Vaccines Implicated in Rocketing Childhood Diabetes Rates

The Times, London reports "Thousands of children revealed to be suffering from diabetes" - The Times - April 4, 2009, showing UK childhood diabetes rates are 15 times higher than previous figures. Childhood diabetes is listed as an adverse reaction to the US drug giant Merck's MMR II and other vaccines and highlights the issue of risk of disease compared to risk of adverse reactions.

At what point and at what social and economic cost do we draw a line? How many cases of autism, diabetes, asthma, allergy and all the rest do there have to be to make the risks of the vaccines worthwhile? The MMR II product information leaflet can be found here: MMR II. The list of potential adverse reactions is long - and added to the end of this article. It includes:-
"Adverse Reactions ...........
Endocrine System
Diabetes mellitus ............"

Genetic 'magic bullet' cures have proven a 'false dawn'

Prof Jones, a geneticist, said the belief that a few genes held the key to ridding the world of conditions such as cancer and diabetes had proved to be "plain wrong". In most cases, hundreds of genes are responsible, and often they have less effect than other factors such as diet, lifestyle and the environment.

Writing in The Daily Telegraph today, the academic and author called for a complete overhaul of the "scattergun" approach to genetic research, which is backed by millions of pounds in funding by governments and medical charities such as the Wellcome Trust.

Prof Jones said he was one of a number of "renegade" scientists who were beginning to question the research. "It's not done to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs, nor to bite the hand that feeds you - nor, in my own profession, to criticise the research programme of the Wellcome Trust, an enormously rich charity that paid much of the bill to read the message written in human DNA.

Screening of Moms for Depression is now mandatory (The Mother's Act)

The promotion of the Mother's Act is like a rewind of a bad movie dating back to the 1960's when rock stars were singing songs about "mother's little helpers."

Women fought for years to gain acceptance of the fact that many female health problems were real and not symptoms of hypochondria. The psycho-pharmaceutical cartel's profit-driven invention of an epidemic of pregnancy-related mental disorders will wipe out a century of work toward that acceptance.

Sadly, the end result of this latest marketing scheme will be that the relatively few women who truly do suffer from postpartum depression will not be taken seriously.

The Mother's Act legislation has already passed in the US House of Representatives. A majority vote in the Senate would represent a major coup for a multibillion dollar industry.

Flashback MSG is being sprayed right on fruits, nuts, seeds, grains, and vegetables as they grow -- even those used in baby food

In the 1970s, reluctant food processors "voluntarily" took processed free glutamic acid (MSG) out of baby food. Today it's back, in fertilizers called "Omega Protein Refined/Hydrolyzed Fish Emulsion" and "Steam Hydrolyzed Feather Meal," both of which contain hydrolyzed proteins; and in a product called AuxiGro WP Plant Metabolic Primer (AuxiGro) produced by Emerald BioAgriculture (formerly Auxein Corporation), which contains both hydrolyzed protein(s) and "monosodium glutamate." AuxiGro is being sprayed on some of the vegetables we and our children will eat, into the air we and our children must breath, and onto the ground from which it can move into drinking water. Head lettuce, leaf lettuce, tomatoes, potatoes, and peanuts were among the first crops targeted. On September 12, 2000, the Auxein Corporation Web site gave the following information:
Crops registered include: Celery; Fresh Market Cucumbers; Edible Navy and Pinto Beans; Grapes; Bulb Onions; Bell, Green and Jalapeno Peppers; Iceberg Head Lettuce; Romaine and Butter Leaf Lettuce; Peanuts; Potatoes; Snap Beans; Strawberries; Processing Tomatoes; Fresh Tomatoes; and Watermelons.
Today, there is no crop that we know of that has not been approved for treatment with MSG by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Injuries, Deaths Caused by Medications Skyrocket 38 Percent

The number of serious injuries and deaths linked to the use of prescription medications reached a new high in the first quarter of 2008, according to a report issued by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices.

Researchers found mention of 4,825 deaths and approximately 21,000 serious injuries among voluntary adverse event reports submitted by doctors to the FDA between January and March. These numbers were 38 percent higher than the quarterly average for 2007 and a striking 200 percent higher than the first quarter of 2007.

The covering up of Autism. Just what is going on?

Image
In the Mail on Sunday today Laura Collins writes about how a specialist changes the diagnoses of a child from Autism because of pressure from the school chiefs. Sadly this is a fairly normal practise in the UK. Children's Autism is being covered up to save costs. Children with Autism need extra educational provision to have their needs met. For this to take place both the health authority and the LEA have to agree that the child is Autistic. However, if only one side say that a child is Autistic then funding is not agreed.

Professionals have been known to use any way they can to avoid diagnosing Autism. They will for example call milder cases of Autism PDD Pervasive Developmental Delay, OCD Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, CD Conduct Disorder, DAMP Deficits in Attention, Motor control, and Perception and finally ADHD Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder as a way of getting around an Autistic Diagnoses. Very often children who are Autistic have threads of many disorders that interlink or interweave with each other and very few children tick all the boxes for an Autistic diagnoses. By only diagnosing one of these disorders in a child who is in fact Autistic and ignoring the Autism is a neat way of avoiding the route cause of their problems and of course without that crucial diagnoses, funding can be refused.

'She ran around like a maniac'

Rain is pelting down on Doña Porcela's treatment room in Puerto Cabezas, the main town on Nicaragua's Northern Caribbean coast.

The room is barren except for a few plastic chairs, a wooden table and some old plastic bottles balanced precariously on timber beams.

Doña Porcela is a respected traditional healer here and the bottles are filled with her secret medicinal potions.

Her patient today is a teenage girl asleep on a piece of cardboard, serving as a mattress on the dirt floor.

"Grisi Siknis turns people into witches and they go crazy," she said.

Last year there were 65 cases of Grisi Siknis, which translates from the local Miskito language as 'crazy sickness'.

China drug scams challenge pharmaceutical firms

Image

When Pang Jianli walked into a Beijing pharmacy to buy medicine for his flu-stricken son, he was greeted by an overwhelming display of boxes and bottles emblazoned with promises of miraculous cures.

"Unlike shopping in supermarkets, where I buy the brands I know and I know the brands I buy, buying drugs is different; the brands you know may not be what they claim to be," said the 38-year-old father.

China's poorly regulated medical market has spawned a new 'Wild West' for untested drugs offered by fly-by-night firms. The medical 'free-for-all' is reminiscent of the era of 'snake-oil salesmen' over a century ago in the United States.

Blind to be cured with stem cells

British scientists have developed the world's first stem cell therapy to cure the most common cause of blindness. Surgeons predict it will become a routine, one-hour procedure that will be generally available in six or seven years' time.

The treatment involves replacing a layer of degenerated cells with new ones created from embryonic stem cells. It was pioneered by scientists and surgeons from the Institute of Ophthalmology at University College London and Moorfields eye hospital.

This week Pfizer, the world's largest pharmaceutical research company, will announce its financial backing to bring the therapy to patients.

The treatment will tackle age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the most common cause of blindness. It affects more than 500,000 Britons and the number is forecast to increase significantly as people live longer. The disease involves the loss of eye cells.

US: Crestwood officials supplied residents with tainted water for 2 decades

Like every town across the nation, south suburban Crestwood tucks a notice into utility bills each summer reassuring residents their drinking water is safe. Village leaders also trumpet the claim in their monthly newsletter, while boasting they offer the cheapest water rates in Cook County.

But those pronouncements hide a troubling reality: For more than two decades, the 11,000 or so residents in this working-class community unknowingly drank tap water contaminated with toxic chemicals linked to cancer and other health problems, a Tribune investigation found.

As village officials were building a national reputation for pinching pennies, and sending out fliers proclaiming Crestwood water was "Good to taste but not to waste!," state and village records obtained by the newspaper show they secretly were drawing water from a contaminated well, apparently to save money.
