A police official told The Express Tribune on Sunday, Sajid Mehmood, a resident of Shangriyan village and a student of class eight, was on his way home with his mother, Razia Bibi, when he was attacked by a wild bear in the neighbouring village.
"The mother and son were passing through a forest when the bear attacked the boy," the official said.
He added Razia Bibi tried to save her son by throwing stones at the bear. However, the animal attacked her as well.
The female became stranded in the South Point area.
Officials with the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration said this particular whale had been seen eight times between 2000 and 2014. It's rare for Hawaii's false killer whales to strand themselves, officials said, adding that it has happened three times in the last 17 years.
"If you consider that there are 200 individuals in the population and if you take away one female from a critically endangered population and she has the reproductive potential to produce many calves throughout her life and to remove her at a young age from the population, we're removing that contribution to the recovery of the species," said David Schofield, NOAA Marine Mammal Response manager.
The animal was brought to Oahu for a necropsy to determine the cause of death.
According to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Matt Rinde, "A typical early season storm developing over the Rockies will strengthen rapidly as it moves into the Plains, bringing snow and a brief period of blizzard conditions." "Blowing and drifting snow will cause significant travel problems," AccuWeather Meteorologist Becky Elliott said.
Areas around Denver, Loveland and Fort Morgan, Colorado, and Cheyenne and La Grange, Wyoming, are among those at risk for several hours of blinding snow and dangerous travel on Wednesday with the worst conditions first thing in the morning.Blizzard conditions can also develop across portions of the Nebraska panhandle, including the cities of Scottsbluff and Sidney.
Snow totals will generally be between 1 to 3 inches across the area into Wednesday morning. Much higher amounts will occur across the foothills and Colorado Rockies. The strong winds can knock down trees and power lines leading to power outages.Anyone traveling in this area, including Interstates 25, 70, 76 and 80 should leave earlier than normal to allow yourself extra time traveling on the slick roadways.
Oakville resident Ross Taylor told the Oakville Beaver through an email he heard a "loud boom sound" at around 6 a.m. in the Dorval Drive and Rebecca Street area. "It had a ping sound to it," he wrote. This comes on the heels of a "loud boom" heard by Glen Abbey resident David Branson two weeks ago on Oct. 27 around 6:15 a.m. The cause of the noise Branson heard remains a mystery.
He said it came from the direction of Lake Ontario and was also heard by his wife and her co-worker in the Rebecca Street and Bronte Road area. After reporting on the mystery, the Oakville Beaver heard from two other residents who said they also woke up to hear the startling sound that morning. A third resident, Randy Droniuk said he didn't hear the mysterious noise, but he remembers a similar incident about 20 years ago.
At the time, he said he lived near Third Line and Lakeshore Road and was barbecuing when he heard the loud boom.
At first, he said he thought his barbecue had exploded, but when he went outside, he saw others inquiring about the noise. "I don't know where the follow-up information originated, but allegedly there are some plates under the lake in this area and the boom was created when the plates suddenly slipped," he wrote in an email to the Beaver in late October.
Two other women were seriously injured and treated by paramedics who responded to the emergency.
KZN EMS spokesperson Robert McKenzie said the emergency call centre had received multiple reports of lightning strikes at the Jali informal settlement.
"From the initial incident we had a 51-year-old woman who was killed when lightning struck her home.
"She sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
"Several other people, who were inside the house, managed to escape unharmed," he said.

It failed to become a tropical cyclone prior to moving into southern India Monday morning local time; however, there is still concern for possible development as it emerges into the Arabian Sea later this week.
Residents of southern India should remain on high alert for flooding as heavy downpours have already totaled 150-250 mm (6-10 inches) along India's southeast coast from Vedaranyam to Chennai.
The heaviest rainfall is now shifting farther inland with flooding possible in Vellore, Bangalore, Tumakur, Mysuru and Coimbatore into Tuesday. The rain will continue to move westward with local downpours expected anywhere from Kochi to Mangalore Tuesday into Wednesday.
The tropical low will be much weaker by the time it reaches the west coast of India, limiting the threat for any widespread flooding; however, the hardest hit areas could still receive more than 100 mm (4 inches) of rain.
The one benefit to the downpours will be to help erase the slight rainfall deficit across southern India following the monsoon season. Drier-than-normal conditions persisted through October.
This large tropical low will also cause scattered showers and thunderstorms over Sri Lanka; however, any flooding will be localized with most areas receiving less than 25 mm (1 inch) of rainfall from Tuesday into Wednesday.
After moving into the Arabian Sea during the middle of the week, there will be a renewed threat for this tropical low to develop into a tropical cyclone. While development is not certain, a general track toward the west will bring the threat for some rainfall back to Socotra Island as early as this weekend, following the impacts of two devastating cyclones in the past 10 days.
Lenticular clouds are a phenomenon that creates a look similar to a tornado. It occurs from time to time, particularly over volcanos. It has been observed at other times at Arenal and Irazu. An expert from the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory confirmed the current occurrence.
The strange cloud formations were photographed and the pictures have overtaken social media. Lenticular clouds form in conditions of high winds. They are unique to high mountainous areas, according to the National Meteorological Institute. They are different than clouds traveling fast with surface winds because they appear tornado-like.

It could be the first known fatal attack by a pit bull on Long Island. A search of Newsday archives dating to the 1940s found no records of a similar death.
Nassau police and neighbors described a harrowing scene as attempts to free the girl from the dog's clenched jaws failed and her two friends ran into the front of the house on Holland Avenue screaming for help.
Det. Michael Bitsko said the mother of one of the girl's friends tried unsuccessfully to get the dog to let go of the child.
Bitsko said officers had surrounded the house and one went inside. When one officer came out in the backyard, she drew the dog's attention, and when the animal charged, the officer fired several shots. It was not known why the dog attacked, he said.
