A devastating landslide in Guatemala's capital has led to the disappearance of at least six people, with thirty affected, sixty evacuated, and five homes severely damaged.

The incident occurred in the Las Calaveras sector, El Gallito colony, near the historic center.

The search for the missing has commenced, led by the Disaster Reduction Coordinator (Conred) and rescuers.

This type of tragedy is not alien to the region; another river overflow at the end of September resulted in ten deaths and disappearances in a nearby sector.

At least three people are dead as search and recovery crews continue to scour through debris from a landslide that impacted properties outside of Wrangell, Alaska, on Monday.

Alaska's Department of Public Safety reported the event occurred along the Zimovia Highway, about 11 miles south of the town of Wrangell in southeast Alaska.

The landslide occurred without warning, and first responders said the ground remains unstable, which could result in additional movement of terrain.

The slide is estimated to be 450 feet wide where it crossed the highway and the Coast Guard said as many as three other people are still missing from the event.

Flood-hit Northern Samar, Philippines under state of calamity after days of incessant rain

The provincial government has placed Nothern Samar under a state of calamity following the recommendation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) members.

Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in a hybrid special session Tuesday afternoon passed and approved the recommendation of the PDRRMC after 18 towns were reportedly inundated.

The resolution states that "70 percent of the province population equivalent to 74,500 families or 370,000 individuals from 24 towns of the province was affected by the calamity."

Huge waterspouts off the Amalfi coast in Italy

Huge waterspouts have been captured on camera off the Amalfi coast in southern Italy.

One of the waterspouts alarmed residents in the city of Salerno as it made way towards the port at high speed, but it did not cause any damage.

Another, filmed from the town of Ravello, appeared near Capo d'Orso, but it also dissipated without causing harm.

Waterspouts are similar to tornadoes, but they form over a body of water.

Ship split in two as heavy storms hit Turkey - 9 killed across the country (UPDATE)

Watch the moment a Panama-flagged vessel was split into two off the coast of Eregli, Zonguldak, as strong winds hit northwestern Turkey on Sunday, 19 November.

The ship's entire crew have been evacuated and no injuries have been reported.

Emergency services including the coastguard and a fire crew were dispatched to the scene to rescue all 13 foreign nationals onboard the vessel.

The dry cargo ship drifted ashore and crashed into the port's concrete walls and damaged the coastal amphitheatre.

Heavy rainstorms and floods killed nine people across Turkey, the country's interior minister announced on Monday.

Several areas across Turkey were struck by heavy rainstorms and flooding on Sunday, the severity of the weather conditions causing a Turkish cargo ship to sink off the Black Sea coast in the country's northern province of Zonguldak. Of the 12 crew members on board, only one body was retrieved, with the rest remaining missing.

"I would like to express with regret that one of our crew members [on the cargo ship] and 9 of our citizens have died due to storms, floods, and heavy rains," Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya told journalists in Zonguldak on Monday.

Yerlikaya said four people died in Batman, one in Diyarbakir and three in Zonguldak, in addition to the cargo ship crew member.

Turkey's Disaster Management Authority (AFAD) announced on X on Sunday night that three ships were "affected by the storm" and a total of 25 people were rescued from two of them, while efforts to rescue the missing crew members of the third ship, which sunk in Zonguldak, continue.

Turkey is no stranger to flooding. In September two people were killed in floods that hit the streets of Istanbul following several hours of heavy rainfall.

In March, a series of devastating floods hit Sanliurfa and Adiyaman provinces killing 21 people.

A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck northern Vanuatu on Wednesday, the United States Geological Survey said, but authorities said it was not expected to trigger a tsunami.

The quake had a depth of 22 kilometers (14 miles), hitting about 300 km north of the capital Port Vila at around 3:37 pm (0447 GMT).

Centered near a sparsely populated cluster of islands, the USGS said there was a "low likelihood of casualties and damage" from the tremor.

A hotel receptionist in Port Olry, some 98 kilometers (60 miles) from the epicenter, told AFP she felt a "little earthquake" and "saw the ground shaking" but was not aware of any damage.

A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 struck the eastern side of Indonesia on Wednesday, leaving authorities on alert but with no immediate reports of casualties or damages in the affected area.

The earthquake's epicenter was located 94 kilometers (58 miles) west of Tobelo in Indonesia's North Maluku province, and it occurred at a significant depth of 116 kilometers (72 miles).

Despite the strength of the quake, Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency reassured the public that there was no potential danger of a tsunami. However, they cautioned about the possibility of aftershocks, urging residents to remain vigilant in the aftermath of the seismic event.

The Raytown Police Department is investigating after a teen was killed following an apparent dog attack.

Raytown police responded to a house in the area of E. 77th Street and Elm Avenue just before 3:40 p.m. on Nov. 14 regarding an unresponsive person.

When officers arrived on scene they located the 15-year-old boy suffering from several severe injuries. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Nov. 17.

A volcano in Papua New Guinea erupted on Monday, and the Japan Meteorological Agency said it was assessing a possible risk of a tsunami for Japanese coasts.

Mount Ulawun on the island of New Britain in Papua New Guinea erupted at around 3:30 p.m. (0630 GMT) Monday, spewing volcanic smoke as high as 15,000 meters (50,000 feet), the agency said, quoting the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center in Darwin, Australia.

The agency said it was assessing a possible impact, including the risk of a tsunami approaching Japan later Monday. First tsunami waves could reach Izu and Ogasawara islands about three hours after the shaking caused by the eruption, JMA said.
