The research, published in The Journal of Nutrition, examined data from 840 Australians who took part in the Ausimmune Study to determine whether there was a link between consuming a Mediterranean diet that includes unprocessed red meat, such as lamb, beef and pork, and a reduced risk of a first episode of CNS demyelination, a common precursor to MS.
Lead author Dr. Lucinda Black, from the School of Public Health at Curtin University who completed the research as part of her MSWA Postdoctoral Fellowship, said the number of people being diagnosed with MS was increasing globally, suggesting that environmental factors such as low sun exposure, low vitamin D, and poor diet may be contributing factors.
Gram negative bacteria is a multi-drug resistant bug that threatens hospitals and nursing homes with deadly illnesses like pneumonia and bloodstream infections. It is an incredibly difficult infection to treat and is top of the World Health Organization's list of priority pathogens that need new medicines. No new treatments have been created in 50 years.
However that looks set to change after researchers from Sheffield University tweaked the structures of metal-based compounds found in anticancer drugs. "We ended up with something that was toxic towards bacteria, particularly gram negative bacteria, and not toxic towards humans" said Jim Thomas, professor of bio-inorganic chemistry at Sheffield University.

Poster girl for the meat-free revolution, Virpi Mikkonen: 'My vegan diet brought on early menopause'
There were other problems: a bout of flu that was hard to shift; crumbling nails; feeling low; and, most worrying, her periods stopped. A blood test revealed her follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels had sky-rocketed to the level at which women hit the menopause. Virpi was 37 and having hot flushes.
'I thought, what's wrong with me? I am healthy, I exercise,' Virpi says. 'I was really scared.'
Comment: Whether Mikkonen actually believes some people are suited to veganism or not, she's still perpetuating the myth that the diet is healthy for some. Hopefully at least some vegans will be able to take her example on board and take an objective look at their own health and follow in her footsteps.

Food testing by The Detox Project shows glyphosate contamination is rampant in organic plant-based protein supplements. When testing eight of the most popular pea protein brands sold on Amazon.com, one organic brand was found to contain more glyphosate than conventional brands
Glyphosate also chelates important minerals; disrupts sulfate synthesis and transport; interferes with the synthesis of aromatic amino acids (shikimate pathway) and methionine, resulting in folate and neurotransmitter shortages; disrupts your microbiome by acting as an antibiotic; impairs methylation pathways; and inhibits pituitary release of thyroid stimulating hormone, which can lead to hypothyroidism.1,2
Roundup has also been linked to certain cancers.3 In March 2015, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified glyphosate as a "probable carcinogen" (Class 2A),4 based on "limited evidence" showing the weed killer can cause non-Hodgkin lymphoma and lung cancer in humans.
So far, three lawsuits against Monsanto (now Bayer) have resulted in high financial awards as Roundup was found to have caused the plaintiffs' Non-Hodgkin lymphomas. The most recent plaintiffs were awarded a $2 billion judgment against Monsanto.5 All of this has led to grave concerns about glyphosate residues in food.
We're now also realizing that genetically engineered (GE) foods are not the only source of this contaminant. Most conventional, non-GE crops are also contaminated, as are some organics. The reason for this has to do with the fact that glyphosate is commonly used as a desiccant or drying agent to speed up harvesting.
But that's not all. Other desiccants may also be causing problems. As a whole, evidence suggests we need to be extremely cautious in our choices of plant-based foods, sticking to organics whenever possible, especially when buying high-lectin foods such as beans, peas and potatoes, as research shows the desiccant paraquat becomes exponentially more hazardous in combination with plant lectins.
Comment: Glyphosate Use is Far Worse Than We Could Imagine
Despite the overwhelming evidence, however, EU Commission bureaucrats and the USA EPA continue to ignore prudence in not banning the toxic chemical pending thorough independent investigation over longer time. If I were cynical, I would almost think this continued official support for glyphosate-based herbicides is about more than mere bureaucratic stupidity or ignorance, even more than simply corruption, though that for sure plays a role. The nutritional quality of our food chain is being systematically destroyed and it is about more than corporate agribusiness profit.See also:

However, the crystals have been largely ignored by scientists, and their actual link to disease remained unknown. The Belgian research groups have now established that the crystals are highly abundant in airway mucus, stimulate the immune system and promote the inflammation and altered mucus production that is often seen in the airways of asthmatics. Together, the academic and company scientists also developed antibodies that can dissolve these crystals to reduce key asthma features. Such antibodies could be first-in-class therapeutics that reverse protein crystals and treat asthma and other chronic inflammatory diseases of the airways. The study is published in the leading journal Science.
Crystals and disease

Monsanto's parent company, Bayer, issued a statement noting that previous research required to bring the product to market has shown that glyphosate is safe.
A group of patients suffering from liver disease had elevated urine levels of glyphosate, the primary weed-killing ingredient in Roundup, according to researchers at the University of California, San Diego.
"We found those patients who had more severe disease had higher levels of [glyphosate] excretion, which means they had higher levels of exposure, presumably through their diet," said lead researcher Paul Mills. He is director of UCSD's Center of Excellence for Research and Training in Integrative Health.

As a result, Bayer's stock is at a 7 year low, their CEO's head is on the chopping block and the company has been forced to sell off some divisions and has been conducting lay-offs. Could this be the end of the seemingly unstoppable Monsanto? Are we reaching a tipping point, possibly leading to an outright ban on this terrible creation? Sounds great, right?5G will be as much as 100 times faster than the current 4G cellular networks. It will transform the way our citizens work, learn, communicate, and travel. It will make American farms more productive, American manufacturing more competitive, and American healthcare better and more accessible. Basically, it covers almost everything, when you get right down to it. Pretty amazing.
And just as 4G networks paved the way for smartphones and all of the exciting breakthroughs - they made possible so many things - this will be more secure and resilient. 5G networks will also create astonishing and really thrilling new opportunities for our people - opportunities that we've never even thought we had a possibility of looking at.
But in order to achieve such vastly superior performance, 5G networks will use technology that is completely different from 4G networks.
Results of a study published this week in the American Journal of Psychiatry suggest that CBD could help to reduce the anxiety and cravings experienced by patients recovering from heroin addiction. Researchers reported that CBD may help to dampen signals in the body that trigger cravings and anxiety in former opioid abusers, in addition to lowering patients' heart rates and levels of stress hormones.
Conducted at Mount Sinai hospital in New York, the double-blind, randomized, controlled study looked at 42 people with a heroin-use disorder who were abstaining from the drug at the time. Participants took either a placebo, a 400 milligram dose of CBD, or an 800 milligram dose at different intervals, allowing researchers to examine the short- and long-term effects of administered CBD. During the study sessions, researchers alternately monitored participants' vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.
Researchers found that patients who were given CBD exhibited lowered feelings of anxiety or craving when exposed to certain psychological cues, such as videos of drug paraphernalia. Tests of such participants' saliva also showed lowered levels of stress hormones, and participants' heart rates were found to be lower than those in the placebo group. Some of these effects were evident in patients up to a week after their final dose of CBD.

Plant-based food lacks proteins and vital amino acids and therefore can stunt growth and cause health problems for children, doctors said in a bombshell legal opinion published last week.
Plant-based food lacks proteins and vital amino acids and therefore can stunt growth and cause health problems for children, doctors said in a bombshell legal opinion published last week. Kids raised vegan need to be constantly monitored and require additional dietary intake to avoid deficiencies. Such a "destabilizing diet" is therefore "not ethical to impose on children," the report argued.
The opinion was issued at the request of a government official after a number of cases where children faced complications, including critical medical conditions, after switching to a vegan diet, according to the Le Soir daily. The report could lead to changes in the law. Forcing kids to abandon animal proteins could be legally qualified as "non-assistance to a person in danger," a crime which entails a prison sentence of up to two years in Belgium, professor Georges Casimir, one of the authors of the report told the paper.
Comment: While forcing children to adhere to vegan diets does pose serious risks to their health, giving any government the power to decide how parents should raise their children is a slippery slope. Where does the decision making begin ...or end? Such laws potentially give the state free rein to remove any and all parental controls. If governments made a concerted effort to publicize the health risks of veganism and engaged the help of mainstream media, parents might take the initiative themselves - no coercion needed.

Comment: It's no surprise that meat was found to be beneficial for Multiple Sclerosis. What is surprising is that its taken so long for science to catch up with what Weston A. Price was saying generations ago - meat is healthy and helps to fight disease.
