"This will fix me," O'Connor thought as he went to boot camp. "It better fix me or I'm screwed."
After 13 weeks of sobriety and exercise and discipline, O'Connor completed basic training, but he started using again immediately.
"Same thing," he says. "Percocet, like, off the street. Pills."
Any deficit in normal body water - through dehydration, sickness, exercise or heat stress - can make us feel rotten. First we feel thirsty and fatigued, and may develop a mild headache. This eventually gives way to grumpiness, and mental and physical decline.
We continually lose water via our breath, urine, faeces and skin. Most healthy people regulate their body's water level remarkably well via eating and drinking, and are guided by appetite and thirst. But this is more difficult for infants, the sick, the elderly, athletes, and those with strenuous physical occupations, especially in the heat.
Volek has published many scientific articles as well as several books, including The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living and The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Performance.
Both of these books were co-authored with Dr. Stephen Phinney, a physician and true pioneer in this field, who has studied low-carb diets even longer than Volek.

Children and youth use 4-5 times the recommended amount of technology, with serious and often life threatening consequences (Kaiser Foundation 2010, Active Healthy Kids Canada 2012). Handheld devices (cell phones, tablets, electronic games) have dramatically increased the accessibility and usage of technology, especially by very young children (Common Sense Media, 2013). As a pediatric occupational therapist, I'm calling on parents, teachers and governments to ban the use of all handheld devices for children under the age of 12 years. Following are 10 research-based reasons for this ban. Please visit zonein.ca to view the Zone'in Fact Sheet for referenced research.
The Blackpool Gazette reports:
Coun Graham Cain, cabinet secretary for Blackpool Council, said: "Unfortunately the state of Blackpool's dental health is very poor.
However, where some parts of the country can benefit from fluoride naturally appearing in their daily drinking water, in Blackpool we cannot.
What we do have is a method through the free breakfast programme that allows us to reach all primary school children as they are growing up and make the fluoride milk available to them there.
As many as 15 students at the Northampton School for Boys collapsed onto the floor Tuesday following a series of vaccines which resulted in severe adverse side effects.
As one mother who preferred to remain anonymous described: "Several different vaccines were being administered, and around 10 to 15 pupils keeled over and paramedics were called."
Children were also witnessed "on their backs on the floor with their legs up on chairs," the mom said.
"The rest of the jabs were cancelled and a letter was sent home to the parents of pupils who had been given the jabs about what to do if they felt nauseous. Rumours say there may have been a duff batch of vaccines," the woman said, according to the Daily Mail.
In his sleeveless shirt and gimme cap, he's driving a monster truck or streaking along on a jet ski, pausing to chomp on a turkey drumstick or a barbecued rib, all the while proclaiming his love for America and for Prilosec OTC to fight "frequent heartburn."
The caution that the drug should be taken for no more than 14 days, and not more often than every four months, appears briefly on-screen. If you blink or go fetch your glasses, you'll miss it.
Todd Semla has noticed the ads, too, and he's not a fan. "I don't see Larry the Cable Guy saying, 'If you take this drug often, your kidneys may be affected or you could break a hip,'" said the pharmacist at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, who is past president of the American Geriatrics Society.

The Zika virus has been known to infect people in Africa, South and Central America and Asia for more than 70 years without causing any birth defects.
The Brazilian government declared an emergency in December after 2,400 babies were found to be born with shrunken heads and brain defects believed to be linked to mosquitoes carrying the Zika Virus. The number of babies born with the defects has been rising significantly since then.
But could there be a link between the introduction of the Tdap vaccination that women in Latin America were urged to get before they were 22 weeks pregnant, and the birth of babies with these deformities called "Microcephaly" (literally 'tiny head')?
Comment: For readers who maybe unfamiliar with the Tdap/Petussis vaccine, the following articles provide some 'food for thought' when it comes to brain inflammation:
It has recently come to the attention of the College that one of the recommended vaccines could possibly be associated with the very rare but serious condition of premature ovarian failure (POF), also known as premature menopause. The rest of the press release is a defensive mess, claiming that the studies aren't proof positive. But here's the thing, if the ACP is admitting this small amount, imagine how large the actual issue likely is? They are always in a mode of protection when it comes to this vaccine, it creates a lot of revenue, so for them to admit this is a really big deal. Pharmaceutical companies do not want any negative publications regarding Gardasil. And certainly, they've coerced and influenced this organization into not putting out negative claims over the matter. This tells me that this new discovery is huge and creates potential liability for them. It is so big that they actually fear not disclosing it. But in this same way, it isn't exactly front page news (until now, because we are going to push this news everywhere).
Comment: As Gary Null explains:
There is something deeply wrong with a giant pharmaceutical company spending hundreds of millions of dollars to manipulate women and influence legislation in order to generate a revenue stream of billions of dollars a year for itself at the expense of a gullible public. Because what is wrong with Gardasil isn't just that it is unnecessary. Gardasil is possibly the most dangerous vaccine on the market, with the potential to injure, maim, or even kill the children who receive it.For more information, see:

Just last month, the Perelman School of Medicine in Pennsylvania released a study noting that recurrence of HER2-positive breast cancer may be due to an immune system weakness brought about by the cancer. While the researchers suggest a vaccine targeting HER2, we believe the body is fully equipped to not just meet, but exceed this challenge via the thymus gland.
The thymus gland is one of the principle glands for the auto immune system. It is composed of two soft pinkish-grey lobes lying in a bib-like fashion just below the thyroid gland and above the heart. It is also known as the longevity gland.
