The first snow of the winter arrived in Seoul on Saturday, which marked the heaviest level for the first snowfall in history, the state meteorological office said.

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said it lifted the heavy snow warning at 9:40 a.m., some three hours after it first issued the notice.

It said Seoul saw a record 8.8 centimeters of snow as of 10:00 a.m., outnumbering the earlier record of 4.5 cm tallied in 1990.

The KMA started to compile related data in 1981.

Adapt 2030 Ice Age Report: Record cold Thanksgiving temperatures caused by 'global warming' & dust storms in Southern hemisphere

A parade watcher covers up in the cold during the 92nd annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday in New York City.
I was wondering how long it would take for media outlets to start with the "Record Cold Thanksgiving caused by Global Warming" headlines, the answer - less than 24 hours. They state CO2 is to blame, and summer will be hotter, so we look at the Southern hemisphere where record cold and snow dump in Australia, Southern Africa way cold, South America way cold and frost on crops. Yep, hotter summers which is a week away as the official date, but its going to snow in Australia at the beginning of SUMMER.

Every Australian state and territory has been impacted by wild weather over the past few days.

In South Australia, 40,000 properties were left without power and several homes were damaged as wind gusts of over 100 kilometres per hour hit on Wednesday night.

Victoria also saw severe thunderstorms, with the State Emergency Service reporting it had received over 750 calls for assistance by Tuesday night.

On Thursday morning, South East Queensland was hit with a band of gusty storms, storm warnings were issued for the Northern Territory, and parts of Tasmania were on flood watch and damaging wind warnings were issued.

In New South Wales, a dust storm travelled across the state from west of Broken Hill to Sydney.

Rare Atlantic walruses spotted in the White Sea, Russia for first time in several hundred years

Rare Atlantic walruses have been spotted in the White Sea again after several hundreds of years of not appearing in the area after unlimited exploitation, research fellow at the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology Alexander Agafonov told TASS on the eve of the Walrus Day.

"Atlantic walruses are still considered endangered species. Their population decreased initially because of intensive exploitation. For instance, they have not appeared in the White Sea since the 18th century. However, our records indicate that walruses returned to the White Sea, which most likely signals a positive dynamic," Agafonov said.

It is currently prohibited to hunt Atlantic walruses. When it comes to Pacific walruses whose population is currently estimated at 200,000 animals, only indigenous peoples are allowed to hunt them in limited quantities, Agafonov noted.

Early snow falls around Croatia

Snow falls in parts of Croatia on Tuesday

Snow falls in parts of Croatia on Tuesday
It may be still autumn, but the first snow of the season has arrived for parts of Croatia on Tuesday morning.

Zagreb, Karlovac, Gorski Kotar, Lika, Slavonia and central and northwestern Croatia woke to snow on Tuesday as temperatures dropped to around 0°C.

Snow and strong winds have caused problems on the roads also on Tuesday, especially for trucks with a number of roads closed for heavy vehicles.

The most snow has fallen in Delnice in the Gorski Kotar region where 17 centimetres fell by 7 am this morning. In Slunj there were 15 centimetres of snow, whilst Sisak had 5 centimetres, Slavonski Brod and Bjelovar 2 centimetres and Zagreb 1 centimetre, Vecernji list reports.

Double lightning strike starts house fire in Cornwall, England

Emergency services are trying to stop the fire spreading to the house next door
A house caught fire when it was struck twice by lightning.

The three-storey property on Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula was hit just after 11:30 GMT, with the blaze spreading from the roof to the top floor of the building.

No-one was injured in the blaze, in the village of Ponsongath, near Coverack, which caused extensive damage to the top of the house.

Fire crews attended amid storms which swept across the South West.

"We did have warnings of quite severe thunderstorms in the area which last throughout the whole weekend, but it is very unusual for a strike to cause a fire," Gary Rich from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said.

"When the crews arrived within five or ten minutes of the call the roof was well alight."

In many parts of Canada, the final month of fall started off feeling a lot more like winter.

At one point early Thursday morning, 11 of Canada's 13 provincial and territorial capitals were experiencing below-freezing temperatures. The exceptions were St. John's, N.L. - which just barely snuck above freezing at 0.1 C - and Victoria, where it was a balmy 8 C.

Record-breaking cold was reported in dozens of communities across Eastern Canada, including Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. Environment Canada said more than 20 communities in Ontario experienced temperatures Thursday morning colder than they had ever recorded on Nov. 22.

In Toronto, a temperature of -15.4 C was recorded at Buttonville Municipal Airport, breaking the previous daily record of -14.1 C from 2008.

It's not often we include Australia and New Zealand in a late November snow wrap, but both countries had a blast of cold weather out of the south this week, with the Southern Lakes resorts in NZ getting 50cms of snow early in the week.

The result is Cardrona is going to open the McDougall's Chondola on December 1 for sightseeing and the beginners lift for lessons and snow tubing. This is the official start date to Cardrona's summer season, but there's too much snow on the biking and hiking tracks, so snow play is the go.

A mother and daughter have been mauled to death by their own pet dogs in a horror attack at their Spanish home.

The two women were found dead, with multiple bite wounds to their bodies, in a town near Madrid yesterday afternoon.

While the mum was almost entirely covered in bites, the daughter had suffered a fatal neck injury, according to local media.

It is said they were killed by two large Bordeaux mastiffs that had been raised at the family home from pups.
