Klyuchevskoy, the tallest active volcano in Eurasia, located in Kamchatka, in the Russian Far East, has spewed ash as high as 5.5 km above sea level, the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team (KVERT) said on Thursday.
"On August 1, the Klyuchevskoy volcano belched ash. The column of ash rose 5,500 meters above sea level.
The ash cloud spread nearly 10 km to the south of the volcano," KVERT said.

According to the Russian Emergencies Ministry, 2,699 people in 8 districts of the Irkutsk region have been affected by the new wave of floods that started after heavy rains in the area.
Russian news agency TASS said that the water level in the Iya river in the region reached 11.25 metres on 31 July, which is well above the 7 metre danger mark.
USGS said the quake hit about 178 kilometres (110 miles) northwest of the capital Port Vila at 2:02 am (1502 GMT Wednesday) at a depth of 179 kilometres.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no tsunami threat from the quake.
A new daily low temperature record was set in International Falls, where the mercury dipped to 37 degrees, breaking the record (38 degrees) set back in 1898.
Typically, low temperatures in International Fall, which sits along the Minnesota-Canada border, hover around the mid-50s this time of year.
Temperatures in the area don't typically reach the 30s until late September, early October.
The victims, all Arizona residents, were at the Shannon Campgrounds in Mount Graham when a bobcat entered their campsite around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the Graham County Sheriff's Office.
The bobcat first attacked a 4-year-old girl, prompting other family members to hit, kick and grab the animal to get it off her.
On Saturday, William Angell, 49, of Arizona, was bitten in the right thigh around 4:30 p.m. by a shark while boogie-boarding at New Smyrna Beach. He was treated on the scene, according to Volusia County officials.
About 100 miles away that same day, professional surfer Frank O'Rourke, 23, faced off with a shark at Florida's Jacksonville Beach.
The volcano erupted at 12:48 p.m. Jakarta time (0548 GMT), spewing a column of ash up to 0.8 km into the air. The volcanic ash tended to spread to the northeast and east of the crater.
