With the formation of Tropical Storm Gamma and now Hurricane Delta, we've seen 25 named storms so far this season.
Only the 2005 season - with 27 named storms and one unnamed storm - remains above 2020 on the list of seasons with the most storms.
2020 may be three storms behind 2005's total, but it's on a record pace. Through Oct. 5, the 2005 hurricane season generated 20 storms - five fewer than 2020, so far.
The incident took place at around 1,30 pm under Chichola police station area, where 19 fishermen from two villages of Chhuirya had gone to Lal Mati reservoir, said Ajaykant Tiwari, station house officer of Chichola police station.
Owing to heavy rainfall, they were inside their temporary camps erected on the banks of the reservoir where the lightning struck, he said.
While two of them, identified as Rohit Nishad (50) and Bharosa Nishad (55), died on the spot, 10 others sustained minor burn injuries in the incident, he said.
A woman was killed by lightning in the late afternoon in Melville, Johannesburg.
Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) confirmed the news to The South African, saying the incident occurred at approximately 16h30.
"The City of Johannesburg's Emergency Management Services (EMS) received a call yesterday afternoon about an incident that occurred in Melville. On arrival we found a middle-aged female who was declared dead at the scene", said spokesperson Nana Radebe.

Kampung Rampayan in Menggatal was hit by rising floodwater, which was inching closer and closer to factories located nearby.
A resident said the flash floods were triggered by heavy rain that lasted all night, which showed no sign of ceasing anytime soon as of 9.30am today.

A large thunderstorm and "large hail" currently making affecting Johannesburg is causing drivers major headaches, with bridges hit by flooding causing peak traffic to grind to a standstill.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) warned on Monday that a "yellow thunderstorm warning" is in place, meaning that residents can expect localised flooding in low lying areas due to heavy rain and large hail and large amounts of small hail which can damage vehicles and property.
The worst affected state was Tabasco, where two people died and more than 590,000 people were adversely affected by the storm.
Federal authorities said there was one death in the municipality of Jalapa and another in Jalpa de Méndez. Both victims drowned in floodwaters.
Authorities in Chiapas said that four members of the same family, including two children, died after a landslide buried their home in San Juan Chamula.

"I saw it when I had stepped out on my balcony to take photographs of birds like I do daily. The phenomenon lasted for about 20 seconds and I managed to take two short videos. The location of the waterspout may not have been more than 1 km off Colaba early this morning. Owing to cloud cover and haze, the photos were not very clear," said Khatau, an avian and wildlife enthusiast who has documented several bird species.
A similar image of the waterspout was shared on social media by Seju Nair on Twitter. The posts stated that it was spotted near Marine Drive on Monday morning.
