The study, conducted by Clear Food, used next-generation genomic technology to analyze foods at a molecular level, ingredient by ingredient. The aim was to confirm that the foods we eat contain the ingredients on the label. When it came to hot dogs, nearly 15% of those tested contained unlabeled ingredients - and in the case of 2%, that ingredient was human DNA.
The authors of the study clearly stated that the numbers of ER visits were less than 5% of the numbers that have been previously reported for pharmaceutical products and the severity of the adverse effects are considerably less for dietary supplements. But somehow, this important perspective was lost by the media.

For those of you who have read the Mary Shelley novel Frankenstein, you remember that the name refers to the scientist Victor Frankenstein, not the monster he constructed from body parts found in the local cemetery. The story has captured the public's imagination for nearly 200 years, and "franken" has become a common prefix—and a pejorative—for genetically modified organisms (GMOs), which are made with cut-and-pasted genetic material from different species of plants, animals and microorganisms. GMO salmon—or franken-fish, as it is sometimes called—is an Atlantic salmon whose DNA has been re-engineered with a "growth-hormone gene construct" made from genetic material of other fish. One of these fish, the ocean pout, is only as closely related to Atlantic salmon, taxonomically speaking, as a human is related to a porcupine or a platypus. This recombination of genetic material would never happen in nature.
Comment: According to a study commissioned by the European Union, fish that have been modified to grow faster also have a higher tolerance to the toxins in their environment. Researchers expressed concerns that both these toxins and the growth hormones would end up in consumers.

Like Lyme disease, the new disease causes headache, fatigue and muscle aches, along with a recurrent fever which returns despite initially appearing to have been cured.
The new illness, which has yet to be named, is carried by bacteria called Borrelia miyamotoi, which is feared to be less responsive to antibiotic treatment than other tick-borne diseases.
Comment: Researchers have studied Borrelia miyamotoi for several years. Official guidelines for Lyme disease are completely inappropriate to treat the several pathogens transmitted by ticks nowadays.

What was once considered sterile has been found teeming with life. This is the microbiome; inner outer space. And we are finally understanding its importance to health of all things.
The microbiome is at the base of the pyramid of life. Scientists are acknowledging it with every new paper published. New books and articles are revealing its importance to the public at large.
This includes vaccine scientists who acknowledge vaccine response hinges on the microbiome. They know vaccines can't work when confronted with intestines containing an imbalanced microbiome. A stark example is the sanitation-challenged developing world where there are no toilets and people defecate in fields. This open defecation leads to imbalanced flora and a compromised immune system where vaccines fail. Vaccines don't stand a chance of working under such circumstances because microbes dictate our immune response.

Emails from folks with allergic or digestive issues to wheat in the United States experienced no symptoms whatsoever when they tried eating pasta on vacation in Italy.
Confused parents wondering why wheat consumption sometimes triggered autoimmune reactions in their children but not at other times.
In my own home, I've long pondered why my husband can eat the wheat I prepare at home, but he experiences negative digestive effects eating even a single roll in a restaurant.
There is clearly something going on with wheat that is not well known by the general public. It goes far and beyond organic versus nonorganic, gluten or hybridization because even conventional wheat triggers no symptoms for some who eat wheat in other parts of the world.
The study, which appears in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, finds that many individuals who are prescribed and take antidepressant medications may not actually have a depressive disorder, and that such drugs are often used by patients who do not meet the diagnostic criteria of depression.
According to the research, among the users of antidepressant medications, 69 percent never met the diagnostic criteria for major depressive disorder (MDD), and 38 percent also never met those for obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social phobia, or generalized anxiety disorder - for which the antidepressant medications are sometimes prescribed.
Comment: Many symptoms labeled as 'depression' are simply natural and normal responses to situational stressors. Rather than taking a pill, relief is better sought through therapy and disengaging from unhealthy dynamics and living situations.
