It was a waterspout spinning in the distance. Klosterman tells WHAS11 News, "it was the first one I had ever seen! It was exciting to witness!"
Klosterman and her family were on the beach at the Gulf Shores around midday Aug. 25, when she saw it.
"I turned to see the water spout and grabbed my phone," Klosterman said. "It lasted a good 10-15 minutes."
Klosterman said she's from Crestwood, just east of Louisville.

Fourteen people were buried under the collapsed houses. Teams of search and rescue workers including personnel from Myanmar Red Cross and the Fire Department searched through the wreckage of the buildings over the last few days. As of 26 August, officials said 11 bodies had been found. Three people survived but were injured.
Local observers said the landslide was caused by recent heavy rainfall. Around 2 weeks earlier heavy rain also took its toll on the township after a landslide caused the wall of a building to collapse, killing 3 people on 12 August. More than 145 mm of rain fell in just a few hours early on 12 August.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) reported on 27 August that heavy monsoon rainfall since late July has affected as many as 125,000 people in Myanmar, mainly in Kachin, Kayin, Mon, Rakhine and Shan states as well as in Mandalay and Tanintharyi regions.

Ida is forecast to track into the extremely warm sea waters in the Gulf of Mexico and is very likely to enter rapid intensification and become the 4th hurricane in the Atlantic Basin this year.
Mandatory evacuations are being ordered in Louisiana on Friday as Ida gains strength in the gulf.
The center of Ida was located over western Cuba around 8 p.m. ET on Friday. Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, and western Cuba will face heavy rains, flash flooding, and mudslides throughout Friday evening.
The streets of Havana, the capital, were deserted as residents closed their homes before Ida's arrival.
Jamaica was flooded by heavy rain, and there were landslides after the storm passed. Several roads were closed, forcing some people to leave their homes.
The heavy rains pounded Pattaya for 5 hours, starting during the morning rush hour around 7:30 am and not relenting until midday in most areas. The gathering water hit roads around the city and surrounding area from 30 centimetres in some areas to flooding as high as one metre on some Pattaya roads.
Sukhumvit, Soi Khao Talo in tambon Nong Prue, and behind Samakee Tham Temple by the railway were all deeply flooded. Houses on Soi Khao Talo filled with water up to one metre deep with many residents unable to save their belongings that were soaked and destroyed.

Both states already have well-exceeded their twister averages for an entire year, bumped up by the "rare" supercell outbreak of July 29 that included one with Tornado Alley-like 140 mph winds, and last week's Fred-related twisters, one of which traveled almost nine miles.

In Campo Largo, in the Metropolitan Region, more than 200 people sought out Civil Defense and the city government asking for tarpaulins to cover roofs in the city.
