Monsanto to pay $95M over PCB pollution in Washington State

The agrochemical giant Monsanto has agreed to pay Washington state $95 million to settle a lawsuit that blamed it for pervasive pollution from PCBs — toxic industrial chemicals that have accumulated in plants, fish and people around the globe for decades.

The announcement Wednesday from Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson came as Bayer, which acquired Monsanto two years ago, said it would pay $820 million to resolve PCB pollution claims and up to $10.9 billion to resolve many claims, both current and future, over contamination from or exposure to Monsanto's Roundup weedkiller.

PCBs, or polychlorinated biphenyls, were used in many industrial and commercial applications, including in paint, coolants, sealants and hydraulic fluids. Monsanto, based in St. Louis, produced them from 1935 until 1977, two years before they were banned by Congress.

Studies show that combinations of Vitamin D, magnesium, and B12 administered to older COVID-19 patients were associated with a significant reduction in the proportion of patients with clinical deterioration requiring oxygen and intensive care support.
It isn't very comfortable to realize the obvious. The perfect medicine for coronavirus hospital patients would be magnesium chloride given intravenously. Magnesium administration would reduce the progression of the disease to severe or fatal stages, when caught earlier enough, and keep heart patients from dying in the later stages.

Other studies show that combinations of Vitamin D, magnesium, and B12 administered to older COVID-19 patients were associated with a significant reduction in the proportion of patients with clinical deterioration requiring oxygen and intensive care support.

Ten years ago, Dr. Mark Hymen wrote, "I find it very funny that more doctors are not clued into the benefits of magnesium because we use it all the time in conventional medicine. But we never stop to think about why or how important it is to our general health or why it helps our bodies function better."

Mainstream attitudes toward supplements try to dumb us down, like a recent New York Times essay. Too few regular doctors prescribe magnesium. Too few psychologists and psychiatrists prescribe magnesium. A lot of people die from magnesium deficiencies, many more than from the coronavirus. As the only living author of two books on magnesium, I am in a position to make such a statement. The last thing our present generation of health officials wants to count is death from a lack of magnesium. Engine blocks seize without oil. It's the same with human physiology, it seizes without enough magnesium in the cells, and the heart certainly goes into cardiac arrest if magnesium levels drop in the blood.

The new coronavirus' reputation for messing with scientists' assumptions has taken a truly creepy turn.

Researchers exploring the interaction between the coronavirus and its hosts have discovered that when the SARS-CoV-2 virus infects a human cell, it sets off a ghoulish transformation. Obeying instructions from the virus, the newly infected cell sprouts multi-pronged tentacles studded with viral particles.

These disfigured zombie cells appear to be using those streaming filaments, or filopodia, to reach still-healthy neighboring cells. The protuberances appear to bore into the cells' bodies and inject their viral venom directly into those cells' genetic command centers — thus creating another zombie.

Though the whole world relies on RT-PCR to "diagnose" Sars-Cov-2 infection, the science is clear they are not fit for purpose

Lockdowns and hygienic measures around the world are based on numbers of cases and mortality rates created by the so-called SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR tests used to identify "positive" patients, whereby "positive" is usually equated with "infected."

But looking closely at the facts, the conclusion is that these PCR tests are meaningless as a diagnostic tool to determine an alleged infection by a supposedly new virus called SARS-CoV-2.

Unfounded "Test, test, test,..." mantra

At the media briefing on COVID-19 on March 16, 2020, the WHO Director General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said:
"We have a simple message for all countries: test, test, test."
The message was spread through headlines around the world, for instance by Reuters and the BBC.

Still on the 3 of May, the moderator of the heute journal — one of the most important news magazines on German television — was passing the mantra of the corona dogma on to his audience with the admonishing words:
"Test, test, test — that is the credo at the moment, and it is the only way to really understand how much the coronavirus is spreading."

Comment: Well, let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. There IS a new virus called SARS-Cov-2. Where it gets squirrelly is identifying which variant of said virus is found under which microscope. The virus is mutating faster than 'the science' can keep up with it.

Just because most labs haven't the means/will to ID one or other variant of it, doesn't mean all of them haven't. This kind of assumption leads to theorizing that 'viruses don't exist', which is 'up there' with Flat Earth theory.

In the case of National Association of Wheat Growers, et al. v. Zeise, et al., filed by several large agricultural associations in the United States District Court, Eastern District of California, to prevent the State of California from requiring under its Proposition 65 a cancer warning on all glyphosate herbicides and other glyphosate products.

Prop 65 provides transparency about glyphosate because experts have confirmed repeatedly that glyphosate is carcinogenic. The Plaintiffs in this lawsuit are Monsanto-aligned interests who have been asserting that their commercial free-speech rights are being infringed, but the People of California have the sovereign right to these voter-approved product label warnings. In late January 2018, the National Health Federation (NHF) and Moms Across America (MAAM) filed a joint Amici Curiae Brief supporting the State of California and its decision to require warning labels on glyphosate products.

America's water crisis: Bottled water made by Whole Foods contains high levels of arsenic

Bottled water manufactured by Whole Foods and sold in most of its U.S. stores and on Amazon contains potentially harmful levels of arsenic, according to new tests by Consumer Reports.

CR recently tested dozens of bottled water brands and found that Starkey Spring Water, introduced by Whole Foods in 2015, had concerning levels of arsenic, ranging from 9.49 to 9.56 parts per billion (ppb), at least three times the level of every other brand tested. Federal regulations require manufacturers to limit the amount of arsenic, a potentially dangerous heavy metal, in bottled water to 10 ppb.

Consumer Reports' experts believe that level does not adequately protect public health.

The latest information is that the lockdown was unnecessary. In fact, not only was it unnecessary but it turns out that locking people in their homes was exactly the wrong thing to do. A study of almost 800 people shows that the higher your vitamin D status the less the coronavirus will affect you. Get enough sun, the data suggests, and you simply cannot die of the coronavirus.

World health authorities really got it wrong and unbelievably, they got the entire human race to listen to them. Recommending the exact opposite of what was needed, to step into the sun everyday and take D3 supplements and even get D injections would have represented intelligent medicine. We do not need a coronavirus vaccine, we already have one except its not a vaccine. If you want to inject something inject vitamin D.

This is the mostly costly mistake in history costing tens of trillions, destroying millions of small and mid-size businesses, and effecting hundreds of millions of lives. It has literally put hunger in bellies so you can start there with your measurements of suffering.

Are children who consume prodigious amounts of sugary drinks at higher risk for cardiovascular disease?

Can a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and legumes reduce the risk of hip fractures in older adults?

Should sweetened yogurts be a part of a healthy diet for toddlers making their first foray into solid food?

Comment: Leave it to the New York Times to take a real issue and muddle it with a bunch of identitarian politics and outdated science. The dietary guidelines are highly problematic, but the NYT haven't grasped even 10% of it. At least they threw in a quote from Nina Teicholz, someone with an actual grasp of the problem.

The heaviest of Big Ag's heavy hitters told a federal court it should not try to stop GMO cotton and soybean farmers from using illegal dicamba weed killers through the end of July, despite the court's order earlier this month for an immediate ban.

Six national trade associations, all of which have long-standing financial ties to Monsanto and the other companies selling the dicamba products in question, filed a brief on Wednesday with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit urging the court not to try to interfere with the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) announcement that farmers could continue to use the dicamba products through July 31.

They also asked the court not to hold the EPA in contempt as has been requested by the groups that won the June 3 court order issuing the ban.
