The man, an off-duty police officer, had just picked up some garden furniture from an outlet in a office complex on Ambler Dr. As he was making his way out of the parking lot, he drove through what appeared to be a small puddle.
It turned out to be something much worse.
As he drove over it, the ground beneath his wheels gave way, tipping the truck into a five-foot-deep sinkhole that rapidly started filling with water.
The driver managed to get himself out of the truck and nobody was injured.
Police, fire crews and tow trucks were called to try to pull the stricken vehicle out of the hole.
Firefighters on the scene said that a water pipe beneath the surface appeared to have ruptured and caused the sinkhole to form.
Chile, 06-06-2014: The snow that fell on Route 90 at the entrance of Pichilemu during the afternoon on Friday was "unusual," said La Primera Compañía de Bomberos (the First Fire Company) on its Twitter account
The phenomenon not only surprised the transiting area, but also the Chilean Meteorological Office who listed the snowstorm as an "anomaly".
According to meteorologist Patricio Silva "we had expected snowfall above 1,000 meters, but not in the coastal zone".
Fearing that a bigger eruption could damage their agricultural land and houses, residents of around half a dozen villages in the vicinity of the eruption are anxiously awaiting the final report of GSI team. "Gases and liquids are being emitted from holes in a 10 feet area around the hill where the volcanic activity took place," said Ved Prakash, president of Drang panchayat. He said the eruption, unheard of in this area, caused panic among villagers.
Comment: This seems a bit odd - what exactly is a 'small magmatic activity'? Hopefully, we will find more out about this so-called 'activity'. In the meantime, here is a list of active, dormant, and extinct volcanoes in India.
This is the first time such a volcanic activity has been witnessed in the state. Chief parliamentary secretary Jagjivan Pal in whose Sulah assembly constituency the area falls visited the spot on Tuesday. He said the flames and the hot liquid emanating from the hill had created panic. "Underground temperature in the area has increased manifold and people say that a steel electricity pole had become red hot a couple of days back," he added. Pal said a sulphur-like material and black stone is flowing out from the perimeter of the hill.
Likewise, the Peruvian agency announced an overall decrease in the volcano's daily seismic energy and a sharp decline in the number of explosions, lowering from more than 40 to 1 or 2 a day.
Police and park rangers are working to find the man. Police confirmed the man had been on a boat at the time of the attack.
Duty Superintendent Bob Harrison said the man is believed to have been with his wife, son and daughter-in-law and they may have witnessed the attack.
Police hold grave fears for the man's safety.
Flash floods have killed more than 50 people in northern Afghanistan, washing away hundreds of houses and forcing thousands to flee, provincial authorities said on Saturday.
"Heavy torrential rains followed by flash floods have killed more than 50 people in Guzargah-e-Nur district of Baghlan province," Mahmood Haqmal, spokesman for the provincial governor, told AFP.
"We have recovered more than 50 bodies from the rubble, including the bodies of women and children, but many others are still missing," Haqmal said.
It was an initial death toll, he said, warning it could rise.
Guzargah-e-Nur district governor Noor Mohammad Guzar told AFP the death toll was 66.
"Yesterday's floods have destroyed four villages, and washed away 2,000 residential houses, agricultural fields and also killed thousands of cattle," Guzar added.
Alerts were raised for southern and north-eastern China Saturday after the death toll reached 27 with two missing from this week's heavy rains.
Ten people died in the southern province of Guizhou and nine in the south-western city of Chongqing. Neighboring Sichuan province and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region suffered three deaths each.
The National Meteorological Center warned students taking college entrance exams to leave home early to make sure they arrive on time, as up to 80 millimeters of rain was expected over the weekend in certain regions.
Hail, floods and landslides wreaked havoc across southern areas. The weather bureau also expanded its warnings to include northern provinces of Liaoning and Jilin, as well as the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Beijing sees record high temperatures in May
Seeded by meteor smoke and boosted by the climate-change gas methane, noctilucent clouds have been spreading beyond the Arctic.Rising methane from below, the alleged exclusive result of human industrial activity, is NOT responsible for noctilucent clouds. Increasing atmospheric methane levels are primarily due to methane being released from deep under the oceans.
Increased NLCs are a 'canary in a coal mine' alright, but not in the way Official Science would have us believe.
The recovered tracking device showed a rapid temperature rise and a sudden 1,900-foot-deep plunge. It stayed there for many days, moving around and occasionally ascending to go down again until it finally reached the shore.
That's all the information that scientists gathered from the tracking device.

Comment: Despite the fact that a couple of the videos above are probably fakes, it's undeniable that lightning is striking closer to home. For an explanation of this phenomenon, and its place within the plethora of other unusual phenomena being observed within, on, and above the planet, see Pierre Lescaudron's book, Earth Changes and the Human-Cosmic Connection, published by Red Pill Press.
