Enrique Kolbeck Vergara is an air traffic controller at Mexico City International Airport (MCIA). He performs his duties from the Mexico Air Center and has over 30 years of experience in the field.

He was a skeptic for many years until a single event caused him to change his opinion. And it was precisely an event involving a pilot in 1994, when an unknown object impacted against an Aeromexico liner and damaged the main landing gear - an event that took place of the World Trade Center in southern side of the capital city.

"We assume it was an unidentified flying object, because one hour earlier we had received reports from that sector. People said they were seeing something strange," notes the expert.

Allegations of injuries caused by the presence of unidentified flying objects go back to the very start of the contemporary manifestations of the phenomenon in the 1940s. Readers with a thorough background in the field are probably thinking right now of the Stephen Michalak case (Canada, 1965) or in Aracariguama case (Brasil, 1949), or far less lurid incidents like the patrolman whose injury - a pet alligator bite - was allegedly healed by a beam from a UFO Groups of humans have been victims of these beam attacks, as in Argentina's Trancas case, where a family was besieged within their home by beam weapons that caused a drastic increase in temperature, or Brazil's Ilha Colhares, where townspeople fell prey to the predations of the box-like - and still unexplained - chupa-chupas.

Older cases can almost surely be found, going back as far as the Bible, when the explanations for these beams were usually associated with the punishment of the wicked or manifestations of extreme divine displeasure. It may sound a bit cavalier to say "physical effects are the least of it", but humans have also undergone profound psychological changes as a result of these projections: changes in religious philosophy, dramatic IQ increases and other mutations are known, although they remain largely anecdotal. In olden days, we would refer to this phenomenon as "illumination" - perhaps with good reason. Much like Paul on the way to Damascus, a non-human presence crosses our path and changes our lives forever in a blaze of light.

US: Witnesses attempt to signal UFO moving toward Delaware Water Gap

Two New Jersey witnesses report a "strange light" in the sky near 9 p.m. on May 10, 2010, that was very bright about three miles from their location and heading toward the Delaware Water Gap, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

One witness attempted to signal the object, but there was no response.

"It at first seemed to be hovering over one point but we found the object to be maneuvering away from our position, as it eventually disappeared over the horizon," the reporting witness stated.

The Delaware Water Gap sits near the Pennsylvania and New Jersey border where the Delaware River moves through a large ridge along the Appalachian Mountains.

Opinion: Attempts at signaling UFOs is often discouraged by ufologists, especially for those witnesses encountering an object near ground level. Several cases reported to MUFON within the past year indicate that, upon signaling, the UFO moves alarmingly near those who are signaling. Several witnesses in these cases then report missing time. Use caution in these cases - especially in rural and unpopulated areas where seeking shelter from the UFO may be difficult. Should an object beam a light toward you - move immediately away from the light and seek shelter and assistance.

US: Father-son observe three large, silent objects cross southwestern Arizona sky

Two southwestern Arizona witnesses are reporting three large, silent objects that crossed the eastern horizon south to north at 9 p.m. on April 9, 2010, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The father and son witnesses were relaxing in their backyard when the son pointed out the first object in the night sky.

The son described the first object as "a soft white, single color ribbon, flying silently across the sky."

Shortly they both saw the second object also moving south to north and now directly overhead.

The third object was soon seen near where they observed the first object.

"The object seemed very large, quiet with a faint white, luminescent light emanating from it," the reporting witness stated.

"It was as if we were seeing something that was almost completely invisible, except for the curved leading edge of the crescent."

The witnesses were unable to say how large the objects were, but are guessing that they were very large and at a high altitude. They report that they live in the middle of a medium sized city, with two military bases nearby.

US: Triangle-shaped UFO shoots low over Los Angeles, California May 10

A California witness reported a triangle-shaped UFO with 6 lights flew over Los Angeles on May 10, 2010, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness said the object was visible in the sky for about 5 seconds.

The lights appeared to be the color of the moon. The object then seemed to "rotate or tumble" and was soon gone as it moved south.

The following is the unedited and as yet uninvestigated report filed with MUFON. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If California MUFON investigates and reports back on this case, I will release an update.

US: Salt Lake City family gives chase to shape shifting UFO

A Salt Lake City, Utah, family watched and chased a shape-shifting UFO that turned into a rather bizarre "flying humanoid" sighting in the night sky on May 9, 2010, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The Mothers Day picnic started out rather normal, including the watching of an "Alien Cover-up" program on the BIO channel.

But normalcy stopped when the father and son noticed an object in the sky that appeared to be shape shifting.

"It appeared to be a kite and then it looked like a hang glider then when it was approaching a corner heading west at an angle I saw wings or spiky points in the back and it was like it was shape shifting," the reporting witness stated. "It was changing shapes as it was moving."

One of the witnesses attempted to photograph the object, but later said the photos did not look like what they were seeing.

As the object moved away, some of the family members gave chase.

"When I spotted it during our journey of following it, at times it appeared to have wings of some kind and the weird part of it was when it ascended straight up it did a loop and it appeared to have WINGS like the Nazca Condor."

US: Missouri family watches hovering cigar-shaped UFO over daylight sky

A Missouri family watched a shiny, silver, cigar-shaped object hover in the sky over their home at 5 p.m. on May 9, 2010, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

"I talked to it and said, 'come on, come down here.., I see you up there,' and when I said that it seemed to get brighter, then floated off to the northwest," the reporting witness stated. "It never went up or down, but stayed at the same level so it couldn't have been balloons. Plus it was extremely bright for something in the sky during the day. I hope someone else saw it in my area."

No city was mentioned in the public part of the report.

US: Triangle UFO hovers 50 feet over Platte City, Missouri, cow pasture

A Missouri man near Platte City reports a black triangular object was hovering 50 feet over his cow pasture and beaming a light to the ground at approximately 9:15 p.m. on May 8, 2010, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The man spoke with Missouri State Section Director Margie Kay and asked to remain anonymous.

The man stated that he stood about 300 yards from the object and that it had one white light at each of the three corners, and a blue-white light underneath. The object was described as at least 100 yards in width from corner to corner.

"After he watched it for about 5-10 minutes, the beam of light went out and the craft moved upward into the clouds until he could no longer see it clearly," Kay stated in the report. "The UFO then moved in a Southwest direction very slowly, and just above the clouds. He stated that there was no sound whatsoever. He could see the lights on the UFO as it moved through the clouds."

The man stated that he was "too paralyzed to move and go get a camera, but he thought that it would be too dark to get a picture anyway." Kay also questioned whether or not the man has explored the ground area where the light was beaming too - and he had not, but planned to do so sometime this week.

Platte City is in Platte County, Missouri, population 3,866, and is the county seat.

US: Two Witness Unknown Object Hovering near Charlotte, North Carolina

We were sitting in the living room of a third story condo watching a movie around 9:30 PM.

The sliding glass windows face south towards a man-made lake.

I suddenly noticed a bright light in the sky that didn't seem to be moving like an airplane or helicopter. It hovered about 500 feet above the center of Charlotte, and did not move.

There were no flashing lights like an airplane or helicopter would have. It had an orangish light emanating from it.

Two unidentified craft suddenly moved toward it and one hovered close for about 3 minutes and the other moved away and was determined to be some sort of airplane.

The second craft finally moved away from the unidentified object in the sky.
