Lab-grown meat in U.S. approved by USDA: Scientists raise valid concerns over safety

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on Wednesday approved the sale of lab-grown meat for the first time, giving two California-based food technology startups the green light to sell chicken grown in a lab from animal cells, The Associated Press (AP) reported.

The approval granted to Upside Foods and Good Meat — the first two companies to go through the regulatory approval process — makes the U.S. the second country in the world, behind Singapore, to allow sales of lab-grown or so-called "cultivated" meat.

Pro basketball player who previously blamed COVID vaccine for rare heart condition dies of heart attack

Professional Dominican basketball player Óscar Cabrera Adames died this week after an apparent heart attack while he was possibly undergoing a stress test.

According to a social media post from Dominican sports commentator Héctor Gómez, the 28-year-old's stress test was being performed at a health center in Santo Domingo.

Cabrera Adames is believed to have suffered from myocarditis. The disease can weaken the heart and its electrical system, which decreases the heart's ability to pump blood, according to the American Heart Association.

Following his death, social media posts surfaced in which Cabrera Adames suggested he developed the rare heart disease after he received two doses of a COVID vaccine.

"I got a damn Myocarditis from taking a f---ing vaccine. (I got 2 doses of Pfizer) And I knew it! Many people warned me," Cabrera Adames wrote on social media.

The prevailing narrative tells us that vaccinating the frail and elderly against Covid had a dramatic effect on mortality. How strong is the presumed effect of a Covid vaccine in that vulnerable population? Is it as strong as many believe, or perhaps much closer to zero than to the other end of the scale?

First, there is bad news to share, even before estimating any possible benefit.

Data from Denmark, Israel, and Sweden show increased risk of infection within one week or so after the first dose. Possible mechanisms include transient immunosuppression (decreased lymphocyte count), conversion of asymptomatic infection to symptomatic infection, and infection at vaccination sites. News outlets in Israel reported outbreaks of Covid infections in nursing homes shortly after the initiation of the vaccination campaign, and again after initiating the booster campaign (use Google Translate). Needless to say, when the risk of infection increases, the risk of death increases too.

Skipping the hazard period, studies of vaccine effectiveness (thereafter, VE) reported a remarkable result that should have surprised knowledgeable readers. Estimates for the elderly have been extremely high, sometimes similar to those for younger age groups. For instance, a study in Israel of elderly residents of long-term care facilities reported VE of 85% against Covid death.

Leading doctors have concluded that the death of legendary Australian cricketer Shane Warne was likely precipitated by the Covid mRNA vaccine that he had taken approximately nine months prior to his sudden cardiac death. His post mortem findings revealed coronary atherosclerosis.

Cardiologists Dr. Aseem Malhotra and Dr. Chris Neil, who is President of the Australian Medical Professionals Society, have concluded that the Covid vaccine can cause a rapid acceleration of coronary disease especially in those that may already have undetected mild disease. Dr. Malhotra has further concerns that the Covid mRNA vaccines may be masking angina by damaging heart nerves, resulting in patients not experiencing the chest pain that typically precedes a diagnosis of severe blockages in the heart arteries, leading to detection not occurring until it's too late, with the first symptoms often presenting as a cardiac arrest.

With the number of extreme weather days rising around the globe in recent years due to global warming, it is no surprise that there has been an upward trend in hospital visits and admissions for injuries caused by high heat over the last several years. But cold temperatures are responsible for almost all temperature-related deaths, according to a new study published in the journal Environmental Research.

According to the new study by researchers at the University of Illinois Chicago, patients who died because of cold temperatures were responsible for 94% of temperature-related deaths, even though hypothermia was responsible for only 27% of temperature-related hospital visits.

"With the decrease in the number of cold weather days over the last several decades, we still see more deaths due to cold weather as opposed to hot weather," said Lee Friedman, associate professor of environmental and occupational health sciences in the UIC School of Public Health and corresponding author on the paper. "This is in part due to the body's poorer ability to thermoregulate once hypothermia sets in, as well as since there are fewer cold weather days overall, people don't have time to acclimate to cold when those rarer cold days do occur."

Comment: Cold kills a lot more people than heat, yet the focus is on heat related deaths. A cooling climate would be much more devastating than a warming climate and despite the current MSM hype, a cooling could well be on the cards if not already underway.

MHRA admits that it missed Covid vaccine safety signals

I'm not one prone to hyperbole but MHRA's latest response to one of my freedom of information (FOI) requests seems to me to be a straightforward admission that it missed Covid vaccine safety signals up to mid 2022 (not to mention safety signals with other vaccines).

Last year, whilst trawling through minutes of meetings of the Commission on Human Medicines (here and specifically here), I discovered that MHRA had been concerned about the large numbers of Covid vaccine Yellow Card reports swamping the database and distorting the statistical analysis it relies on to detect safety signals. MHRA was concerned enough to conduct an investigation, write a report and consult the Commission on Human Medicines about it in June 2022. So I submitted an FOI last December asking for a copy of MHRA's report. This was all mentioned in the Perseus Report of which I was a co-author.

Nearly four months after my FOI, and after two complaints to the ICO (here and here) including the threat of legal action, MHRA eventually sent me its report. It's quite technical but it makes very interesting reading.

'Annual All-Cause Mortality Rate in Germany and Japan (2005 to 2022) with Focus on the COVID-19 Pandemic: Hypothesis and Trend Analyses' is a letter in the journal Medicine and Clinical Science by Hagen Scherb and Keiji Hayashi, comparing mortality trends across these two "highly industrialised countries, which have large and ageing populations in common". It's the first piece I know of to look closely at pandemic-era mortality trends in Japan - a country which provides a useful control on many fronts, because it took a relatively relaxed approach to non-pharmaceutical interventions, like many other Asian jurisdictions never saw much Covid mortality, and yet since autumn 2021 has a substantially higher vaccination rate than Germany.

This will shock you, but the results don't look great for the vaccines.

A brand new study from the Cleveland Clinic is out. And it found something we already knew: Covid vaccines increase the chances of getting Covid instead of being protective.

In the pre-print study, which is awaiting peer-review, Shrestha et al. looked at specific employees of the Cleveland Clinic. Most of them are Covid-vaccinated due to the federal mandate. However, while a minority (11,990 employees) chose to be 'up-to-date' on their Covid vaccines, the majority (36,344 employees) wisely chose to refuse Covid vaccines.

Guess which group had more Covid? The up-to-date people had approximately 25% more Covid infections.
