Witness Statement: I went into the back bedroom just before 10pm to shut the blind & noticed a red light in the sky to the west, climbing before being temporarily obscured by trees about 3 gardens down. It then re-emerged from behind the trees, following a gentle curve to the left, so heading north, still with a steady red reflected light. I estimate if it was at a height of around 10,000 feet it would have been about 5 to 10 miles away in the sky, possibly more, but that's a very rough guess based on seeing planes climbing out of Manchester airport. It could well have been flying a lot higher than 10,000ft, however.

Witness Statement: I looked out of our bedroom window at 11.35pm and saw a huge reddy/orange ball moving in the direction of our house. I said to my husband 'what the hell is that' and we both looked out of the window to see this big mass of colour -we couldnt see what it was. And then it moved to the right and passed the house. It wasn't traveling very fast. In fact, we were looking at it for a good 30 seconds. I've never seen anything like that before-it definitely was not a plane or anything like that!

Witness Statement: Returning home from my dog walk, I noticed in the east two red circular discs about 15degrees apart heading north. Stopping then slowly moving before going into a cloud, soon another appeared within 1 minute heading north, they were not helicopters or planes as they were close enough to hear any engine noise.

I am a amateur astronomer with Durham Society, so I am used to seeing objects in the night sky, but this is my first sighting which was unusual & that I have no explanation as to what we saw. Puzzled to say the least.

A dog owner got a spooky surprise when he noticed a strange apparition in photos he had taken while walking his pet in a park.

Paul Reed was out taking Harry on his daily walk in Kelsey Park in Beckenham and wanted to take pictures of his Border Collie dog to prove to News Shopper readers dogs could be safely let off their leads and kept under control.

We have recently received letters calling for more responsible ownership and debating whether dogs in the park should be kept on a leash as they allegedly chase wildlife.

Two U.S. fighter planes were scrambled and ordered to shoot down an unidentified flying object (UFO) over the English countryside during the Cold War, according to secret files made public on Monday.

One pilot said he was seconds away from firing 24 rockets at the object, which moved erratically and gave a radar reading like "a flying aircraft carrier."

The pilot, Milton Torres, now 77 and living in Miami, said it spent periods motionless in the sky before reaching estimated speeds of more than 7,600 mph.

After the alert, a shadowy figure told Torres he must never talk about the incident and he duly kept silent for more than 30 years.

His story was among dozens of UFO sightings in defense ministry files released at the National Archives in London.

In a written account, Torres described how he scrambled his F-86 D Sabre jet in calm weather from the Royal Air Force base at Manston, Kent in May 1957.

"I was only a lieutenant and very much aware of the gravity of the situation. I felt very much like a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest," he said.

This beam of unexplained light was captured on the night of the 2/3rd of May 2010, using nightvision goggles. Location East Field - Wiltshire.

A group in Powell, Ohio, report watching a V-shaped object on May 15, 2010, that appeared to be burning with a pulsing red-yellow-orange light, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

"it flew to the south east and never appeared to get lower or higher in the sky," the reporting witness stated. "There was no sound like an airplane engine, even though it was close enough to have heard an engine."

Powell is in Delaware County, Ohio, population 6,247.

The following is the unedited and as yet uninvestigated report filed with MUFON. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If Ohio MUFON State Director William E. Jones investigates and reports back on this case, I will release an update.

A South Carolina family watched three balls of light moving across the sky in a triangle formation on May 2, 2010, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

"Through the binoculars we could see three points of light but couldn't tell if it was the same object or three separate ones," the reporting witness stated.

The witness says that it was most likely three separate objects though.

"I have no idea what they are, but it seems they are three separate objects because the stars are clearly visible between them. We lost sight of the object after about 25 minutes due to clouds and the fact that it was very slowly moving away."

No city was mentioned in the public part of the MUFON report.

A Mississippi witness - and later his nearby co-workers - watched what appeared to be two large, red objects that were emitting "directional lights" on May 14, 2010, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

"As the lights moved across the sky, the light being emitted from them began to fade, not as in fading from moving farther away, but fading as in the lights were shinning ahead of the two craft," the reporting witness stated. "And, it could have been one large craft with a light at each end. The distance between the two lights, was, at arms length, in my field of view, 5 to 6 inches apart when they were directly due south from me as they moved across the sky."

A commercial jet in the sky at the same time appeared to be 4 or 5 times higher in the sky.

No city name was given in the public portion of the MUFON report.

An Ohio witness watching a bright, star-light object on May 14, 2010, chased the object into Pennsylvania and back into Ohio for a better look, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The object was first observed in Ohio, but appeared to be northwest of Sharon, Pennsylvania. The witness then headed into downtown Sharon for a better look.

"At this point I knew what I was seeing was something unusual because it was low in the sky and there were no blinking red, white, or blue lights surrounding it that would indicate some type of commercial or private human aircraft," the witness stated.

The witness then moved to high ground along Route 846 just northwest of Sharon.

"By now the light seemed that it was more above me rather than so much in the distance and appeared to have a more yellowish cast. I continued to search for more open space so turned left and the next main intersection and headed west into Trumbull County, Ohio."

The witness then searched for open fields, but found the "best view while on route 305 about 2 to 3 miles west of Hartford Center."

The object had now moved a distance away into the northwest sky.

"At this point, although still quite large and yet at a greater distance away the object appeared more yellowish-orange and more pulsating. I continued to pursue while on route 305 until lost sight of object behind the distant trees to the northwest of route 11."

Sharon is in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, and is near Youngstown, Ohio.
