Health & Wellness
That's because my topic today is a pair of new scientific studies suggesting that poultry on factory farms are routinely fed caffeine, active ingredients of Tylenol and Benadryl, banned antibiotics and even arsenic.
"We were kind of floored," said Keeve E. Nachman, a co-author of both studies and a scientist at the Johns Hopkins University Center for a Livable Future. "It's unbelievable what we found."
He said that the researchers had intended to test only for antibiotics. But assays for other chemicals and pharmaceuticals didn't cost extra, so researchers asked for those results as well.
"We haven't found anything that is an immediate health concern," Nachman added. "But it makes me question how comfortable we are feeding a number of these things to animals that we're eating. It bewilders me."
But if you are thinking that diet soft drinks or artificial or even natural sweeteners are the answer for getting off sugar, think again. Diet drink consumption has increased 400 percent since 1960. It may or may not cause cancer, but the evidence is mounting that it leads to weight gain rather than weight loss. Those who consume diet drinks regularly have a 200 percent increased risk of weight gain, a 36 percent increased risk of pre-diabetes or metabolic syndrome, and a 67 percent increased risk of diabetes. A study of 400 people found that those who drank two diet sodas a day or more increased their waist size by five times.

A variety of foods. Researchers found that the top seven adulterated ingredients were olive oil, milk, honey, saffron, orange juice, coffee, and apple juice.
The database was created by the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP), a nonprofit scientific organization that develops standards to help ensure the identity, quality and purity of food ingredients, dietary supplements and pharmaceuticals. USP's food ingredient standards are published in the Food Chemicals Codex (FCC) compendium. The new database provides baseline information to assist interested parties in assessing the risks of specific products. It includes a total of 1,305 records for food fraud based on a total of 660 scholarly, media and other publicly available reports. Records are divided by scholarly research (1,054 records) and media reports (251 records). Researchers are Drs. Jeffrey C. Moore (lead author) and Markus Lipp of USP, and Dr. John Spink of Michigan State University.

Tests revealed that the malaria parasite, Plasmodium falciparum has undergone a genetic change making it resistant to one of the most popular drug treatments
Resistant strains of the deadliest and most common form of the disease have been confirmed on the border of Thailand and Burma.
Experts now fear if it cannot be defeated thousands more lives could be lost to the disease, as drug-resistant strains of the virus could potentially spread across India and Africa.
Lead researcher, Professor Francois Nosten, director of the Shoklo Malaria Research Unit in Thailand, said: 'This is very worrying indeed and suggests that we are in a race against time to control malaria in these regions before drug resistance worsens and develops and spreads further.
'The effect of that happening could be devastating. Malaria already kills hundreds of thousands of people a year - if our drugs become ineffective, this figure will rise dramatically.'
Recently, the American College of Cardiology held a scientific meeting during which data relating to cholesterol levels and cancer was presented. The research assessed LDL-cholesterol levels and risk of cancer for an average period of almost 19 years prior to a diagnosis of cancer being made. The researchers found that throughout the course of the study (even many years before cancer was detected), lower levels of LDL-cholesterol were associated with enhanced risk of cancer.
Just because low cholesterol and cancer are associated does not mean low cholesterol causes cancer. Some scientists have suggested that the relationship is the other way round and the result of what is known as 'reverse causality' i.e. that chronic conditions such as cancer can cause lowered cholesterol, rather than the other way round. This idea is sometimes referred to as 'Iribarren's hypothesis'.

The caustic cleaning chemical is also used widely in cheese and similar chemicals are used in baking products.
- Caustic cleaning chemical is also used to turn milk to cheese
- Similar chemicals used in chocolate and baked products
- Kraft admits chemical is used in some of its foods
Related compounds are also used in baked goods and chocolate.
Ammonia, known for its noxious odor, became a hot topic with the uproar over what the meat industry calls 'finely textured beef' and what a former U.S. government scientist first called 'pink slime'.
Linda Franck and her colleagues at the University of California, San Francisco (1) discovered that by drugging and vaccinating 8 week old babies with multiple vaccinations in the afternoon helps them to sleep better. Linda Franck the leading author of the study which was carried out at the university said:
"Sleep is important after getting shots, because sleep is a sign of a vaccine response, and it's important to maximize that response."
Originally the researchers were not studying vaccinations they were studying whether babies slept better if they were given the medication Tylenol before vaccinations or not at all. Apparently it is standard practice to give babies a dose of the drug acetaminophen brand name Tylenol before vaccinations to reduce any increase in temperature supposedly making them more comfortable.
According to the original report published in the journal of Pediatrics (2) 25 of the 70 babies being studied were given a dose of Tylenol before the vaccinations. However, due to fever or discomfort many of the remaining babies in the study were also given the medication either at the time of vaccination or afterwards.
All of the babies were vaccinated with the following vaccinations pneumococcal, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (DPT), Haemophilus influenzae type b, poliovirus and hepatitis B vaccines.
It is hardly surprising that these poor 8 week old babies slept for so long in what is in my opinion an appalling and abusive study. Not only were they vaccinated with no less than 7 doses of vaccines containing all the chemicals, toxins and viruses known to man but they were also drugged during their ordeal. This study is another example how the pharmaceutical companies use innocent children as guinea pigs in sick and perverse medical experiments.
The recommendations emerged from a two-year effort, similar to a project other medical specialties are undertaking, to identify procedures that are routinely done but do not help patients live longer or better or may even be harmful.
As much as 30 percent of health-care spending goes to procedures, tests and hospital stays that do not improve a patient's health, according to a 2008 analysis by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.
"Our goal was to improve care and improve the value of the care we deliver," said Dr. Lowell Schnipper, a cancer physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center who led the task force assembled by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). The task force of more than 200 oncologists released the list of five tests and treatments in a report in ASCO's Journal of Clinical Oncology.
Eight other medical specialty groups, from cardiologists to nephrologists to radiologists, are also identifying five tests or treatments from their own fields that are commonly ordered but do not benefit patients. It is part of the national "Choosing Wisely" campaign, organized by the American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation and Consumer Reports magazine.
'Better still is when I bump into people who I haven't seen for a long time,' she says. 'It's not unusual for them to say "wow you look better than you did 20 years ago", which is wonderful.'
And the reason for this sudden turning back of the years? It's not weight loss, expensive cosmetic surgery or the glow of a new and exciting love affair.
Wendy, a personal trainer and mother-of-two from Truro, in Cornwall, puts it all down to cutting sugar from her diet. She swears it has helped rejuvenate her skin more effectively than any so-called miracle cream ever could.
There may be a link between low levels of "bad" low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol - that is, not enough of it - and increased cancer risk, according to new research. Scientists at Tufts University looked at 201 cancer patients and 402 cancer-free patients. They found that cancer patients who never took cholesterol-lowering drugs on average had lower LDL cholesterol levels for an average of about 19 years prior to their cancer diagnosis. In other words, they were "healthier" according to the LDL demonizers in today's medicine.
Previous studies, which looked at patients who did take cholesterol-lowering drugs, also suggested a strong link between low LDL cholesterol levels and higher cancer risk.

Comment: As the side effects of vaccines increase, it's becoming harder to hide the fact that vaccines are causing the diseases they are professed to prevent, and are actually creating additional diseases.
