Earth Changes
Between the months of April and September, the South Pole averaged a temperature of -61.1C (-78F).
Simply put, this was the region's coldest 6-month spell ever recorded, and it comfortably usurped the previous coldest 'coreless winter' on record — the -60.6C (-77F) set back in 1976 (solar minimum of weak cycle 20).
This incredible and AGW-destroying reality is confirmed by Antarctica climatology journalist Stefano Di Battista who has closely watched and published research on Antarctic temperatures for many years:

A downed tree blocks a lane of traffic on Hennings Way in East Anchorage on September 24, 2021.
By Friday morning, unofficial snow totals included 13 inches on the Upper Hillside and about 4 inches in Eagle River, while much of the west side of Anchorage saw next to nothing, said Alan Shriver a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Anchorage.
The snow was continuing on the east side Friday morning, Shriver said, and was expected to continue mixed with rain throughout the day before tapering off by 8 p.m.
Power outages across the city were caused by the heavy, wet snow falling early in the season while many trees still have leaves -- heavy branches had fallen on lines, said Julie Hasquet, spokeswoman for Chugach Electric Association. Crews were working to restore power Friday morning.
Trees leaning and falling on power lines caused power losses in neighborhoods across the region, the utility said.
By 8 a.m. Sunday, 4,483 customers had reported outages, with about 200 contacting the utility in the last hour, according to a GVEA dashboard. In addition, the utility warned greater Fairbanks residents to expect sporadic outages throughout the day.
"All available crews are working to restore power, but due to the number of outages and the conditions, please be prepared for lengthy delays. Crews will continue working until all power is restored," GVEA said.
The video of the attack in Visva Workers Colony at 7.45 pm has since gone viral. It shows the woman, identified as Nirmaladevi Rambadan, sitting in the backyard of her house, unaware that the big cat is watching her movements. While she managed to fight off the leopard with a walking stick, she was injured in the incident and has scratch marks on her chest, face, and back. She was rushed to a hospital.
This is the third leopard attack in the area within a week in Aarey, an urban forestland that borders Sanjay Gandhi National Park. A four-year-old and a three-year-old were earlier rescued by local residents from leopard attacks.

Authorities did not know what type of shark it was but said the beach would be closed for at least two days (stock image)
The surfer, identified by friends as Eric, was bitten on his thigh while in the sea near Bodega Bay around 9am on Sunday.
The man, in his 30s, was with a group of surfers off Sonoma County's Salmon Creek Beach when the shark bit him on the thigh, according to the Bodega Bay Fire Protection District.
His fellow surfers helped get him to shore and bystanders applied first aid until emergency crews arrived and he was airlifted to hospital, KTVU-TV reported.
"The bear hid in a nearby bush after the attack," said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dan Bahadur Thapa. As the incident spreaded panic in the village, the authorities are trying to calm the people and normalize life in the area, according to DSP Thapa.
The bear had entered the villages of Kumdi and Phai. A team of security personnel had reached the spot as soon as they got the news that a bear had killed a person. The locals had demanded immediate control of the bear and killing it.
Officers were called to the 300 block of Westmoreland Street shortly after 10:30 a.m. on a report that a child was attacked by a pit bull, according to an Akron police media release.
When they arrived, officers found the little girl critically injured.
She was rushed to Children's Hospital, where she died, the release said.

A car is partially submerged on a flooded street as Cyclone Shaheen makes landfall in Muscat Oman, October 3, 2021
As the cyclone approached, a child who had been swept away by water was found dead, the state news agency said, and another person was missing. Two Asian workers were killed when a hill collapsed on their housing area in an industrial zone, the state news agency reported.
When its eye crossed land, the cyclone was carrying winds of between 120 and 150 km per hour (75-93 mph), Omani authorities said. It was throwing up waves of up to 10 metres (32 feet).
