Modern science often neglects the importance of nature and this is one of the more prominent examples. Many reputable sources of information are now revealing that we've been misled and saturated fat does not cause heart disease. In fact, the "heart healthy" vegetable oils that we've been told to use instead of saturated fat pose a much more significant risk.
In both mice and a Phase 1 human clinical trial involving patients receiving chemotherapy, long periods of not eating significantly lowered white blood cell counts. In mice, fasting cycles then "flipped a regenerative switch," changing the signaling pathways for hematopoietic stem cells, which are responsible for the generation of blood and immune systems, the research showed.
The troubling reality is that we are seeing a huge increase in both chronic disease (over 50% of adults have at least one) and reproductive health issues. The primary force behind the increase in chronic diseases has been unmasked. The sheer amount of toxins overwhelming our body's own detoxification systems, while simultaneously dysregulating the immune and endocrine system, is making us all sick. The CDC reports that over 100 toxic chemicals and metals out of the 212 that were measured (which is but a small fraction of the thousands of chemicals humans are exposed to daily) are present in the average U.S. resident.[i] This load is a prime causative factor for the majority of the epidemic of chronic diseases in the U.S. and must be addressed. Studies have shown that even our babies are being born pre-polluted. Heavy metals like lead and mercury, flame retardants, pesticides, herbicides, Bisphenol A and phthalates have been found in their cord blood, amniotic fluid, and breastmilk.[ii],[iii],[iv]

CLEARING THE AIR Adult women are about twice as likely to have asthma as men. New work in mice finds that testosterone impacts immune cells involved in the disease.
The male sex hormone acts on a group of immune cells that are part of the first line of the body's defense against invaders. These cells are thought to kick-start inflammation in the lungs, which causes airways to narrow during an asthma attack. In mice exposed to an allergen, testosterone reduced the inflammatory response, researchers report in the Nov. 28 Cell Reports.
"How male and female sex hormones can affect the immune system is important for understanding the molecular and cellular basis of sex differences in diseases like asthma," says Nicola Heller, an immunologist at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine not involved in the study. Such findings may lead to new treatments and ways to manage symptoms, she says.
CBD in the form of oils, tinctures, creams and sprays, ingested or applied topically, has been proven very efficacious in treating a wide range of disorders and maladies. Seizures, chronic pain, cancers of all types, Alzheimer's, schizophrenia, GI disturbances and psoriasis are just a few of the illnesses that this weed is known to treat and it's high time cannabis medicine regained its rightful place in pharmacology.
Join us for this episode of The Health and Wellness Show where we explore the abundant medical applications and actions of CBD.

Here's the transcript of the show:
Vera Twomey confirmed that she plans to return to Ireland with her daughter Ava (7) after the way was cleared for the child to receive cannabis oil treatments in her native Cork.
The family had brought Ava to Holland so she could access the medical treatments she so desperately needed.
The delighted mother confirmed the news as she posted a special Facebook message to thank the thousands of Irish people who had backed the family's campaign.
Comment: Authorities need to get over the idea that cannabis is an 'evil recreational drug' when so many health benefits have been observed:
- CBD oil effective in treating symptoms of schizophrenia
- CBD oil treatment saves life of girl stricken with infection-related epilepsy syndrome
- Marijuana extract helps some kids with epilepsy
- Study finds "substantial and conclusive evidence" marijuana effective in treating chronic pain
- Toxic Alzheimer's protein in the brain removed by marijuana compound - THC
- Cannabinoids for Autoimmune Disease
- Study: Daily dose of cannabis extract could help memory in old age

GPs will be asked not to prescribe them any more and to take patients off these treatments if they're currently being prescribed on the NHS.
The Health Secretary has previously been forced to defend his position on homeopathy after he signed an early day motion in support of the treatments on the NHS in 2007.
Comment: Let's cut through the BS here and say what this is actually about. The NHS is firmly in the pockets of Big Pharma whose interest runs directly counter to remedies that will do the job better, with fewer side-effects at significantly lower cost than their blockbuster pharmaceuticals. Multinational pharma giants even threatened to sue the NHS for prescribing cheaper medicine which could save the public millions.
Dr. Helen Beaumont's comment at the end of the piece is exactly right - "Patients currently receiving homeopathic medicine will now be prescribed more costly drugs, which is counter to NHS England's objective of reducing prescribing costs." But while the NHS say they're attempting to lower patient costs, what they're really doing is trying to increase Pharmaceutical profits. From this diabolical perspective, it makes perfect "clinical or economic sense."
One slightly less dark side to this move by the NHS is that homeopathic remedies are quite cheap (although, this can't be said for some of the other natural remedies being blacklisted). From the above, it seems there's nothing stopping doctors from recommending remedies, even if the patient has to shell out a couple of bucks from their own pockets to get them. But for how long? One can be sure that, if Big Pharma decides moves like this are costing them one single cent, some legislation will come through to put a stop it.

What Is Rheumatoid Arthritis?
Rheumatoid arthritis, or RA, is a common autoimmune disorder that affects around one out of one hundred Americans. With RA, people suffer from inflammation of the joints and other tissues in the body. Although the wrists, hands and fingers are most commonly affected, any tissues can become the victim of an autoimmune attack. Joints, skin and even organs such as the eyes or lungs can be affected. In addition to pain and swelling in joints, people with rheumatoid arthritis also can suffer fatigue and stiffness.
According to a recent Pew Research Center study, 46 percent of Americans say they could not live without their smartphones. While this sentiment is clearly hyperbole, more and more people are becoming increasingly dependent on smartphones and other portable electronic devices for news, information, games, and even the occasional phone call.
Along with a growing concern that young people, in particular, may be spending too much time staring into their phones instead of interacting with others, come questions as to the immediate effects on the brain and the possible long-term consequences of such habits.
Hyung Suk Seo, M.D., professor of neuroradiology at Korea University in Seoul, South Korea, and colleagues used magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) to gain unique insight into the brains of smartphone- and internet-addicted teenagers. MRS is a type of MRI that measures the brain's chemical composition.
The study involved 19 young people (mean age 15.5, 9 males) diagnosed with internet or smartphone addiction and 19 gender- and age-matched healthy controls. Twelve of the addicted youth received nine weeks of cognitive behavioral therapy, modified from a cognitive therapy program for gaming addiction, as part of the study.
People who eat fast food - when compared to those that eat none - have a 51% higher depression risk, the scientists found.
There is also a so-called 'dose-response effect' for fast food.
Comment: Is it any wonder some Russians have called for American fast food corporations to be registered as foreign agents and mandatory warnings and threatening pictures for fast food packaging? And is it any wonder the US has a seriously worsening epidemic of depression when over a third of children and teens eat fast food daily.

Comment: Cholesterol levels derived from eating saturated fats are less inflammatory. Not only does the historical record support these conclusions, experience and organic chemistry 101 tells us that it cannot be otherwise. Grandma was right, you should eat your fatty bone broth. Saturated fat is good for you, and vegetable oils, in particular heated oils, are likely a significant contributor to the depositing of fatty substances of plaque on the inner lining of arterial walls, i.e. atherosclerosis.
