'Terrifying loud noise' heard at 2am in Austin, Texas

Strange sounds (stock)
© vexels.com
On February 5, 2019, YouTube user 'Jared McClain' published footage of weird noises he heard in Austin, Texas around 2:00 am:
Hello all. I was up late at night and this sound began out of nowhere. It reminded me of the soundtrack of a scary movie. It freaked me out so much I grabbed my phone to record the noise. I begin my video in my room, then go out front to hear the noise better. It seemed to be coming from a few blocks away, so I went back upstairs to put on my shoes and get my keys to drive to see what was making the sound. As soon as I put on my hoodie to leave, the noise stopped. It freaks me out to listen back to the noise. I'm not sure if it's a natural phenomenon or something out of the ordinary (aliens?).

Sinkhole swallows river in Indonesia

sinkhole swallow indonesia river
Normally, rivers flow horizontally. Now the water of this river in Babadan Village, Indonesia disappears in a deep sinkhole underground, drying up the stream. Very disturbing, isn't it?

This Youtube video was first uploaded today by the chef of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, via his twitter account @Sutopo_PN:

As seen in both videos, the water is vanishing in a deep and probably very large underground hole. Freaky! Hopefully the river will not completely disappear.

The Hawai'i DLNR Division of State Parks reports that for perhaps the first time ever, snow has fallen in a Hawai'i State Park on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019.

Polipoli State Park on Maui is blanketed with snow. It could also be the lowest elevation snow ever recorded in the state.Polipoli is at 6200 feet elevation.

Personnel from numerous DLNR Divisions continue monitoring the impacts of the major winter storm bearing down on Hawai'i.

DLNR Chair Suzanne Case and Sam Lemmo administrator of the DLNR Office of Conservation and Coastal Lands spent the day on Oahu's north shore where there is particular concern about coastal erosion and wave inundation. They watched as the height of coastal waves steadily increased across the day. Case said, "The conditions are impressive but extremely dangerous. We don't know yet the extent of sand loss on north-facing beaches."

Heavy snowfall in Galyat breaks 35 years old record
Heavy snowfall on Saturday broke a 35-year record in Galyat as more than 12 feet snowfall was recorded during 20 days of the current winter season.

The heavy snowfall has not only limited tourist movements but also trapped hundreds of thousands of natives in their houses as main Murree road, Ayubia, Khanuspur, Nathiagali and dozens of other link roads are blocked by snow and landslides.

A severe shortage of food items, petrol, oil, firewood, medicines and other necessities of life and days long electricity breakdown pushed the people of Galyat into even deeper trouble where neither district government Abbottabad nor Galyat Development Authority (GDA) tried to lessen the miseries of the people.

Amazing pictures show rare 'snow rollers' in British field

Although they look as though they are sculpted by hand, they are in fact the product of the right balance between sticky snow, strong winds and cold temperatures. These incredible pictures show rare 'snow rollers' that formed in a British field during the recent snow storm
These incredible pictures show rare 'snow rollers' that formed in a British field during the recent snow storm.

Brian Bayliss, 51, works as a forestry contractor and was driving past a field he owned when he saw the usual snow formations, about 2 - 3ft in diameter and 2ft wide.

He thought that children had been playing in his field in Marlborough, Wiltshire, so went to take a closer look but was amazed to discover there wasn't a single footprint.

Brian took some pictures and sent them to a BBC weather expert who told him they were an extremely rare meteorological condition - known as Snow Rollers.

They are a rare meteorological phenomenon in which large snowballs are formed naturally as chunks of snow are blown along the ground by the wind.

As they move they pick up snow on the way, in much the same way that the large snowballs used in snowmen are made.

In order for them to form, there must be a light dusting of snow on top of an icy layer on the ground, often on a hill with no protruding vegetation. The dusting needs to be just wet enough so that it can adhere to itself but not stick to the ground, according to the National Weather Service

Seattle receives the most snow in 70 years

In Seattle, officials urged people to stay off the roads as traffic slowed to a standstill in some places because of the snow.
Some areas around Seattle received more than 10 inches of snow Saturday, the most in 70 years, the National Weather Service said, and more is on the way two more storm systems close in on the area. The National Weather Service said the first storm system is expected to arrive in the area Sunday night with light accumulation, and the second system will push through Monday and continue into Tuesday.

Meanwhile, cold temperatures are expected in the region overnight Saturday, with temperatures dropping to 15-20 degrees and the wind chill in the single digits.

The National Weather Service said some areas received up to 10.6 inches of snow, already making it the snowiest February since 1949, and the second snowiest February on record.

Nearly 8 inches of snow fell at Seattle-Tacoma Airport, where hundreds of flights were cancelled, CBS News' Carter Evans reports. The storm obscured the famous Space Needle and left a blanket of snow over some very iconic locations, like Pike Place Market. Heavy snow did do some damage in Yosemite National Park, where they got up to two feet in some areas.
