The main leafy vegetable-producing areas in Albacete were affected by a strong hailstorm on Thursday, September 16. According to industry sources, the hail caused damage to many crops, such as romaine lettuce, spinach, and baby lettuce crops.
The fields accumulated large amounts of water, as more than 40 liters of water per square meter fell on the crops in just 20 minutes, and up to 70% of the crops were lost in a large number of plots.

Mongkul Borei district governor Roth Dasinang warned local people during this week to prepare food and medicine, store family documents safely in a waterproof container, shut down electricity, keep an eye on children and be careful of snakes.
Dasinang said on Monday that flash floods appear suddenly and quickly reach an emergency level.

Torrential rain of over 100mm in 1 hour caused damaging flash floods in Huelva Province on the coast of Andalusia, southern Spain, on 23 September 2021.
According to Spain's meteorological agency AEMET, the town of Cartaya in the Province of Huelva recorded 118 mm of rain during a storm on 23 September, with 112.4 mm of rain falling in just 1 hour.

The region's emergency authority, Emergencias 112 Andalucía, responded to more than 750 incidents of flooding in numerous municipalities in Huelva province. 112 Andalucía said the damage has been concentrated in the coastal populations of Isla Cristina, Lepe, Ayamonte and Cartaya.

Phenix City police were dispatched at 2 a.m. Tuesday to the 100 block of 17th Avenue on a report of a dog bite, said Capt. Darryl Williams. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the 70-year-old victim on the ground with a serious injury to his left arm.

Kigezi region police spokesperson, Mr Elly Maate said Wednesday that Edidiya Turyayebwa, 42, and Diyana Kajowa, 31, both residents of Omunsyokwe village were struck dead Tuesday afternoon while in the garden preparing for the planting season. Four of their colleagues were left nursing wounds.
"The injured who include Flora Nyinakiiza, 40, and her three children; Susan Ayebazibwe, 16, Friday Akandwanaho, 5, and Blessings Karungi were taken to the nearby health facility while bodies of the deceased were handed over to relatives for burial," he said.
Some nomadic families had camped at Laman Naranag area on their way back home from the seasonal pastures in the higher reaches when the lightening struck them.
An official said that the injured family members were brought to Trauma Hospital Kangan for treatment.
He said that both were stable and had sustained minor injuries.
