Breaking Big Pharma: Doctors call for immediate drug advertising ban

Image
According to a major U.S. doctor group, drug companies should stop advertising to consumers directly. The doctors claim that the ads push patients to pursue expensive treatments and inflate the demand for extra therapies.
"It's a disgusting, dishonorable way to generate sales - but it works. In 2008, the House Commerce Committee found that every $1,000 spent on drug ads produces 24 new patients,1 and a 2003 research report found that prescription rates for drugs promoted with DTC ads were nearly seven times greater than those without such promos.2 Ethics aside, these consumer hustles have proven to be profit bonanzas." -Dr. Mercola
During a recent vote at the annual meeting in Atlanta, the nation's American Medical Association decided that they were going to call for a ban on consumer drug commercials in magazines and television commercials.

Comment: Warning: drug ads are harmful to your health:
In his excellent book, Generation RX, Greg Critser traces the history of direct-to-consumer advertising and unveils early concerns from major drug companies that it would raise fears of disease, sell unnecessary pills and corrupt the doctor/patient relationship. That's exactly what has happened and Pharma is lamenting it all the way to the bank.

Monsanto desperate to stop GMO labeling and glyphosate carcinogen warnings as GMO chickens come home to roost

The seven hundred years-old expression, "curses are like chickens; they always come home to roost," rarely has been more appropriate than to describe what is happening to the world's largest purveyor of gene-manipulated or GMO seeds and paired chemical toxins. It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of genocidal eugenicists. Monsanto Corporation of St Louis is apparently in a deep decline.

Ever since 1992 when that nasty US President George H. W. Bush conspired - yes, Virginia, conspiracies exist - with the leadership of Monsanto to unleash GMOs on an unwitting American population, Monsanto seemed unstoppable.

With the help of Bush, who made a decree that no US Government agency be allowed to independently test GMO seeds or their chemicals for health and safety - the fraudulent and totally unscientific Doctrine of Substantial Equivalence - Monsanto could make its own fraudulent doctored tests and give them to US or EU agencies as valid. As a result, GMO seeds took over American agriculture, based on a pack of lies to farmers that they would raise yields and decrease chemical use. Monsanto spread its GMO far around the world, through bribery as in Indonesia, and through the unusual machinations of the Government of the United States. Monsanto paid scientists to lie about its products safety.

It used the corrupt Brussels European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to back its position, even when alarming studies such as the famous September 2012 Food and Chemical Toxicology peer-reviewed study by Prof. Gilles-Eric Seralini created shock waves around the world. The Seralini study, the first ever long term, two year study of GMO diet with a group of 200 rats found shocking effects. Among them that,"female rats fed Monsanto GMO maize died 2 - 3 times more than controls, and more rapidly... Females developed large mammary tumors almost always more often than, and before, controls; the pituitary was the second most disabled organ; the sex hormonal balance was modified by GMO and Roundup treatments."

Monsanto then set about to kill the messenger by pressuring the Food & Chemical Toxicology journal to hire a former Monsanto employee, Richard E. Goodman, who promptly declared Seralini's study "unscientific" and deleted it, an act almost without precedent in science journals. A year later both Goodman and the journal's editor-in-chief were forced to step down and Seralini's article was republished in another scientific journal. But the scientific character assassination against Seralini had a chilling effect as Monsanto wanted.

Comment: As people are becoming more aware of the dangers of GMOs and the chemicals used to grow them, Monsanto is desperately struggling to hold on to its dwindling profit margins. As the author rightfully states, this couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch of psychopathic, genocidal eugenicists.

The Health & Wellness Show: Mental Health in an Insane World

Sott Talk Radio logo
The Paris terrorist attacks. Suicide bombers in Beirut. The refugee crisis. Increasingly extreme weather all over the world. More and more fireballs spotted across our skies. It seems the chaos and insanity is only increasing on the Big Blue Marble at this time. How can one maintain their sense of sanity in an increasingly insane world?

Today on the Health and Wellness Show we take a deeper look at psychology and how we can do just that - stay sane when it seems all the forces around us are trying to make us do the opposite. We'll be looking at the weaknesses of human psychology and how those can be exploited to nefarious ends and how one can, with proper awareness, defend agains this. The ancient maxim "Know Thyself" figures prominently in our only means of defense.

Join us Fridays at 10am EST for the SOTT Talk Radio Network's Health and Wellness show as we expose the lies and emphasize the truth about health in our modern world.

Coming to a grocer near you: FDA green lights the first genetically modified salmon

Jumbo Salmon

A genetically modified salmon that grows at twice the rate of regular salmon has been approved as food by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The eggs for the salmon are raised in a facility in the eastern P.E.I. community of Bay Fortune and exported to Panama, where they're grown in above-ground tanks.

This is the first genetically modified food animal approved for sale in the world.

The 9 best essential oils for your survival kit

Image
There are many reasons why learning about essential oils is useful for preppers. Not the least of those reasons is to lessen the reliance on expensive and often ineffective and toxic pharmaceuticals. How often have you filled an expensive prescription only to have side effects or find that the drug simply did not work? Other than add these meds to your SHTF barter kit, you are out of luck.

On the other hand, most essential oils are quite inexpensive and have the added bonus that a prescription is not required. With essential oils you have the freedom of where to shop, how much to pay, and how to use them. You can dilute essential oils in a carrier oil or salve, use them in a compress, or diffuse them, or use them in a myriad of other ways suitable to your situation.

Frakenfish alert: Genetically modified salmon cleared for human consumption by the FDA

Image

Federal regulators cleared the way for a genetically engineered salmon to be farmed for human consumption in the first-ever such approval for an animal whose DNA has been scientifically modified.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration's approval of the salmon, developed by AquaBounty Technologies to grow faster than conventional, farmed salmon, followed years of deliberations. The regulator has now declared that the salmon is as nutritious as normally grown Atlantic salmon, which means the salmon will not require special labeling.

Comment: Muir said there is "no credible evidence" that these genetically modified fish are a risk to either human health or the environment."

Really?! Interesting that this debate has gone on for years and yet now, with FDA approval, the 'frakenfish' will not be labeled as such! Talk about setting a precedent for other genetically engineered fish and animals.

Unsure about the safety of this new frakenfish coming to market?

Return to the Dark Ages? Deadly gene resisting all forms of antibiotics found in China

Pigs
© Stephane Mahe / Reuters
Scientists have identified the first gene helping bacteria resist the only antibiotic group known to be effective when all others fail. Chinese and British experts came to the alarming conclusion that our last line of antibiotic defense has been breached.

The conclusion follows a large body of prior research that warns humanity about the dangers of becoming completely resistant to antibiotics. Now, Chinese doctors cooperating with UK specialists from Bristol and Cardiff Universities say we could soon be looking at the spread of uncontrollable superbugs.

In the research published in the journal Lancet Infectious Diseases, the researchers predict a return to the Dark Ages, when even common germs like E. Coli put a person in mortal danger.

"These are extremely worryingly results," professor and co-author on the study Liu Jian-Hua, from China's Southern Agricultural University, said in a press release.

Comment: See how Mother Nature takes care of herself when humans are out of control and not caring enough for the environment and the planet we rely on for sustenance.

Circumcision decision

Male circumcision rates in Utah decline as parents reconsider the procedure

Spenst Hansen knows better than to take his body for granted.

Born in the midst of his parents' divorce, the 24-year-old Salt Laker was, of course, a major sticking point in the split. More surprisingly, so was his circumcision status.

"My mother and her side of the family really wanted to get [the procedure] done—so much so, apparently, that they were threatening to get it done behind my father's back," Hansen says. "My father was very adamant and very passionate about letting me keep my whole and unaltered body. From what I understand, he actually put out a court-ordered cease and desist for every pediatrician in the state."

Antibiotics in animal feed endangers your kids

Image
According to the new report from the U.S. Pediatricians, the overuse of antibiotics within animal feed it making it harder for doctors to help children fight off life-threatening infections.

The recent report from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) says that the fairly common practice of giving healthy livestock antibiotics as a 'prevention' tactic is making the drugs more ineffective especially when they are needed to treat infections in our children. Most of the nonorganic meat in the US is full of hormones and antibiotics which ends up in the food and is negatively influencing our health.
