Between 11 a.m. and 8:30 p.m., there have been 493 crashes on Minnesota roads. Forty-eight of those crashes resulted in injuries, including one serious injury near Motley. There have been 614 vehicle spinouts and 22 jackknifed semi-trucks.
This storm system, which has dropped up to 9 inches of snow in parts of metro, is Minnesota's largest early season storm in recorded history. It's also the second largest October snowfall, with the historic 1991 Halloween blizzard coming in first.

Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdottir was being interviewed on live television from her home when everything around her started shaking.
'Oh my God there's an earthquake,' she said as she grabbed hold of the desk in front of her and gasped.
'Well this is Iceland!' The 44-year-old PM said as she laughed off the bang, saying she was 'perfectly fine' and 'the house was still strong.'
Meanwhile, the parliament in Reykjavik was also rocked by the seismic movements, sending an MP addressing the house rushing for cover.
People in Heraklion and Chania, the island's biggest cities, woke to the sounds of the pounding rain after midnight. Greek media showed images of a main motorway on the island blanketed white by a heavy coating of hail and workers shovelling piled up hail from streets in the coastal town of Malia.
Police have not reported any serious damage from the storm.
The weather office has warned of heavy rain for the next three to days too.
Several cities on the Old City area continue to be flooded, with the police, the disaster response force, municipality and police stretched thin and working round the clock.
Forecasts called for flurries and about an inch of snow in the metro, one day after the season's first measurable snowfall. Instead, an intense snow squall dropped up to nine inches in northern Polk County.
"Things just came together in the right fashion to produce the heavy snow that we're seeing across central Iowa right now," National Weather Service Meteorologist Jeff Zogg said early Monday afternoon.
In a report of 19 October, the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) said that torrential rainfall, river floods and flash floods since September have cumulatively impacted 192,594 people across 22 states in Nigeria. Furthermore, around 826 injuries and 155 fatalities have so far been recorded and 24,134 people are reported to be displaced.
Ruthie Mae Brown of Boldo was pronounced dead at the scene at 3 p.m. by Walker County Coroner Joey Vick.
Vick said her body has been sent to forensics for an official cause of death but confirmed that there was severe trauma caused by an attack by dogs.

SAVAGE ATTACK A Port Elizabeth woman has died after being attacked by a pit bull.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said an inquest docket has since been opened.
Belinda Jonker, 64, died on the scene.
According to Janse van Rensburg, at about 9.30pm on Monday, as Jonker and her husband were leaving their house in Summerville Street, Morningside, the family dog attacked.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the quake occurred 94 kilometers southeast of Sand Point, Alaska, and was initially recorded as a magnitude 7.4 quake.
No injuries or structural damages have been reported so far.
