Health & Wellness
Writing in the BMJ, Dr Victoria Male, from Imperial College London, said the body's immune response was the likely cause, not something in the vaccines.
There is no evidence they have any impact on pregnancy or fertility.
Some four million coronavirus cases were reported globally last week, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), marking the first major drop in new infections in more than two months. The UN health agency said, in its weekly update, that every region in the world had seen a fall in Covid-19 cases compared to the previous week.
Over recent weeks, there have been about 4.4 million new Covid-19 cases reported.
Although the worldwide number of deaths decreased to about 62,000, with the sharpest decline in Southeast Asia, there was a 7% increase in deaths in Africa.
The highest numbers of cases were seen in the US, Britain, India, Iran and Turkey and the highly contagious Delta variant had now been reported in 180 countries.
WHO also said children and teenagers continued to be less affected by Covid-19 compared to adults, adding that deaths of people aged under 24 due to the disease accounted for less than 0.5% of global deaths. The agency has previously said that children should not be prioritised for Covid-19 vaccinations given the extreme vaccine shortages globally.
While the effectiveness of the mRNA vaccine wanes over time, a booster shot was shown to elicit an immune response similar to the protection generated after a second dose, Pfizer said in a 52-page presentation released by the agency Wednesday.
Pfizer said data from Israel's Covid vaccination program administering boosters to the entire population show that a third shot "has a reactogenicity profile similar to that seen after receipt of the second primary series dose and restores high levels of protection against Covid-19 outcomes (back to approximately 95% protection)." The data was collected from July 1 through Aug. 30 when the delta variant was surging throughout the country.

Colorized scanning electron micrograph of a cell, isolated from a patient sample, that is heavily infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus particles (red).
This long-term immune protection involves several components. Antibodies — proteins that circulate in the blood — recognize foreign substances like viruses and neutralize them. Different types of T cells help recognize and kill pathogens. B cells make new antibodies when the body needs them.
All of these immune-system components have been found in people who recover from SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. But the details of this immune response and how long it lasts after infection have been unclear. Scattered reports of reinfection with SARS-CoV-2 have raised concerns that the immune response to the virus might not be durable.
Comment: The research shows that allowing for the development of natural immunity leads to better protection from all classes of corona virus.

Another data analysis shows the US states that had the best uptake in vaccine compliance also had the greatest numbers of new cases. But that's probably just a coincidence.
And a controversial article from Children's Health Defense talks about a study that showed fully vaccinated healthcare workers carry 251 times the viral load compared to the pre-vaccination era of 2020. While the study's authors say this is a comparison between different variants and can't be said to be because of the vaccines, at the very least this shows that the vaccines aren't working.

A team of Japanese scientists demonstrates that treatment with AHR agonists decreases expression of ACE2 via AHR activation, resulting in suppression of COVID-19.
Researchers have identified two drugs that mimic the effect of chemicals in cigarette smoke to bind to a receptor in mammalian cells that inhibits production of ACE2 proteins, a process that appears to reduce the ability of the SARS-CoV-2 virus to enter the cell.
The findings appear in the journal Scientific Reports on 17 August.
Comment: Considering the demonization of tobacco and smoking, it's surprising that the findings of this study were ever allowed to see the light of day. Although this could be explained in part because, firstly there's a profit to be made in tobacco replacement therapies, but also because it's an undeniable fact that has been discovered by numerous researchers around the world who have published their data.
We first heard about this discovery over in China - that has one of the world's largest tobacco smoking populations - where researchers found early on, with reports coming out in February 2020, that smokers were less likely to contract and suffer from severe coronavirus infection. A few months later France revealed similar findings, and it was confirmed again more than a year later by researchers in India.
Note that tobacco has been in use for thousands of years and it was widely considered to have numerous beneficial and medicinal properties, it was only later that it demonised. Cannabis suffered a similar fate, because it's prohibition strongly served political purposes, however it's now being hailed as an incredibly valuable medicine. Interestingly the historical records show that it was reported that smoking tobacco provided protection against the Black Death.
It's a rather curious convergence we find ourselves in, that the authorities have spent decades tightening the screws on tobacco smokers are now hystericising the population over a relatively harmless virus; a virus whose already vanishing small severity and mortality rate is reduced by the very tobacco smoking they've worked to prohibit.
It's also notable that those countries with some of the most draconian lockdown laws, are also at the forefront of total tobacco prohibition; New Zealand as just one of the most extreme examples. And, as a related aside, Hitler is one of the most well known vociferous anti-smokers.
As for how to make the most of these findings, rather than become involved in yet more experimentation, and opt for unnatural, isolated, and patented products pharmaceutical companies will throw together, it's probably better, for those that find it beneficial, to stick to the natural product, that has thousands of years of safety data, and that may even be more beneficial because it's a whole product with multiple compounds working in synergy:

Research conducted by the University of California has found that teenage boys are six times more likely to suffer from heart problems caused by the COVID-19 vaccine than to be hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 itself.
Wow.
"A team led by Dr Tracy Hoeg at the University of California investigated the rate of cardiac myocarditis - heart inflammation - and chest pain in children aged 12-17 following their second dose of the vaccine," reports the Telegraph.

A specialist team was sent to the southern state of Kerala to assist local medics, after samples from the deceased child returned positive results the presence of Nipah. Before he succumbed on Sunday, the boy had shown symptoms of brain and heart muscle inflammation - conditions known respectively as encephalitis and myocarditis.
Comment: Notably, although most likely unrelated to the outbreak mentioned above, myocarditis is a reported side-effect of the experimental injections: Raising the alarm on myocarditis after Covid vaccination
So far, 11 people in Kerala have been diagnosed with the rare zoonotic virus. They include the boy's parents, his relatives and some of the medics who treated him. More than 250 others have been identified through contact-tracing, with 54 of them in the high-risk category ordered to self-isolate.
Comment: With people's already strained immune systems rendered 'naive', as well as further compromised by the harsh lockdown restrictions and, for some, by the Covid injections, the situation is ripe for the eruption of outbreaks of all kinds:

Bhakdi's Medical Credentials
Bhakdi graduated from medical school in Germany in 1970. After a year of clinical work, he joined the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology, where he remained for four years as a post-doc.
There, he also began researching immunology. Eventually, he ended up chairing the department of medical, microbiology and hygiene at the University of Mainz, where he worked for 22 years until his retirement nine years ago. During that time, Bhakdi also worked on vaccine development, and says he's "certainly pro-vax with regards to the vaccinations that work and that are meaningful."
Firstly, the FDA did not allow public discussion or hold a formal advisory committee meeting to discuss the data, despite previously saying they were "committed" to doing so. They simply said, in a statement to The BMJ, that the agency did not believe a meeting was necessary since they had already held numerous meetings themselves.
There is also a great deal of confusion about the product that has actually been approved. Approval was granted to the branded shot 'Comirnaty,' a product they say can be used "interchangeably" with the Pfizer-BioNtech shot. But the previous shot is still under EUA and is not FDA approved. On top of this, Pfizer says there are "insufficient stocks" of the newly licensed Comirnaty vaccine.
