed 300 feet above his house.

"It was eerie, that's the only way of describing it," he said; "People obviously think you're mad when you say things like this but I know what I saw and I'm not likely to be telling fibs at my age!"

It was New Year's Eve when the sighting occurred. Mr Saunders recalls how he and his wife had gone to bed early, only for his wife to be woken up close to midnight by the sound of the couple's three cats wailing loudly.

He went to investigate, and noticed the strange lights in the sky. She called to her husband, who didn't come at first. However, as her calls became more urgent, Mr Saunders thought he should go an investigate.

I went outside my house at around 8:30 AM to smoke a cigarette.

I was standing in my front driveway leaning on the back of my car and I leaned my head back to enjoy the morning sky when I saw a silver, circular object going through the sky pretty fast.

I first thought it would have had to be a helicopter based on the shape. I don't know heights that well, but it would've been closer to an airplane's height in the sky than a helicopter.

I looked at it for about 10 seconds, and specifically looked for wings because I was like there is no way I'm seeing a real UFO right now, but I couldn't see wings on it, and I couldn't see the rotors or a tail.

It appeared to be spherical from the angle I was seeing it at. It was a shiny, silver, chrome color. It maintained a straight flight path. I was very surprised by it, and pretty uneasy just for the fact that it was there.

Description: I'm 12 years old. This morning I was at my bus stop and we live near the Hudson river. I saw an object hovering low over the water and it was black, round in shape. In the Summer 2009. my mother and I saw objects in the sky flying at fast speed disappear and then reappear. We have not seen them since. It was not a plane. We know what they look like and how they fly.

A new documentary examines the possibility that the monster might be extinct as its reported appearances become increasingly rare.

Gary Campbell, president of the Official Loch Ness Monster Fan Club, said only one sighting, made just off the Clansman Hotel on 6th June, 2009, was judged by him to have been a credible report.

Witness Statement: As my wife was working & my kids were sleeping i went to the back door for a smoke , the sky was clear & i looked up i seen a red light moving ,at first i thought it was a plane as it was moving just as fast & it was very small high in the sky but i noticed there was no engine noise then thought it might be a glider then thought not as it was dark just then it started zig zaging very fast straight away i know this was no plane or glider the speed it was moving was unbelievable, it did this for about another minute then i lost sight of it in the stars as it seemed quite far away at this point ,for the next couple of minutes i was looking up where i last seen the red light just then there was a small flash in the sky like a shooting star but smaller (don't know if it had anything to do with the light but thought it was weird after what i just witnessed) .

Police on the Isle of Oleron off the coast of France near the city of Bordeaux have confirmed that they are investigating a mass UFO sighting that took place on New year's Eve. The authorities have interviewed at least three independent witnesses and believe that their testimonies are reliable.

The Police officer handling the initial investigation, Lieutenant Bourdajeau, noted that 'The testimonies of witnesses seem highly consistent and we can verify that this was not a hallucination: An egg shape object appeared at around 8pm, it was silent and hovered in one spot before speeding off in a westerly direction. We have informed our superiors of this event'.

One witness, Jean Louis Fesseau, joked that his friends might laugh when they find out he saw a UFO but noted he 'spent thirty five years at sea and know what a flare or a helicopter look like.' '

Supercilious people sometimes describe Ufology as the science of the religion-starved. Unkind doubters even say it's the science of the common sense-starved. But here in China at least, they're in a mean-spirited minority.

Rates of reported UFO sightings across the country show no sign of slowing: An orange V-shaped UFO with a long tail in Nanjing; another resembling a brass bowl hovering in Kunming's blue skies; red sparks shooting out from a mysterious cloud in Beijing, and numerous classic fireballs are just a few examples.

The oft-quoted Zhang Yifang, professor of physics at Yunnan University and Director of the Kunming UFO Research Association, recently claimed aliens are alive and well and living in Yunnan, Heilongjiang and Xinjiang. "The complicated terrain of these places makes them perfect for observation of us earthlings," he says. "But I believe they are nice and they have no intention of attacking us. Perhaps they are shape-shifters camouflaged as human beings or they have manufactured human-like robots to watch us."


Comment: Uhm....we here at Sott strongly disagree! It is fairly troubling at the number of ufologists who tell the people that these visitors from elsewhere are nice, friendly, gentle little aliens and they mean us no harm.

On Monday, January 4 at 1:37 a.m., an unusual object was reported over Rama Caída (Mendoza). While tagged by many as a UFO, the Observatorio Astronómico Instituto Copernico found that it was a slow-moving bolide flying a southwest-northeast trajectory and having a visual magnitude of -8.

Not a UFO, but a lovely image nonetheless.
