If the trend continues, the number of deaths from lung cancer among non-smokers will leapfrog those among nicotine users in a decade.
Previously, nine in ten cases of the disease were linked to cigarette use, but this proportion has decreased as more people shun the habit.
The increase in lung cancer rates among non-smokers was noted by experts at the UK's largest cancer surgery centre, London's Brompton Hospital and Harefield NHS Trust, The Times reported.
National data regarding lung cancer among non-smokers is hard to obtain, so other researchers are yet to notice the trend.
However, a similar trend has been observed in America.
Money to push opioids found one doctor in 12, and the rampant destruction wrought upon countless American families forced to cope with loved ones dependent on prescription painkillers, or on heroin sought when those ran out, proves circumstantially the dollars did their job.
"The next step is to understand these links between payments, prescribing practices, and overdose deaths," Scott Hadland, a pediatrician and author of the study, published in the American Journal of Public Health, told the Washington Post.
Comment: Trump declares opioid crisis a 'national emergency'
"The opioid crisis is an emergency, and I'm saying officially right now it is an emergency. It's a national emergency," President Trump told reporters before a security briefing on Thursday at his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey. The question now is will Trump and his 'documents' go after Big Pharma and their role in the opioid epidemic?
"We're going to spend a lot of time, a lot of effort and a lot of money on the opioid crisis."
Trump told reporters the drug crisis afflicting the US is a "serious problem the likes of which we have never had" and said he's drawing up documents "to so attest."

A report by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released Thursday states that the five people had undergone a procedure to be fitted with the saline-filled balloon since April last year. In each case, the patient died within a month or less. In three cases, the patients died within three days of the procedure.
The cause of the patients' deaths remains unknown, the FDA noted in its report.
"At this time, we do not know the root cause or incidence rate of patient death, nor have we been able to definitively attribute the deaths to the devices or the insertion procedures for these devices," the report says.
Blue Cross/Blue Shield published the 2016 Performance Recognition Program, a 28-page report indicating how medical insurance companies actually increase the costs of healthcare!
Comment: How much money do pediatricians really make from vaccines?
Big Pharma funds medical education programs for physicians and then pitches new drugs to them. Pharma pays doctors for promotional speaking engagements and provides them with free drug samples and free meals, etc.2 To get an idea of the extent of these financial ties, the pharmaceutical industry paid physicians and hospitals at least $3.5 billion during only the last five months of 2013.3Doctors pushing vaccines receive 'Merck Vaccination Service Awards'

Where does your doctor's allegiance lie? Does your healthcare professional listen to your needs and wants as a parent or are they nothing more than affiliate distributors for pharmaceutical companies? It was reported by independent journalist recently that some doctors offices are now demanding their patients sign an immunization contract. What's an immunization contract you ask? The contract-created outside of law and denying informed consent-requires prospective patients to agree, by signature, to allow 25 vaccines to be injected into their child over a series of visits. Also uncovered in the same investigation, doctors can receive up to $225 per service achieved in the insurance provider category of "childhood immunization [combo 2]" .

The report called for a return to ‘whole foods’ such as meat, dairy and high-fat healthy foods like avocados.
Urging people to follow low-fat diets and to lower their cholesterol is having "disastrous health consequences", a health charity has warned.
In a damning report that accuses major public health bodies of colluding with the food industry, the National Obesity Forum and the Public Health Collaboration call for a "major overhaul" of current dietary guidelines. They say the focus on low-fat diets is failing to address Britain's obesity crisis, while snacking between meals is making people fat.
Comment: While this article is over a year old it is interesting to note that Prof Naveed Sattar states that "eating more fat is highly contentious and could have public health consequences." The opposite is shown to be true! Fat is good for you! Eating a high carb -low fat diet is what is causing adverse public health consequences:

The new Bristol University study of almost 10,000 from southwestern England found that vegetarians were more likely to develop depression due to vitamin and mineral deficiencies that can negatively impact their mental health.
The 350 committed vegetarians who participated in the study had a higher average depression score when compared to the meat-eaters, according to the study, which was published in the Journal of Affective Disorders.
The vegetarians' diet tended to feature lower vitamin B12 consumption, as well as greater intake of nuts that contain omega-6 fatty acids, which have been linked with an increased risk of mental health problems.

About 10 per cent of the 422 million people with diabetes worldwide have type 1. This is caused by the immune system destroying the islet cells in the pancreas that make insulin. For more than 15 years, researchers have been trying to find a way to replace these using stem cells.
Now Viacyte, a company in San Diego, California, is about to find out if it has succeeded. The firm's credit card-sized implant contains progenitor cells derived from stem cells. Once inside the body, they mature into islet cells. The implant sits just below the skin, in the forearm, for example, and is intended to compensate for the lost islet cells, releasing insulin when blood sugar levels get too high.

Toxicologist Albert Donnay says he's found evidence a 1989 study commissioned by EPA on the health effects of carbon monoxide, which, if true, could call into question 25 years of regulations and billions of dollars on catalytic converters for automobiles.
"They claimed to find an effect when there wasn't one," Donnay told The Daily Caller News Foundation (TheDCNF). "They even fabricated the methods they used to get their results. They were spinning this to give EPA what they wanted and commissioned," Donnay said. "They reported results that could not have come from human beings."
Comment: Mr. Donnay is experiencing 'kill the message'. If that doesn't work, we can guess stage two. One mustn't rewrite profitable and manipulative history with truths.

Comment: One obvious question: If pollution can cause lung cancer in never-smokers can't it cause lung cancer in smokers too?
- Air pollution associated with risk of lung cancer, faster death
- Air Pollution Linked to Lung Cancer
- Low levels of air pollution increase lung cancer and heart failure risk
And finally...Smoking Does Not Cause Lung Cancer
