High Strangeness
The news of Stringfield's work surfacing and in MUFON's hands now had been kept secret prior to the 8 p.m. announcement as one of two "blockbuster UFO discoveries" that the group was to make at the Cincinnati event. A second briefing will be made about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 5.
Stringfield (1920-1994) was an American ufologist who worked with government and private agencies to track UFO reports and had a special interest in reports of crashed objects.
MUFON Pennsylvania State Director John Ventre, reacting by telephone just minutes after the announcement, said MacDonald touched on just some of the written evidence compiled by Stringfield.
Ever since 1750 the mysterious monster in Seljord Telemark has been written about.
Periodically, there have emerged new pictures of the snake, which eventually was named Selma.
Thursday afternoon family and Vefall Haga turned to look at the water, when they suddenly saw what they are now convinced is Selma.
The mysterious film, which you can see the top of the article, was shot by 17-year-old Lisbeth Vefall. She brought her camera with her to film the family on a trip, but quickly realized that she had made a real scoop.
- It is absolutely amazing. I have long dreamed of filming the monster, she said adding:
- The ones I have shown the video to, find it very funny, she says.
The video by Lisbeth Vefall clearly shows a long object in the water.
"We saw what we saw, no doubt about it", Andreas Solvik says.
Together with his friends Finn Nyhammer and Arvid Otterdal he was out on a small trip on the lake in Hornindal in Sogn og Fjordane wednesday this week.
Suddenly they became aware of some disturbances in the surface of the lake.

Crop circles have appeared in a wheat field located in Wilbur, Washington, not far from the nation's largest hydropower producer.
Greg Geib comes from a long generation of farmers. His family has lived on the property he owns for more than 100 years. The road is even named after him. And in that time they've never seen their wheat crop mysteriously carved out with crop circles.
Until now.
"I was kind of like, hmm, I wonder what this is all about," Geib said.
"My reaction was like, 'Why me?'" he laughed.
Last week a neighbor called, telling Greg about the crop circles in the land they farm near Highway 174. The Geibs say it's the third instance of crop circles in the Wilbur area in the past five years.
"I guess its our turn," Cindy Geib said.
Hellyer is also concerned the United States is preparing weapons for use against the aliens and could get the whole world into an "intergalactic war." According to Hellyer, the U.S. interest in returning to the moon is in part based on the desire to build a forward military base there.
Marina Vasilieva became a Soviet Air Force pilot and in 1964, a military test pilot. She authored nine books and two screenplays. Among many other awards, she has been honored as Hero of Socialist Labor, the Order of Courage (presented personally by Vladimir Putin in June 2007) and a star in the Cancer constellation bears her name.
Marina Popovich has been outspoken about UFO reality.
Or maybe not. Maybe Ike just went to the dentist. There's some dispute about this.
Michael Salla's new book advances his theory that, in 1954, President Eisenhower met secretly with extraterrestrial ambassadors. (Jahi Chikwendiu -- The Washington Post)
The Ike-met-with-ETs theory is advanced by Michael Salla, a former American University professor who now runs the Peace Ambassador Program at AU's Center for Global Peace.
The Ike-went-to-the-dentist theory is advanced by the folks at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Library in Abilene, Kan. And by James M. Mixson, a dentist, professor of dentistry and historian of presidential dental work.
Just to make things more intriguing: On the night in question, the Associated Press reported this: "Pres. Eisenhower died tonight of a heart attack in Palm Springs."

The image snapped by George Edwards shows the mysterious hump in the water slowly heading towards Urquhart Castle.
Shot by George Edwards - who has led Nessie hunts as part of his Loch Ness Cruise business in Drumnadrochit for the past 26 years - it shows a mysterious dark hump moving in the water towards Urquhart Castle.
The image was captured by Mr Edwards from his passenger boat, Nessie Hunter IV, while using sonar to search for old engines used to build the A82 which were supposedly dumped in the loch, south of the Clansman Hotel at Brackla.
"I was just about to return to Temple Pier (in Drumnadrochit) and I went to the back of the boat which was facing the pier and that's when I saw it," said 60-year-old Mr Edwards, a lifelong believer in the monster.
"It was slowly moving up the loch towards Urquhart Castle and it was a dark grey colour.
"It was quite a fair way from the boat, probably about half a mile away but it's difficult to tell in water."
After watching the object for five to 10 minutes, Mr Edwards said it slowly sank below the surface and never resurfaced.
"I'm convinced I was seeing Nessie as I believe in these creatures. Far too many people have being seeing them for far too long," he said.
He posted a video of it to YouTube and it went viral, stirring controversy around the Web (watch the video at the bottom of this post). Enhancing the video, some saw a dome atop a disc-shaped spacecraft; others thought it might be a blimp at first, but realized it wasn't because, as one poster asked, "Why would a company spend millions getting a blimp in the air and then not put advertising on it?"
This is not the first time that UFOs have been sighted flying over or near public events. Though extraterrestrials have been shy about landing on the proverbial White house lawn, they have (allegedly) appeared above huge crowds many times.
For example, in December 2011 an unidentified craft was spotted hovering high above an anti-government protest in Moscow's Bolotnaya Square in Russia. It was strangely silent, and clearly not a helicopter. The UFO was caught on video, and had some protesters wondering if they were being watched by aliens. Later analysis showed that the UFO was in fact a camera drone used by the news media.
The witness says he saw the unidentified flying object hovering in the sky and ran to get his camera. By the time he took this video it had moved further away. What he did catch is shaped like a saucer but shows no lights or identifying marks. That should rule it out as any known aircraft.
There are elongated clouds in the sky, but this object is smaller and much more rounded. It doesn't look like a cloud.
Commenters on the channel claim to have seen similar objects to this UFO. The witness does say the object vanished just after he stopped filming, so that also seems to rule out cloud formations. Unfortunately, the video segment ends before that happens.
